  1. Honestly, don't get in to the mind-set of relying on a safety catch. Just like any other mechanical device, they too can fail. Just concentrate on getting the basics so that they become second nature and it will never be an issue again
  2. Don't use WD40 on the 'o' ring, Jasper, it'll perrish the rubber. Use either a synthetic gun oil or better still a pure silicon oil. They won't rot the rubber
  3. If you've learnt from it, then fair do's Don't let it put you off a really nice rifle and DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!!!!!
  4. I've been useing a .20 barrel on my HW90 for the past three years and I'm more than very happy with it It's true that most shops carry a very limited choice of ammo but there's as much as anyone could wish for on-line. It's a very useful caliber IMO. Cheers.
  5. One of the most basic rules of gun handleing is don't put your finger on the trigger until you're ready to fire. I understand about the injury after the car crash but that does not excuse such a basic error. I don't mean to sound harsh but I'm a real stickler for such things, I had it banged in to me from being a very small boy by my Dad who was a weapons instructor in the RAF Regiment....
  6. That's a new one on me, Jasper, never heard of that from a PCP. Badly set up springers yes but never a pre-charge. Be interesting to see what's causeing it Cheers.
  7. I'm really not being funny, Mrs Mole, it's not a change of gun you need, it's a change of technique that's in order. No excuse for that, it's just bad gun handleing. Sorry, just saying how it is Cheers.
  8. Mate, if you're going for your FAC then you've got pretty much the best springer there is for the job. In .22 around 30ft-lbs is easily achievable and around 23 in .177 is within easy reach too. Be VERY careful if you're thinking about any DIY mods though and make sure you have a chrono if you do. With the Diana 48/52/54 it can be very hard to keep them below the limit Cheers.
  9. I still don't like mil-dots..... I've got them but just find them a distraction. I want my 30-30 or 4A back!!!
  10. Give me a shout when you're in Tadcaster, Davy, that's very close to Simon's and also close to where I live
  11. They only go to 'bunny heaven' when they're shot by a Daystate or a Ripley, mate, otherwise they're destined to walk the Earth for all eternity in 'bunny limbo'!!!!!
  12. Thanks for that, Davy, I'll give them a call next week. Can't afford it right now but at least I'll have a better idea about price and availability. Give me a shout when you're in Tadcaster, mate. That's very close to Simon's and also close to where I live Cheers, mate.
  13. Hi, folks. In spite of the Diana's feck up, I had a really great afternoons shooting. The gun's an easy fix and considering how old it is and how much use it's had, I really can't complain too much and I'm lucky enough to have my trusty 90 to fall back on. I really do like that old Diana though but the repair will have to wait a while 'cos I'm a bit skint just now and my car needs a few quid spending on it first Thanks to Simon for the great report and to Si for the pics and video. It's nice to have a proper record for once!! It's always an education meeting other shooters and th
  14. You're right there, Wurz!! I view my guns as tools and a tool gets used so it's inevitable that they'll pick up the odd knock but my 52 looks more like it's been in a cement mixer!! Whoever had it before me didn't look after it very well at all. I've got the old thing shooting very well but the cosmetics are a bit, erm..... rough but I've always been of a mind that whatever I'm shooting at won't really be too bothered about how pretty my gun is
  15. Thanks, Wurz. I really can't grumble too much, it's had a hell of a lot of use and it looks like it's spent most of it's life kicking around on the floor of a Landy. More bumps, knocks and scrapes than you can count but it does (did...) shoot very well indeed. It's a very easy repair though so it could be worse. Cheers
  16. Thanks for the link, Si It's not a bad old tool, is it? Goes well for an old bird!! The fix will have to wait for a little while as I'm a bit strapped for cash just now, I'll stick to my 90 in the mean time... Cheers, mate
  17. Hi, Simon. It was still a great day out in spite the 52's faux pas..... and as you say, it could've been worse. It's only a broken lever and an easy fix. At least I've got my 90 to use, so no real hardship but I do really like that old Diana... See ya Sunday, mate!! Cheers.
  18. Hey, lads. Just a quick one..... After an enjoyable shoot with Simon and Si this afternoon, the plan was to go and do a bit of lamping. Guns and shooter's all set up and going well We were aproaching the end of a field and were about to split up and set ambush. Right then, I'd better cock my gun.... Lever came out, started to take up the spring.... CRACK!!!! the feckin' cocking arm snapped clean in half where the pin goes through Just one of those things, I guess. God knows how many tens of thousands of times it must've been used though, nothing lasts forever...... Hey ho
  19. Hi, mate. I'd agree with the HW95, proper quality and not too heavy. It's head and shoulders above BSA springers. Much better build and trigger. Cheers.
  20. I'm being very general here but are you sure the rest of your kit's set up OK? There's not too many HW springers that don't shoot well enough with Super Domes. You may well have one of the very few that don't but before you spend loads of cash on different pellets, go through the basics.... Is everything properly tight? Do you use a mod and if so, is it clipping? Are you sure the scope's OK? Are you new to the sport so maybe your technique could do with a little help? Just a few thoughts, mate Cheers.
  21. I'm not quite sure I understand the question there, mate. What do you mean??
  22. Women!! They're born mad and they'll die mad!!
  23. I'd never had anything to do with Twinks until Si came over for a shoot the other day. I couldn't believe how quiet his R10 was with one fitted, a very good bit of kit
