  1. The first thing you need to do is bin the bi-pod, springers and pods don't mix. The gun MUST be able to recoil in it's own way or your accuracy will never be consistant. If you're shooting prone, rest the rifle on something soft and keep a very gentle hold on the gun. As Mole's said, read Piannoman's thread that's been pinned The best way I can describe best how to hold a springer is that you're not really holding it at all, just providing support for it so that gravity doesn't break your gun for you. Second, bin the Norica pellets. They're not very good quality, mate and that really won'
  2. Not a problem with body shots on squirrel, Darren. Hit them around the shoulder and it's lights out
  3. I shoot all year round, regardless of the weather... I've only very recently started putting hunting posts on the forum and only 'cos I've been meeting up with a few of the regulars who do the same. I've always been happy to keep myself to myself before, help out with the odd question that maybe I can answer and enjoy the craik and the banter Most of my shooting year is involved helping out on a large managed shoot in W.Yorks that I've been involved with since I was a lad. It's more about hard work most of the time and not about shooting, that's just a bonus for me. I don't use a shot
  4. Simon, it's not just this, it's all kinds of crap at the moment. As I said to you and Si when the Diana broke.... 'Some days you're the dog and some days you're the tree'!!!! I'm not in any way superstitious, it's just the way of things sometimes... It'll all work out in the end I've had some great days shooting with you, mate and I'm looking forward to many more I know the 90's sound and I know the JSR 2-7x32 works very well with it so I WILL HAVE NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH MY KIT!!!!! How are you fixed for Thursday...?? Cheers!!
  5. That's a very kind offer, Si. Wurz PMed me a similar offer but I'll be OK I've still got my little Simmons 8 Point 1.5-5x32 as a back up if I need it and I've also got an old EB 6x44 that's been on loan to a mate but it's there if I need to use that. I hate borrowing stuff and with the luck I've been having lately, it'd probably just burst into flames!!! Thanks very much though. Both of you Cheers!!
  6. Thanks for all the kind comments, lads I re-fitted the JSR back on to the 90 last night and I've done a short range zero test at home today and all seems well. I thought I must be at the end of my bad luck streak but my lap top went tits up last night, so now I'm useing my boy's computer which won't go down well when I've got them over next week for the hols...!! When will it end?????? Cheers...... PS... Thanks for the PM, Wurz, that was a very kind offer, mate I won't forget that
  7. A little off topic but I love your avatar!! It's just given me a right giggle!! You're right though, respect to Mary for stcking with it in spite of her hand problems
  8. I know I will, I've overcome dyslexia, a speech problem as a kid, and a broken neck aged 11.. I love shooting and I have Moley as a teacher.. Good for you, Mary, with that attitude you'll beat it I'm sure Just take your time and go with it. I have a permanent shoulder injury that affects my shooting but I've learned to compensate for it and you'll do the same...
  9. I've a JSR/Leapers scope that's seen a lot of use on my springers and it's now back on my 90. It's the 2-7x32 and it's a perfect airgun scope IMO. Lovely clear optics, very strong and robust and it works as well in low light as pretty much any other scope I've used in spite of it's 32mm lense. Cheers.
  10. I think I'll go for it Andy I see they do H&N FTT in .20, they are my favourite with my HW100 and I've heard Weihrauch guns usually like them. They do, mate. I'd also recomend you try Baracudas, they work best through my 90
  11. I know I will, I've overcome dyslexia, a speech problem as a kid, and a broken neck aged 11.. I love shooting and I have Moley as a teacher.. so why do they call you lucky mary shit happens! i have only put the safety on my 410 to see if it works but then i like shooting alone. dont take stuff on here personal there is allways a bit of piss takin an banter. just thank your lucky stars that lurchers or terriers arent your bag cus thats where all the vicious posts happen!ATB frank. o yeah an if you do shoot mole in the arse make sure you put up some pics
  12. It is a cracking spot, Fry but the bunnies are so very easily spooked. Most places I've shot before, when you're creeping quietly and steadily along, they'll drop in to cover then come out again ten or fiveteen mins later. Not here, they go to cover and stay there. There's quite a few Buzzards and hawks about and also owls so I guess they're very wary..... It's just a case of sh*t happens with my kit I've honestly never had anything like the bad luck I've had this past few weeks ever.... Gear I thought I could rely on going wrong. I'll stick my JSR back on the 90, I have faith in that Th
  13. Thanks, Mike. I'll pull them off the camera now and send them to you
  14. Hi, folks. Right then, I don't really believe in luck but this is takeing the p*ss now...... After my Luger scope took in water, my duff batch of Dynamics, the broken cocking arm on my 52, this time out my Walther scope on top of my 90 went tech.....!!!!! I've had more broken and failed kit in the past couple of months than I've had in the last THIRTY YEARS!!!!! We set up at our normal zero check and all was going well to begin with, Simon had his .22 HW77 with a Hawke something or other that had a very (for me ) confuseing reticle and I had my .20 HW90 with the now fecked Walth
  15. No it's not but don't worry about that. They're all a little different and the gauge on the gun normally read about 20 bar high. I used to fill mine to 190 on the gun's gauge (170 bar really....) and get around 70 shots before a re-fill was needed. Edit to add.... That was .22.
  16. Have you tried any of the Falcon range of guns? I know they're not exactly cutting edge these days but very good rifles that aren't too heavy.
  17. Hi, Mary I've only a small amount of experience with PCP's but after trying quite a few out, I settled on the AA410c. That said, mine was an early one with no safety I was shooting Zini's R10 the other day and that was a really nice rifle to shoot for me. As always though, what feels 'right' for one person my not feel right for you. Try to handle as many different guns as you can to see which ones sit well in your hands, gun choice is a very personal thing.... Good luck, whatever you choose Cheers.
  18. I wasn't being critical, Mrs Mole, I was trying to help you. I could see from your post that you'd made a mistake that many others have made before you. Move on, learn from what happened and continue to enjoy your shooting knowing that you're a little wiser than you were before....
  19. Don't give up, just learn from what happened. Just keep your finger out of the trigger guard until the gun's pointing down-range. Your hand will get better in time, I'm sure..... PLEASE don't let it put you off
  20. Mrs Mole..... Please accept an on-line hug and a kiss from me  I wasn't having a go at you and anyone who claims never to have made the odd mistake hasn't really tried much, have they?? You fecked up, you had the good sense to ask for advice and you got some Sleep on it and enjoy your shooting tommorow. I'm not calling you incometent or any other such thing, it's just a simple case of getting the basics right and following a safe code of practice. We ALL feck up in one way or another especially when we're fairly new to something. Cheers
