I'm based in Leeds and there's mixy on both the farms I shoot on. My boys live just up the road in Otley and it's bad round there too. Shame.....

If you're shooting live targets, a pistol has no advantage at all. I use an EB22 and King Ratty amongst other things, and it's very hard to place an accurate shot with a pistol compared to a rifle. Pistol's are fun and in VERY skilled hands they can be ok (at best) for close range small vermin shooting. There's no reason why you should choose a top class pistol, over even a basic rifle at all for pest control.

The EB22's a top bit of kit. I've used one as a back-up for a long time and it's never let me down. Dead simple and reliable and plenty fun for plinking.

I use the Marshal M/T (made by Kumo) on my SWB Toyota and can't fault them for the price. I had a set of BFG muds on before and they grip at least as well off road and much better on road. I don't think the mileage will be great as they seem to be a rather soft compound, but I can cope with that for the price and I don't crap myself on the road when it's wet anymore.

I live in the Leeds area and shoot a couple of farms on the outskirts. Both have Mixy and driving around the Olley area, where my boys live, I've seen a few of the poor little buggers sitting by the road looking very sorry for themselves. I know they're a pest but as deaths go, Mixy's nasty.

The option's on both are huge, so depending on how much you've got to spend, keep it simple. If you're looking at imports, watch for any signs of head problems. They are prone to over-heating and cracking. It's not a problem so long as the correct coolant's been used, it's a special one for the both or those motors and they need it or they'll break. Auto box's can give problems if the fluid's not been changed when it should've or the wrong type's been used. In spite of what you may have heard, they are not as strongly built as their reputation deserves, more 'bling' than function. If use

Hello, Mikey and welcome! What caliber and gun are you useing?

How did you obtain your license and was it for air rifles only? It was for airguns only and it was easy for me at the time. I worked on a large estate as an assistant keeper and had a shotgun certificate at that time. Called in to my local Cop-shop, and had a talk to the FAO. It's not so easy now and for me, it's not worth it anymore. If you need proper long range shots and are going for an FAC, go for 17hmr, .22lr or both........ You won't get many more bunnies in your bag with 30 odd ft/lb's than what you've got now.

I enjoyed reading that. It's similar to my own dealings with FAC airguns. It's a long time since I had an airgun 'on ticket', but when I did I had an RWS 52 in .22 shooting 32 ft/lb with Crosman Premiers. I know things have come on a long way in recent years but I used that gun almost every day on the estate where I worked, and knew how and where it shot very well. I used to practice on empty shot gun cases out to 75 yards and yes, I know how far 75 REAL yards is. If conditions were perfect, I'd shoot quarry at that range, but they seldom are. I let my FAC go about ten years back, and have

Interesting. Always been a top bit of kit. As for your use of the English language, you've put a few folks on here to shame.

I've had some good deals and service from J.S. Ramsbottom. They've been trading airgun gear for ever and seem to know their stuff. Fleabay can be ok for cammo and stuff, but beware of buying hardware from there. Lot's of seconds, coppies and all kinds of s**t.

Bloody hell! That's going a back a long time. You'll be hard pushed to find any of those, mate. Have you tried something light and softish? RWS Hobby might be worth a go.

Hi Ian, Try having a look >here<, you may just find it of help to you mate. In order for you to 'reset' the scope, I would suggest you try and centralize the crosshairs again and try going onwards from there - if you read through the thread, you will find all the information you should need right there. IMHO, you shouldn't need to shim the scope mounts really - you have a decent scope, and if you recentralize the crosshairs, and remount the scope on the mounts, i can see no reason why you shouldn't be able to achieve a zero point without shims on the scope mounts? I

Dead easy to fit and it'll transform your gun! Fitted one to my old Webley Xocet a while ago and I can't recomend them enough!

it is a smk 19 air rifle with standard scope mounts and richter optik 6x40 scope. it also has a silencer if that helps. Was it working ok before, or have you changed something? it has been set up perfectly before. i got it in october last year and it has been set up for a while but i noticed about a month ago it was out so i got my grandad to set it up a few days ago and he couldnt get it down any further so my uncle tried but he cant get it any thurther down. i cant either. i havent changed anything. If the gun's working ok and your silencer's lined up, sounds like it's most l

What gun's it on, mate? Is it a new set-up?
-
That's very true. In the same way a lot of men don't really know what 6 inch's looks like...........

When I had an FAC, up to 75 yards regularly. RWS 52, Crosman Premiers .22. 32 ft.lb. These days no more than 40ish yards. HW90. .177. Bisley Mags.

For BOB has spoken. All hail BOB!! Ahmen...........

Slight price difference - between V mach tune and Gas Ram I have a HW90 in .22 - Kept as Spare - prefer to use my Precharged Gun's BOB/R Damn. I'd better Moth-ball my spring Guns. Spend 3 or 4 hundred quid Extra on Something that I niether Really need or Can afford......... Sound advice On this Topic. Thanks...... ANDY

Fair comments, lads. They're maybe better than I gave them credit for. Good luck, mate, whatever you choose. Cheers.

By the time you've done spening money and time on an XS, you'd be better off with a second hand BSA Lightning, Webley Xocet or something similar.
-
Thanks, mate. Good to know. Any one else?? Cheers.
