  1. Seems to me there are people on here that have difficulty putting hare coursing in a good light. Though the interviewer was obviously biased. He did not need much help to win his case did he? That fella's argument that he is doing" pest control", first question ",have you permission"? Answer, "no". Collapse of argument.
  2. good point unfit but if the farmer used dogs to catch and kill them would they be done for illeagal coursing what about this ,if the farmer was to allow some thing to get into a river or stream ,and it polluted it ,and it killed all the fish ,he would get done by the EA ,and would have to pay a big fine and all the cost ,so what is the difference ,none.but he can get away with admiting to killing hares in big numbers ,that were protected because they say they were in decline . Farmers, in the areas mentioned ,are having hares shot to discourage illegal coursing . i am sorry, I don't see
  3. Perhaps its me ,but I can't see the point of your argument. Maybe , you could rephrase it? By the way ,where was I wrong in the first place?

  5. Here is a post |I put up a year ago on this. 6. The lad is looking for advice not slagging off, but it is crap mate, try complete food but also add, cooked veg carrots, turnip, cabbage etc minced beef or shin beef, pasta and plenty of uncooked marrow bones from your local butcher. Or boil two or three rabbits until bones soft add meal, veg and pasta, will last a few days and good grub. Ive been feeding similar to this for 30 years and worked the dogs hard with no ill effect. You are right ,no need to slate the lad off. Good diet, allthough I would feed raw, just to add NO ONIONS, they are toxic to dogs ,as are grapes.
  7. Who,Khan Jihad ,or Hungry Bollucks? tut tut mate have i ofended you only saying what i think im not having a go at anyone in paticular so it seems to me that your being about eight year old You haven't offended me ,and I didn't intend to offend you ,just couldn't resist the obvious small pun. Nothing personal. Peace Brother. no worries mate Good man,I actually posted ,before the post " he is eight in december " was posted,so I can see my post looked a bit sarky, after that was added.
  8. I beleive its nearly all water isn't it?. Raw mince would be better ,with a good high protein meal imo. My dogs live predominantly on raw rabbit , plus eggs ,and giblets ,a couple of tins of pilchards a week .raw bones ,and greyhound meal to fill up the crevices, [as Phil Drabble said].

  10. Well gangs of blokes either driving or walking across land they have no permission on aren't doing anyone any favours imo. The media will obviously concentrate on these people, and emphasise the more lurid stories,,ie damage to crops abuse to farmers, stolen farm equipment etc.In no way am I suggesting that all or even most lads do this , but there is a small minority that have made it bad news for the rest of dog men imo. I mentioned this many months ago and was told it was the legal coursing men that got the game a bad name, make your own mind up about that. I was talking to two local

  13. Perhaps,...a long, long time ago,...in another life... Long Ago And Far Away,as W.H .Hudson said.
  14. I beleive it was D.B. P. now deceased ,who told me you had a passing acquaintance with these beasts years ago

  17. Iv'e never had a problem with it ,I prefer to kennel two together, but I have three so my oldest is on his own in kennels ,but with the other two.when I am about,he and the youngest play like pups,Smokey the middle dog is the odd one out.The other two would bully him a bit if I let them.
  18. A very good friend of mine used Spud on his saluki cross bitch ,he was the wrong choice for what he hunted, but the pup he kept had a heart as big as a building.
  19. Pre ban I only ran in England ,but on all types of going. I've no problem with Irish dogs or their owners met some very good guys from across the water ,at the Forley . All I did was ask Iceman to name some of the Irish winners of English competitions he spoke of, his silence has been deafening. Have a good season.
  20. You are right about them coming from English stock,a friend of mine who ran in the Millenium Forley Cup, [he was one of the finalists] ,has sent several dogs over there. Any dog that runs the fens has to learn get over very wide dykes, and they don't do it by swimming, of course they can jump. The problem with the Irish dogs is, not that they aren't bred well enough, but that they are not used to the big land and long courses. As you know ,they do allright in their own country. I just asked" Iceman" to name some of the Irish dogs that have won competitions over here ,and what competitions,

Dont forget to tell the Old Bill which day you are going to be out.

  23. I have to agree with you, running on a slip means you can pick and choose your hare. A young, inexperienced dog needs success early in its career ,sod's law it will see the jack getting up 300yds away and take off after it,and just as surely one will jump right near you while it is off on its fruitless chase. Time enough later for the long slips ,when the dog is proficient at picking up its quarry.
