  1. I beleive it is out of Sankeys Blondie ,put to a Nuttal stud, maybe the brother of Foxy, but not positiveIve got Fettle on video running in the Forley looked very impressive.
  2. Yes! a good idea for you ,Ive seen you shoot, not too shabby with a rifle ,but decidedly average with a shot gun.By the way how did you get on without yourTeacher,[me],last night?
  3. I had a very fast coursing dog ,who dislocated his left front leg at a dyke,he recovered to work rabbits and foxes but never coursed again ,the leg never regained its former flexibility and he couldnt turn as well, its a long haul but I was glad I did it ,he gave me years of honest work and companionship. All the best with your bitch.Inan.
  4. Some good replies on here ,but even mating two top class workers guarantees nothing,in the coursing game some outstanding dogs have thrown nothing special at stud, even when mated to good bitches, all you can say is you are more likely to produce a worker if it is bred from proven parents.Inan.
  5. Why is everyone so down on Tony? I loved his "Half Hour" programmes, very funny man ,didnt know he was in to field sports ,did he go Lamping withSid James? Inan.
  6. One of us even knows how to shoot it! Inan.
  7. Speedy Magwich ,my shooting partner and I take up to 50 bunnies a night ,shooting from my 4x4,,they are laid out on sacks in the back ,then at the end of the night ,one of us slits them and the other pulls out the guts ,its quick and saves time and space ,on arriving home ,I put in to the freezer s those rabbits not immdeiately required ,the others go into a spare fridge for attention in attention in the morning ,allways try and keep ,your bunnies seperate ,as you collect them ,that way the have a chance to cool out, squash them up together and they will retain heat for ages and can spoil,we
  8. Penny Taylor,s articles in the CW are the best thing in it,imo, thoughtful, perceptive and practical information from a very experienced dog-woman who has a wealth of knowledge on all aspects of working running dogs. Inan.
  9. Very refreshing to see someone taking the time to bond withtheir dogs ,and puting the basics in to them, with recall and retreiving, plus stock steadywork, all money in the bank for later on best wishes with them for the future.Inan.
  10. I acquired one of these last year, but found it rather hard to skin out,the meat was tender enough but has a distinctive flavour and smell,it was appreciably larger than the muntys Ive had ,but I think I prefer their flavour when it comes to eating.Maybe thats due to my lack of culinary skills as Ive been told the CWD is better eating.
  11. Stat speaks very well of yourself too P,and your dogs, which is not allways a given as you may know.
  12. INan my oldest lurcher has been on three muntys, and got spiked by the second ,a particularly frisky buck, this was on a friends permission as they are not around these parts ,kent].strangely the dog seemed to know instinctively to go for the throat hold, preban of course.
  13. The bitch is probably showing its maturity and its scent is kicking in so the dog is reacting ,I would think, caught my big dog Inan, humping,my rabbiting dog Smoky,,he isnt gay just showing his dominance,I hope so anyway!
  14. D S,s advice on the lambs breast seems sound, plenty of fat in lamb ,I would doubt the dog was wormy ,that usually increases their appetite,Ive the opposite problem,Ive a year old beddiex collie xwhippet ,kept for bunnies,he will eat any thing ,and stands next to me when Im peeling spuds hoping a bit of peel misses the bin,he isnt wormy ,but demolishes fruit, lettuce, celery, any vet pill such as Amoxycillin,or Rimadyl as though they were sweets,he caught a dove in the garden recently and retreived it to the back door for me,as it was shut he ate it feathers and all.
  15. You answered your own question ,they have no morals,or sense of sportsmanship, and usually no sense as they are happy to put up pics of their exploits,as though they were somehow commendable, but then they are just numpties ,who no nothing of real coursing, pre ban,and have no notion of how good a January hare is on big land ,given fair law.
  16. I take it it was a greyhound,if so it showed a bit of puff but it didnt do much with the hare did it? Still allways nice to see a dog behind its game cheers Frank.
  17. Thought that might get some attention! There isnt a place for this topic so I put it here, hope no one minds. My old coursing partner Andy keeps a few mixed game fowl and chickens, the hens are mostly broody at present,he was out in the garden when he heard one of the Game Cocks scufling with a hen under a bush, thinking he was treading her he took no notice but when the noise got louder he took a look ,it wasnt a love in but a fight ,and not between two chickens ,the Game fowl was having a knockdown drag out with a Crow! Eventually the Game cock got his spurs to work and killed the crow ,but i
  18. Well hes certainly grown ,time flies eh? Looking a treat ,a credit to you.
  19. Magwitch is wearing his NV green filter mask in this pic,INAN,[mr potato head]
  20. I sold one a couple of months ago ,fired less than 200 rds without scope I sold it for £90
  21. Sniper was a great dog but his running style ,at least when I saw him, was different to tjat you describe ,he took his time and often seemed to play with hares ,maybe we saw him at different times of his career. Judy was a very impressive bitch ,fast and could stay ,with a great strike, she was owned by P Winters ,the dog that beat her in the re run final ,Ink , was lethal on plough I saw it on another occasion ,very classy dog,I looked at that video recently ,some good doubled up dogs on it,brought back some old memories.
  22. Ive used the Germolene ,it seems to work ,and as Skycat says it has an anaesthetic quality to it,good for your hands when you have been ferreting around nettles too!
  23. Nice pics Reload,is that pup related to Skycats ?
  24. Sky cats advice is "on the money"as usual, its very tempting to bawl them out when they finally come back but you have to grit your teeth and lavish praise on them ,a dog of this advanced age is probably never going to be like a yo yo ,and when lamping will proably start what is the biggest pain in the bum ,hunting up,as another poster suggested you might try hiding when the dog wanders ,its worked for me a couple of times when a dog has started to "deaf me out",Good Luck!
