  1. I found it the other way round leec & inan, out of the few dogs that ive seen ran in both places the fen dogs had the harder time running S P or the fields around there, I'm not saying they didn't do a good job just found it harder. The fens are a lot better to watch a dog run as the hares are not over the hill and out of sight and you can get better runs. Yes that was one thing about the fens you could normally see all the course,SP ,s rolling fields meant you were sometimes running nearly as fast as the dog trying to see the run.!
  2. the daytime dog iv got now is only two so its not been on the fens yet they are line bred merlin xeve out me mates dads good frend bruce woodcocks dogs R.I.P weve had this line ov dogs ten years and theve always been spot on for day time snoop Bruce bred some OUTSTANDING stuff Wilkie is one that springs to mind ALWAYS had a good dog about him Got a tape of his dog "Max" winning the Calender cup single handed comp.the forerunner to the Forley Ive a tape somewhere of Bruce running a three way match with Jimmy Ford and Daz,never met him but he came across as a nice man ,if mem
  3. Youre not wrong there Snoops ,nothing beats dog work ,imo.Magwitch and I shoot a lot of bunnies out of my 4x4 ,but it isnt the same ,doesnt give you that buzz, unfortuanately ,a lot of our permission is dense orchards ,and its not a good idea to be running a dog in there after bunnies, espcially at night.Inan.
  4. Ok mush I will answer if your prepared to answer the same questions I would love to know a bit more about you Interestingly ,ther have been a lot of good dogs from the Geordie lands in recent years,Sankeys , Dancer and Blondie,Annie,Fettle, all vey good animals and all from a small vilage I beleive.I saw Blondie win the ForleyCup ,,the Millenium year,I was there rooting for my mates dog Red,six dogs took 5 out of 5 over 2 days, before Blondie took the cup ,an exceptional bitch.especially when you consider the dogs that entered that year,Lucky,Maisie,Red,Elsie,Peggy,Hammy,s bitch ,whose
  5. Well the bitch wont have any trouble feeding her,and you wont have the hassle of selling the pups! All the best with her.Inan.
  6. Id say the hares on the fens are consistantly the best ,Salisbury Plain would run it close, though its year s since I ran there,I found a place on the Essex /Herts border where the hares were allways tough, terrain plays such a part in how successful a dog is,its hard to compare different areas.Something that has struck me is how many people have been quick to offer their opinion on the subject,,which is fine, but when they are asked what running they have done to form that opinion ,they fall silent, interesting that. Its all academic now anyway that was pre ban ,this is now.Inan.
  7. Joe if you arent ignorant on the subject of fen hares why didnt you answer a civil question about your experience?.Where you want to take this is up to you ,just remember it was you who started with the digs and name callingJust to help you ,Im 5 8 with glasses ,and 59 in a couple of weeks ,not too threatening really. Now lets put this to bed ,if its boring me it must be boring everyone else,Ive allready spent too much time on it ,Ive got dogs to get out .See you maybe.Inan. I forgot to ask you to post a pic of yourself,so we will be on even terms. Watch him joe ox he was Kent's top wrestli
  8. There was a litter trio of these that coursed in a club I belonged to pre ban ,all three were good ,gast and with stay ,one bitch in particular was very impressive,Ive often wondered why this cross isnt more popular.

  11. I wasnt referring to him ,I hope he understands that.
  12. Mush ,your mention of Salisbury plains takes me back a few years .I used to run there in the long ago ,your,e right about the hares being good, very good in fact,Ive seen dogs straightlined on the plain,I liked your bit about the lampers, its a great sport ,but it aint coursing, why some people jump in on subjects they have no experince of beats me,must be attention seekers.Inan.
  13. The problem with you Dumb Ox is you got involved ,jumping on the band wagon of a subject ,which you know JACK SHIT ABOUT,namely THE FENS,FEN HARES,AND HOW THEY RUN,when I called you on it you didnt have the balls to admit you were ignorant on the subject, you not only dug your own hole ,you filled yourself in as well, numpty
  14. I agree. J Darcy writes a good post highlighting the fact that hares find escape routes in drains pipes foxholes, and hedges.allof which is true.,a couple of pages ago you wrote."WHERE FIELDS ARE BIG ,LIKE ON THE FENS ,WITH NOWHERE FOR THE HARES TO ESCAPE",SO BY AGREEING WITH DARCYS POST ,WHICH IS ACCURATE,YOU CONTRADICT YOURSELF.DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHERE THE FENS ARE?iF YOU HAD ANY CREDIBILITY BEFORE ,YOU HAVENT ANY NOW! i have ran meny a hare pre ban and the only hares i have had eny experiance of that has went down eny kind of hole is the( blue hare ) i have seen brown hares jump
  15. When I was running dogs in competitions ,preban I gave them 1 1/2 hr bushing ,and roadwork trotting beside a bike ,gradually increasing the distance up to 6 miles ,and speeding up the time taken to about 45 mins.Ive never had a big enough area to run a dog behind a car ,and would be a bit worried about the fumes they would inhale as they followed the car, plenty of good high protein grub and rubdowns ,plus some lamping allways seemed to do the trick for me,of course every dog is different as you know Snoops so you have to adjust your programme to suit the individual dogs requirements.A bonus t

  17. Ive been coursing for 37 years ,so I might have some idea what is involved.Im not going to go on with this roundabout, with you .You saw fit to jump in on a subject, and I asked you what experience you had of it. NOW THAT IS 4 TIMES I ASKED YOU WHAT EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE OF FEN COURSING? YOUR DEAFENING SILENCE LEADS ME TO THE CONCLUSION I THOUGHT I WOULD REACH..YOU HAVENT A BROWN NOSE JOE BUT YOU DO HAVE EGG ON YOUR FACE. END OF STORY.
  18. Are you talking about coursing or not, your description of a run makes me wonder, you dont know me or anything about me yet you make assumptions as to how I ran my dogs on hares .Fair law was given to hares in clubs I was a member of which ran in Suffolk ,Cambridge,Norfolk and Lincs. You made a statement that"where the fields are big like on the fens with nowhere for the hares to escape",that tells me all I need to know about your experience on the fens,Ive asked you 3 times how much youve don e on the fens? Illask you once more ,HOW MUCH COURSING HAVE YOU DONE ON THE FENS?
  19. Tongue in cheek? Surely Joe Yes miles inan are are you having a pop at me? Having a pop at you? Youve got it arse about face havent you? You were the one asking if my nose was brown weren,t you? I just responded to your snipe. I see nowhere on this thread any confirmationby Nitedog that his remarks to Skycat were tongue in cheek ,so my remarks to him stand.Since you chose to offer up your bit I replied, and when you impplied that fen hares needed 100 yds law ,I asked you how much experience you have of fen coursing? In fact I asked you 3 times,no reply so far.Im not having
  20. When coursing its custom to give hares to100 yds any where you are running its called sportsmanship, which seems to be a little out of fashion ,judging by some of the comments. You didnt reply to my question about how much experience of running fen hares you have? Id like an answer, especially in the light of your comment that fen hares need a100yds law,as though they were easy to catch. How much have you done?
  21. No my nose isnt brown ,it might be a little red from the real ale I drank Sunday.I dont think Nite dog was talking tongue in cheek,he doesnt appear that subtle. I read your two bobs worth about fair law,"how many lurcher men can honestly say they give every hare fair law"? That was roughly the gist of it wasnt it? Nite dog started the post ,about Fen hares and how good they are,it seems to me that how much law you allow the hare before slipping your dog ,would be crucial in evaluating how good the hares are ,and also how good your dog is,so I fail to see you r point. We arent talking about on

  23. Must be a top litter ,that ones caught a tiger singlehanded allready!
  24. Lovely strong pup,you can see the saluki can't you.I havent seen the parent s run ,but have Foxy on tape excellent Bitch ,probably has the best match record ever.Freddies Charlie has thrown some nice dogs and Dancer was a very good bitch,if its down to the blood ,you are 3 parts there allready, all the best with you r latest "contender".Inan.
