Nothing to worry about ,its very common in dogs with a lot of whippet blood in them ,the term just describes the curve of the dogs back ,as oppossed to a level one ,it as no effect on the dogs running ability,I beleiveit is required as part of the standard of the Borzoi.Inan.

I was at Epsom many years ago when a horse called Mill Reef won the Derby, and I won £350 quid on him,a great day and a very great horse.

I would echo Dales advice ,the dog may still make it ,but he may only take fox "doubled up",some dogs will bowl a fox repeatedly whenever it runs but refuse to go in and hold it when it shows its teeth, the same dog often does the business when teamed up .The problem with running two dogs on "Charlie",is that one often latches on one end and the other dog takes the stick, but to start him Dales Advice is sound ,[imo].

I would try him without the terrier,at least that might narrow down the reason for his behaviour, looks like you are going to need binoculars to see where he is stashing his catches,

Sooner was a colored bitch ,a saluki hybrid owned by Willie Tough ,a very well known and respected coursing man from Urmaston in Manchester,he had a riding establishment there.Sooner had bottomless stamina and though not the fastest dog Ive seen she was relentless,Ive got an old Calendar Club video of her running a hare for several minutes and eventually catching it ,very impressive,I saw Spindles run once on a day out as a guest of the Calendar Club ,it was only a pup then but ran well,Willie was judging the courses on horse back ,[he was also a MFH]Spindles was running doubled up and looked

Yes David,I own their Sire. Here is a picture of him. The Blue/Black is quite dominant is the Laguna/Sooty Sam lines. These pups will be crackers.Lee Excuse me for asking but when showing dogs at these prestigious shows(crufts), if the dog has any marks or scars does it make a difference as to how they are judged? If so my dog is out,Pic 3 Scar on front leg,and inside back legs toes. Any chance of a pic of Dam with pups.Lee Springfield you put a pic up before of your stud, and as I said then he is a lovely st

Anyone ever outcross to wild polecat ?? (breeding)
inan replied to Ruger8's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
I have tried it and have also had the same results as Ditch speaks of - you'd have as much chance trying to train a stoat to sit quietly in your hand as a poley X. Just use a well bred stock ferrets from known workers and there should be no need to 'fire up' the blood line with the 'real deal'. OTC I remember an article in the C W a few years ago the writer tried this outcross and warned against it,he said all the kits were very hand shy,I dont see tge benefits from using a Polecat myself ,I like a steady worker who will come to you without darting in and out of the hole and when i -

Sky cat is right ,its known as a queen anne collar, you can make your own out of stiff cardboard, but the vet should have done so,failing that how a bout mustard!

Well done to you for writing to Light force and making them aware of the problem,Ive made my gaurantee void by modifying the connections and strengthening them,I should have done as you did and complained to the suppliers, hopefully they may rectify the problem, and upgrade their leads so they are the equal of their excellent lamp.Once again well done! Inan.

You said it!,and maybe it could ,in a fashion "rocking horsing",but could it do it again, after a 20 min rest? and could it catch a hare after a 5 min course?I like collie crosses ,Ive had a couple and Ive a pup with collie blood in it,but I didnt get him for Jacks,Dale is entitled to his preferences,as are we all but for big land the Saluki hybrid is unbeatable,How mant singlehanded competitions have Collie or Deerhound crosses won in the last 20 years? The collie types are at their best at the obedience trials and really shine in them, the Deerhound crosses are fast ,pretty versatile ,especial

Just got back in after several near misses over the last few weeks My 10 monthold pup Smokey finally caught a bunny ,two actually ,they were pretty easy rabbits for an experienced dog but Im not complaining, hope these will be the first of many.

id match my deerhound/greyhound on any breed , its not the breed , its the heart , i have a little 18'' whippet which runs round colliexgreyhounds ect round this way , depends on how hard your dog works , my deerhound/greyhound would run hare after hare , not bigging myself / my dog up but i just know what my dog can do , you cant say deerhound x 's are useless , ect , they are adapted and can run any land , at end of day its all down to what dog suits you , same as i wouldnt touch a bull/greyhound , its all just peoples opionons Dale Ive no wish to put your choice of cross down ,bu

Just got back ,drove 12 miles to do a spot of lamping, trying to get a bunny in my pups gob, tested the lamp [a light force stiker] before I went got on my permission ,connections come adrift,QWhy do Light force make such excellent lamps and then put such rubbish connections on them ? Im really pissed off.Inan.

Youhave cut to the chase Ian ,Ive a 27 in dog here out of Lucky he will take fox [or did before the ban ]doubled up but will only bowl and fence with a fox if on his own,he isnt and never will be a fox dog ,I got him for coursing so thats ok,Ive a 10 month old whip/colliexbeddie,who has been on two genuine accidental foxes ,daylight flushes from cover ,both time he has latched on and though nipped wpuldnt let go,he may have the makings but the big dog though powerful and strong ,he took Munties before the ban ,doesnt want it ,at least not solo, dogs either have it or they dont,in my limited e

My coursing partner Andy lost a good dog Silks,he was killed running a rabbit in an orchard ,he collided with a tree and broke his neck,I would be very wary of running fast dogs like whippets in such places.

Well done your pup,and fair play to you for saying you wont go silly with it,looks like you both have some great hunting in front of you.Inan
