  1. I use a Howa 1500, stainless, synthetic stock, in 243, fitted with a Wildcat predator 8 mod. for both Foxing and Deer. I find this a great all round rifle, and ideal for my purpose.
  2. Agree 100% Snap . Sensible words that are true for the shooting of any live quarry.
  3. Nice pics, I really like the one of the Roe .
  4. I was out yesterday evening and came across one of the local Peregrines with a kill. Unfortunately the Peregrine flew off before I could get the camera out , but I managed a couple of (poor) pics as it circled.
  5. A couple of pics from a walk out the other day.
  6. Sorry to hear that, mate, it's real bad luck. If your tickets open though, you're welcome to have a look out with me sometime to give the new rifle a try. PM me if you're interested (or ring if you've still got my number), and we'll arrange something.
  7. Nice going again Dave. and a few less hungry mouths about later in the year!
  8. I use a tiablo A10, which has an anti spill tube, and this prevents any glare from the mod at any magnification on my meopta scope. If putting tape on the mod doesn't work, you could probably quite easily make a short tube from something, and this will almost certainly work.
  9. There's been a question or two about these units on here and other sites, and I did consider them, as I lamp alone and I wanted to reduce the weight I was carrying, but still be able to shoot out to at least 250 yards. I went for a Tiablo A10G, in the end, and I'm very happy with it. I did add a deben scope mount (as the one that comes with it is a bit fiddly), and fitted my own rocker switch which I attach to the fore-end with elastic bands. The beam is very tight, and I can positively identify foxes to well over 250 yards, and you don't notice any difference in weight when it's on the rif
  10. Anyone interested in N1000 variable power, check for sale section.
  11. N1000 variable power IR Laser - Cost £145, 3 months old, for sale at £120. Anyone close enough is welcome to try the laser out on their set up before buying.
  12. Nice pics of some lovely scenery
  13. At least he/she can spell (single syllable words at least) lol
  14. It's a sigma 50-500mm f/4.5-6.3 APO DG Perfect working order, the only mark is a small bit of paint off the underneath of the tripod shoe, otherwise it's as new condition. Anyone wanting to can have a look and try the lens out.
  15. Do you mean autofocus? If so yes it does. I'd prefer to sell everything as a job lot, but would take £550.
  16. Must be knackered then! This one's in mint condition.
  17. If the perspex is a true infra red filter no visible light will show through, so the light will only be viewable through night vision equipment.
  18. It's Nikon fit so should fit any Nikon DSLR.

  20. The 222 has more than enough power to adequately deal with foxes out to at least 200 yards, and probably a lot further, so I agree with derboy - check from scratch. I used to shoot with a brno 222 using winchester 50 grain psp, and when hit, foxes usually dropped on the spot. The only exception was one that was facing me at about 180 yards, and I hit slightly off centre - the fox only went about 20 yards, and when I picked it (stone dead) the bullet had opened it up from the shoulder right down the side and removed its back leg at the socket. Proof enough of this calibres power.
  21. I'd just like a add a quick note here that the 18650 is a lithium battery and does require some care when using them as they can be very dangerous. Improperly treated cells can explode or start burning, and with lithium, nothing will really put it out once it starts. It is important to monitor the voltage. Don't use any where the voltage is below 2.75V, recycle these. And never charge above 4.2V Most inexpensive chargers will continue to charge them up to 4.5V, slowly so once the charge light goes green you can safely remove them, but if you leave them overnight you might have a nasty surp
  22. Assuming it's a lead/acid battery it's life will be rolonged if you keep it charged. No need to fully discharge it, just put it on charge as soon as you've used it and you should get several years use from it. Hope this helps.
  23. Well done, sounds a shot to be proud of . Like the write up too, keep em coming. I've been looking forward to getting out a couple of nights at the weekend but driving home late last night it started to snow heavily and the landscape was completely white which made me think my plans might be scuppered again , but thankfully this morning it's nearly all gone so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
  24. Well done Dave . I've been having similar frustrations to you lately - crap conditions, jumpy foxes, equipment playing up, the list could just go on and on! Anyway I bagged my first for 2011 last saturday, so hopefully things'll now start to improve
