  1. I walk miles in wellies, both at work and shooting, lamping etc. I've tried so many different makes of wellie, and after getting a pair of Muckboot spey this time last year, I can honestly say that they're the most comfortable by far. They can be a little warm for summer use, but that's the only drawback I've found. They're wide fitting too, which is good for me as I suffer with a painfull big toe joint, so the less pressure in that area the better. Kenny
  2. Thank you . .. . the photo has actually captured her looking serene and worry free . . . . the reality was 40 hounds had just pushed her from her hiding place, and she wasn't hanging around for anyone! I'd a feeling the reality might've been something like that
  3. Sounds like he's learning quickly, and he'll soon be catching, well done both of you.
  4. If the batterys are lead acid type it's important that you keep them fully charged, i.e put them on charge as soon as you get home even if you've not used the lamp much. Never wait till they run fully flat. If you look after them like this you should get several years use from them. If you've been doing this, then you could have a short circuit somewhere. Check that there's no connection between the two terminals from anything that could conduct electricity, even a bit of moisture on the battery can allow current to gradually drain. It doesn't sound as though there's a problem with the lamp,
  5. Great shots those Hannah. I particularly like the one of the Deer caught in mid air. Kenny
  6. I think these lads have given you some sound advice. I hope all goes well for you. Good luck mate.
  7. Nothing wrong with starting em on the lamp, in my opinion. I've done it that way. Good luck, and I hope all goes well for you. Looking forward to hearing how you get on.
  8. Thought I'd post some more photos showing the successful outcomes of some of my recent Foxing outings. Most people on here seem to appreciate photos in posts, and I don't intend to offend anyone by posting images of dead animals, so if someone doesn't like that sort of thing then simple, don't look! These Foxes had all been causing damage to farm livestock and/or poults, therefore removing them from the equation was necessary. I think the most memorable of these Foxes, was one which I came accross at dusk recently. I was heading back to the farm after an unsuccessfull couple of hours sat i
  9. spot on Dell. had staff try to grab Bryn about 6 months ago, i always carry big stick it ran in, and jabb'ed in the feckin neck stoped for a while, then the woman came over and grabed the dog. Its the last thing you need with any dog, got my pup now bullx, and he will be a powerful dog when mature, and you dont want it kicking off with any dog, pricks like that shouldnt keep dogs, because they will bump into the wrong dog one day,and its only the dogs will lose out in the end..?? Dead right Bird. We see it all too often, people who think they look so cool and hard as they're being dragged
  10. Hear Hear! Well said heart of wales.
  11. I like them. Granted there are much brighter lamps on the market, but I've been using a lazerlite for years now, and it gives ample light for what I need. I use mine with lurchers, and mount it to the scope on my 243.
  12. Good stuff. These difficult Foxes are always the most satisfying, well done.
  13. Thanks for the comments. It's definitely a Vole .If you look closely (at this and some of the other pics I took in the sequence)you can see by the length of the tail that it's a Field Vole. Had it been a Bank Vole the tail would have been even longer. Also the blunt nose, which is visible in some of the other pics indicates a Vole rather than a mouse. Kenny No worries mate, must be my fecking eyes! I used to know a place where there was always at least a pair of barn owls. Some big holiday firm took over the location where they lived, and there was a huge uproar when they want
  14. this is the exact poem my dad recited to me 2 mins before the first class, and although i got a bit of stick from working owners i did what i thought was right after all its just the judges opinion the dog i chose was the best on the day worker or not I think you did the right thing, as judge you chose the dog which on the day looked as though it could do the job.
  15. Hi Mick, The shot was just under 100 yards. Kenny
