  1. Harlequins come in quite a few colour/spot variations, but I'm sure Muttle's right these are 7 spot ladybirds and larvae. Still very nice pics though.
  2. I use/have used many different types, and I've found that some will be more effective than others on any given night. For the last 10 years or so I've stuck to what for me work best. They are: Wam, Foxcall, and my hand. I think that more important than the make or model of the call, is making a realistic sound, so when buying a call, my advice would be to get one that you think sounds right, and get in plenty of practice. Hope this helps, Kenny
  3. I'm on about my fourth one now - Probably a bit heavy handed . But they really are effective, and great fun!! . I use heavy duty rechargeable batteries, and the whole house knows when you've zapped a fly, from the crack it makes as they literally explode .
  4. If you asked this question on the terrier section, Im sure there's some on there who know of dogs been killed by a fox below ground. I've personally never witnessed it, but I've heard about it happening from some of the older terriermen, people who I consider to be genuine and not prone to exaggerating.
  5. I think I was just lucky with this one, it can't have been warmed up enough to fly off.
  6. Came across this little beauty last week, just on the edge of the moors. It was still pretty cool so I was able to get quite a few decent (for me!) pics.
  7. Glad you like them. They do provide a good opportunity for some pics but I do prefer them to stay outside the shed!
  8. No, they're Field Voles and a Woodmouse.
  9. All very much alive! I prefer to keep them out of the shed completely, and I'm pretty sure they were getting in at the bottom of the door where it sticks a bit. Time will tell .
  10. Then yesterday...................
  11. Although I keep the Dog food secure, I sometimes spill some which I usually sweep straight up, but I found this little fella contentedly snacking on a piece I'd missed. It was inside an old fish tank beneath the table in the shed, and wasn't at all bothered about being photographed before I released it (outside and at the far end of the garden). Next day there were two, which kept squaring up to each other.
  12. Nikon D200 body, boxed + 2 batteries, £200 + P+P. PM for more details.
  13. Can't say that I particularly like their song, but they're very good mimics. I often heard them copying other Bird song, and even the old telephone ring.
  14. They're much rarer round here now too. Years ago around this time, there would be huge flocks of youngsters filling the hedge tops waiting for their parents to feed them, now it's rare to see more than a dozen or so together.
  15. As there's been some good and interesting posts about bird and egg I.D lately, let's see who can get this one
  16. If that's a Jackdaw egg then she's got f**king big hands! It's a House Sparrow.
  17. One of a pair of Does that have been feeding in the back field for the past few months. I watched a Buck chasing one of them up and down the hedge of the next field last night, but after a steady stalk, with camera ready, they both lay down in the hedge, and didn't re emerge until it was too dark to get a pic.
  18. Think you could be right there mate Yeh, definitely house sparrow
  19. Took these a few evenings ago.The colours in the sky were amazing.
