  1. 50yrd 6oz Quick set, fibreglass poles, No basket - £65 posted, Northern Ireland
  2. I just saw a Ratting Longnet on an auction site! very fine mesh, sounds like good craic!
  3. Sounds good...I started to make it into a quick set tonight, But I might undo it, As I really want to try the traditional, I can always set it as a quick set again Hows your knife?
  4. Looked like a good day Benny, Hows the Hob getting on? He looks fit & well in your pictures anyway
  5. This is probably stupid, But I made 2 50yrd quick sets from the pinned guide, They have been working brilliant and no trouble at all, Now I decided to buy another net, And ended up with a good deal on a 100yrd Trad with end pins and poles.... It arrived yesterday and I took it out last night to set it up and get a feel for using the pins, Well, Its still in my garden, In a ball, I put the first pin in the ground, wlaked the net out a bit, Put in a pole, looped it on, But didnt have any slack, I then tried to pull slack back from the net ahead of me, But the draw cord all slid out, so
  6. Brilliant as always, very magazine looking! You should get yourself a column!
  7. Id tell him to jump, we asked a farmer last sunday afternoon if we could go in his ground yesterday, After we where finished and were packing up yesterday evening, he came over and asked us if we "Wouldnt Mind" coming back a day or two....We didnt need much convincing!
  8. Im not sure, I will have a look though!
  9. Ive heard this before, but only in fishing...Fish bite least with wind from the east...
  10. The vet would have none what this was when you SHOULD have taken him all those WEEKS ago, why do you have ferrets if you come on here weeks after your animal has got sick asking questions like that
  11. Let go the rabbit with the young in it? How will you know until you gut it....Or let the young go...because that wont work either
  12. Alright Benny, Wilma is a sister of your Hob, hows he getting on? Doing extremely well and a joy to work. I told you he was a good worker and well handled, But I knew you thought I was spinning you one when you lifted him
  13. Good day & great pictures as always...keep it up
  14. Alright Benny, Wilma is a sister of your Hob, hows he getting on?
  15. Patsy, Very big young Hob Wilma, The best worker of them all, and bred from pet stock Betty, Usually dug out, Locked on a rabbits ass Ruby, born very late last year & the runt of the litter, I had to keep her, not really caught on to ferreting yet but enjoys playing in the long net on a saturday! Little Ruby again, having a go at the Ferretone bottle!
  16. Its not so much the camera you should worry about, But the lenses...Its better to buy a cheaper DSLR and spend the extra money on good lenses, Most people tend to buy the best camera they can afford and put a coke bottle on the end, the thing is, if you stick at the photography, the camera will be out of date in a matter of less than a year, where as the lenses dont change that often or as much, its more of a system you buy into with Canon rather than just a camera, I hope you understand what I mean. When I used to do photography, to begin I bought a Canon 300D, And a cheap tamron lense, and t
  17. Id recommend these highly, 100% waterproof, But they feel like normal trousers, just like very lightweight combats, But the water just runs off, there silent when walking And even the knees hold out after kneeling down on wet or frosty ground putting in net pegs all day and there extra comfortable with an adjustable belt, side pockets, normal hand pockets and then other pockets behind with a zip so can keep your car key zipped away so you dont loose it and have to walk home! They cost 16.99 from TK Maxx, But if you cant get them there, they're £40ish anywhere else...try them out, excellent ge
  18. I would speak to Crawfords, tell him your after a Gun but you have no land owners permission and could he help you out, Id say if your taking a gun or two from him he will soon set you in the direction of a farmer or two, And as you say, once you get in with one, thats it..you'll end up with more than you need Hob coming on well, he dragged another rabbit out the day after boxing day, He seems happy enough with four jills for company! And he can eat, f*** but he can eat, Ive seen dogs eat less, He's not fat or overweight, but he enjoys his dinner! And the locator collar only goes to the fi
  19. Just go and ask him, He will probably be glad of it, thats what I done, I only moved to where Im at not long ago, Its not easy when you dont know anybody But I was f*** If I wasnt getting out, So I just asked everybody I could! When you get in with that first farmer, ask him about anybody he might know, he will maybe put you onto someone else....keep at it!
  20. Why dont you put a vermin control notice in any agricultural suppliers or Crawfords, and even ask the man in there, he's bound to know a lot of people, maybe even join the gun club and that way you will get to know people who know people, It took me ages to get onto the first bit of ground I had, It was living with rabbits and I couldnt go in!, I went down at 8.00 for 4 saturday mornings in a row and stopped tractors passing and asked them until eventually I got the owners address and then the week after I got him, He eventually let me in but with a lot of rules, but then he asked me to visit
  21. Pity you couldnt get down here...I have just got a new ground as well, goverment turf, 150 acres, and only me! I had to get insured, But ony £22 so not bad
