  1. Snap - you get back on the horse, and you get a friend to give you a leg-up If you still keep falling off you look for the reasons and if you can't find the answers, and it seems like you might fall a bit too hard and do yourself some permanent damage, then you seek the help of a professional... When you can't see the wood for the trees forget about the big picture. Just focus in on one tiny leaf and you'll find something good. Find the beauty in one small leaf and you will be able to see the whole tree, then the whole wood, and it won't look so bad. As Ric said, there is always so
  2. No 5 is simply lovely, and 6 is classic macro stuff The first 2 are a bit bright & blurry - it's incredibly difficult to handhold macros when you have such a small depth of focus, and I've found it's often better to under-expose a little. My favourite is the B&W woodland shot but I'd quite like to see a colour version too... The fly isn't blurred enough for me - can still see too much detail there!
  3. Depends... what kit are you using now? I have a canon 1.4 converter, but it only works with some lenses, and you will lose an f stop or two, so it certainly won't help the low light issue. The best thing is to get the longest, fastest lens you can afford and turn the ISO up as high as you can without losing too much quality. If the kingfishers are sitting still and you can rest the camera on something you can get away with a fairly slow shutter speed. If they are flying track the movement very smoothly and fire at will
  4. Lovely pics, & they are too cute for words pity they grow up to be so... ummm... not cute!
  5. love that moo cow Do they stay that hairy all summer, or do they moult?
  6. Super shots I think the blur on the wings adds to the pics. Some of them look a touch over-sharpened, but that might be something to do with the scrunching for web process.
  7. I like the moo cows At the Suffolk show they weren't letting anyone in to the cattle sheds unless you had a pass. Luckily I knew several of the exhibitors I hadn't been to a county show for years either, and nothing much had changed - same old faces winning the same old classes (probably with the same horses!)
  8. Dunno what it is, but nice to see pics of fish
  9. Lovely shots Paul I'm rather reluctant to let my collies loose anywhere near a white background though because it wouldn't stay white for long
  10. I like the pic of the dog on the road, that would look good in black & white What are you to do about what???
  11. Your windows must be cleaner than mine I really like the 2nd shot
  12. I like poppies too Not many round here though - the farmers are too handy with their sprayers! Nice work Hannah
  13. Excellent shots - love the last one
  14. ...the long fox like fire prowls flaming among the cockerels...

  15. Nice to see them (as long as you're not a small bird )
  16. Excellent shot I haven't seen one of these for years
  17. Great shot. Does look like it got a bit close... good job it didn't splatter you
  18. Nice shots I love the second from last.
  19. Well Muttle, you want to stop messing about with those landscapes and get some proper wildlife pics done.... Have you tried photographing hares with a 17-40??? 100% crop from a 5D... I'm a fan of the use of empty space in photography Hare
