  1. I would but i've lost my bloomin camera up there somewhere aswell, you guys must think we are like the chuckle brothers haha go up there in a wallace and gromit van with a flat coated retriever as a ferreting dog lose all our ferrets and gear but still have a good laugh, We will be out again shortly and I for one can't wait don't think Bouncer and Sally can either Any dog can be a ferreting dog if it's handy with the snout, Bouncer would probably be more use than my terrier to be honest!
  2. It will give you an idea the areas they are in, some places you can strike off the list if there's no prints anywhere. Had enough of that white stuff this year to last me a lifetime!
  3. Your due some luck lads! Now get Bouncer out again and get some action shots, and also some of Col juggling those new ferrets! Also have a sweep over the dodgy set with the mk3, see if anything picks up! There are warrens on our land that are untouchable, you'll always have a few rabbits to go at with places like that.
  4. Tidy set up that, you'll be spoiling the rascals!
  5. Also CB if you have your ferrets a little on the fat side that will take the edge off them and make them less likely to lay up.
  6. Looks bad to me to be honest, if he's an old lad then let him go. Seen it before and the vets cannot do anything to change things. Hope i'm wrong.
  7. You'd not be lucky to get ferrets like that, it's probably the easiest ferret to get hold of, one that comes away and does not stick with the job till the end. The roots on a hedgerow are a bind but not as bad as around big trees. Lessen your chances of digging by getting a couple of jills, the smaller they are, the more chance the rabbits have of getting away. If it's in range on an old 8ft finder then i would not find it a major worry if things go tits up. By the way, are the escapee's still around CB? Dig the shortest route in possible, sometimes it's easier to tunnel in sideways a
  8. If you stick on the same land Col it's funny what turns up mate. Got a massive hissing spitting albino hob out of a drop box years ago, he'd been on the run for years by the look of him. Also cornered a poley jill in a rockpile, and got her out, also been running the gauntlet for a few months by the look of things. And just this year had one of the young hobs going toe to toe with something underground, thought it was a stoat at the time, but thinking since as it did not bolt that it may be a feral ferret. They may stick around and have some fun at the rabbits expense yet, catc
  9. Think it's only a matter of time before we start seeing the fallout of dog thefts. Nothing stirs a person more outside of the family than animals being stolen. Hope you get them back mate.
  10. Sickening shame on this one. Cannot the travelling community riddle out these folk? It's going to get to a point where no traveller is tolerated, and camps allthough strong, will end up bieng targets. I'm no traveller and have no problems with travellers of any sorts, but as an outsider I can see problems growing for these lads. Sort out yer own kind lads.
  11. The animals deserve it mate, they would not give up, don't lose interest now! You have been doing all you can for the lost ones, sometimes it happens and you are doing your best to find them. Why not go back to the same ground you lost them on, they may just turn up yet. Don't give up on them, they may be eating there way out of a stopend as we speak!
  12. cheers mate, i cant realy see change with seeing them every day. they are jumping well now and was getting them used to sheep again today they are doing well. it seems harder work training two pups out of the same litter, how have you found it? If you run 2 dogs at once it will always be harder to train them, one will always push the other. Can be quite usefull getting them going though, confidence comes easier when they are side by side, and the competition makes them keener. After a while you might want to split them up and work on them on there own, one dog will start to rely o
  13. Looking at the shape, it must have been wild for a while, it looks pretty solid (not just rigormortis).
  14. Think you have to play it wise on the day. Putting lots of ferrets down will deffo get them moving, but putting capable ferrets down will end up in lots of deaths underground. Knowing the animals has to be the key, and I'd only add them one at a time as needed. Some rabbits won't respect certain ferrets, but as soon as a match is dropped in they know it and bolt or get nailed. Think of it as levels, 1,2,and 3. Work out for yourself which your ferrets are and whether whats left in is worth it.
  15. Moved on a lot now Lofti lad, they were looking a little heavy a month or two ago, but seem to have stretched out a quite a lot now. Fine looking specimens. Now don't be scaring the locals around your village!
  16. Crikey thats got me there, only one's I can think of are in the mid 30's on me todd, usually before this year been babysitting the old chap! I can vouch for a 103 bag that the old chap got, 1 dog and 2 ferrets in February. 60% machine of a dog by the way. Mainly all bolting and pick ups by the dog. One day i'll see a dog similar.
  17. Nice one Desi, hope the old one didn't fall over! Hopefully I'll get out in the next few days, but the heavy snow looks close by!
  18. Whipper you all need to put some weight on by the looks of things! Good on you for digging, and yes why leave the body behind. If you have been a part of killing it, at least do your bit and recover it!
  19. Nice one Magwitch, the conditions certainly put a dampner on things. Like the little dog though, hell freezing over won't stop him for sure. Determination is something most won't appreciate, if a dog does not have it, the dog will be average at best.
  20. Hello and welcome Chris, let us know how it goes!
  21. Well in Salmon, you'll be getting a name for yourself with bags like that!
  22. Thats how it gets sometimes, you start to question what you are doing. After a few weeks off you feel differently about it, don't sell anything, you'll wish you hadn't if you did.
  23. Nice to see some of the pack pictures, looks like they all had a good day.
  24. Like Kay says a bit of bone can get stuck in the teeth quite often, or even somewhere in the system. How old is the ferret?
  25. Sorry but i'm falling off my chair here laughing!
