  1. The little bugger Stealthy! Still looks a clean cut mate, sure he'll be ok! Just thinking? Could the lampshade be used to stop ferrets killing in!
  2. Chez you must be making too much cash on the bricks mate! You cannot leave stuff like that getting wet! Put them in the house to dry out, and as said, don't switch them on until dry!
  3. Ouch that looks a real ordeal!
  4. Shame! Some won't it's the sad fact. Natures a cruel place. Leave them alone, don't look in, and hopefully a few may be alive in the end mate. Nature knows better than us, it all goes on for a reason.
  5. old feller introduced a few placcie pegs so that he could see them last season, bright yellow! Did not like the idea to start with, but after i got rid of the traditional ideals (I like wooden pegs) they are better. Don't rot Can be seen Hold as well as any peg He was right.
  6. Simple answer mate.
  7. Nice work stealthy, you have done wonders with that hob, and looks like the dog is going to go down the same route! Thats the sort of intro lots of animals would benefit from.
  8. Trust the collie, it has more brains than the owners!
  9. Nice they all look in good order! May be worth giving her a little time out in the dark and peace for the next few weeks. (Seen a few jills chomp them up if disturbed!)
  10. They are worth splitting up as said previously as they will continue to 'nail' each other for the next few months during the mating season, resulting in messy necks and scabs. May not be fatal, but they don't need scarring up for no reason. Any hole's a goal as far as hobs are concerned!
  11. Is it not if you caught enough during the season? TC the clue is in my signiture "pest control officer", so next time we get asked to clear rabbits from the railway tracks, as the digging is causing subsidence of the embankments, I should tell my bosses, sorry its the wrong time of year, as for not being able to talk about "other people" I was referring to huntinglife members that come out with me on most trips, have never heard them complain but thats leading off the point, I was just trying to say, you'll always have those that do, and those that dont, you'll get those
  12. yes, otherwise you would have to say the same about any "pest species", should we stop killing rats/mice because they have young, do shooters stop shooting woodies, as they may have young in the nest, what about drey poking, you'll always get the for and against argument, I can understand that those that ferret only for sport, and have small areas of permission, always use the explanation, that it will spoil it for the winter months, but for those of us, that are lucky to either have larger permissions, or do it as part of our job will ferret all year if need be, the same goes for the other pe

    Kits

None from myself! = 77 Will miss not having any!
  14. Don't know how many times this has come up, but the very pemission you have is worthless if you have killed everything you are working to keep if you have killed it before its big enough to run! Rabbits are pests ok, but you're not getting paid for it! If so then cart on! Explain to the landowner that you will hit it hard when things are not in full swing breeding. Its usually down to the folks that are too lazy or scared of the weather that it does not get done in the season. If you have more than you can control in the season, then do the decent thing and let someone else do it that
  15. You need to tailor it to the ferret. In a court you have less chance of seeing to this as the dominant animal will always hogg the food. Seperate cages, and limited amounts daily work for me, and during the season as they are always on form. No fly's or maggots, and no knacker ferrets either! Courts are great if you have a few animals, but get around 10 WORKING animals, and it just does not work! They are all different, knowing your animals is the key.
  16. Sounds like you are going to have a fine litter, keep on doing what you are doing.
  17. As much as they can eat without leaving a pile to get fly blown.
  18. The runner has turned out a classic looker Malt, how's it cutting?
  19. Pile or shoite mk 3 showing 3 ft on an 18" dig and a lot more the deeper it went!
  20. Can we get a propper verification as whether a mk 3 box willl pick up mk1 collers children? I know the mk 1 box picked up mk3 collars better than the mk 3 box , allthough a little harder to work out at the time. Giving a more accurate reading as well!
  21. Folly is there a hint of Bull in the line? Not speculating, but looks a little strong in certain areas.
  22. I've seen the mk3 in action, and all the talk of creeping around setting nets quietly not making a sound is kicked in the balls by the hell- screeching sound it throws out! The mk 1 is dead and i wonder what the muppets at deben are thinking about changing a tested model, one day, the men holding the patent will see sense and allow the rebirth of something that didn't need changing!
  23. What you after small/large? poley/albino? Not breeding my own this year, and feeling like a plank for not doing it. Have 6 working hobs, and 1 old feller (old feller has spawned all i am using at present). albino's and poleys. lancs.
  24. like i said though its hard to cum across a worker that someone is willing to let go. and likes been said its good to know if there doing the job properly by checking with one. i was talking to a kid near me and he reckons chucking a live rabbit in hutch wi em will sort em out. they either kill it or get kicked to f**k. either way there gunna know wat to do next time they cum across one. ?? Good workers are not let go, you may end up lucky if someone is giving them up, getting kits from good working stock, you'll stand a good chance. Go to the lads that are in it for the long haul,
