  1. Forgot to say, but after reading this today, took a collar out in the back yard to try it. Led the collar flat and it read around 18" away from where it was at 6 ft . Stood it as it would be on a ferret, and it was spot on. Thats stuck in my head for future reference!
  2. Sounds like a good day. Is this the 3200 acres he mentioned about whether to get paid for it or not?
  3. Good bag lads Do some of those riverbank sets get deep?
  4. Tell me about it, old fellers lucky if he can carry himself, I have to carry it all!
  5. Good day , always good to see young dogs coming on!
  6. Cheers for the warning, cracking picture!
  7. Photo's of snow taken where I was stood, photo's of bag taken down where the arrow points around a mile down the hill, where we park up. Wondered how long it would be till somebody mentioned that!
  8. Oh aye? Come and say hello to me if you see me there.
  9. Well in lads! Getting his knuts zapped! Bet he didn't swear at all!
  10. No way you git's! Sands the worst stuff for falling back in when you get down! Nice work, showing that depth though I'd be reluctant to make a start for a bit!
  11. I know they are slower than a cross, but some of the working hill types are not much slower than a heavy cross. Plus they have stamina like some fellers won't believe. Speeds not everything, just part of it. They lack in certain areas, but they will still be there season after season, without the same injury's a lot of dog's will pick up. Yes Whin, they would be limited, but the limits would work for me and the rabbits i think.
  12. Good bag Salmon, I have to shout at my old feller a lot, mainly because he's deaf, but slipping the dog at a bolter takes about 5 seconds to happen! Shame about the rain, but at least you got out!
  13. They were healthy Micky lad! Bit skinny though!
  14. Well in fellas, and a superb bag at the end of it all!
  15. Right a few weeks ago I flogged the old one into walking to the top of our land, we had a good day, decent bag, but he struggled with the walking. Managed to get him up there again, but with alternative transport! Threw him on the back of the farmers quad as he was going to feed his sheep, I walked up with the dog, it was a little cold so I needed to warm up! Once there we got straight down to business, dog marking up, no nets just the handy hobs! (Only got piccies when i got home, too busy to get them during the day! Going well, not many getting out of the holes,
  16. Had it quite a lot, sometimes I can punch my way through when I see the ground moving underneath.
  17. Looks like a pile of fun and a pile of rabbits! Well in lads!
  18. Might be worth just giving the cage/court a dose of flea powder as well when you clean them out. Usually knocks mites for a six, and they don't come back the same.
  19. Aye hopefully just the start of things for you Shepp!
  20. A pure collie is a very underated dog for rabbits. The right dog can turn it's hand to anything. Know the odd farmer where we go who have had to get rid of them cause they prefer the rabbits than working the sheep. No good when they have spent 2 hrs gathering. Watched one work the hill sheep a few weeks ago, it kept up a blistering pace for over an hour, a pace fast enough to catch rabbits as well. I'm slowly beginning to think a straight collie would do the job on our pemission, they were bred for the ground, rarely get knocked up as well. You can see the thinking behind the crosses th
  21. You keep getting those 30 bags. Thats a good 30 average every time out at least. What the best bag you have had from the orchards this year mate if you don't mind me asking?
  22. 10 is not a bad bag! Been a bit of the old watery stuff down over the last day or so.
  23. Nice one Mag. looks like they can do fairish damage to those trees. Do tree guards ever get used on the older trees?
