  1. I keep 5 hobs together, they are fine but thats cos they are all castrated.
  2. They'll have some cheap sheds in b&q or wickes. Or try here cos theres a sale on. http://www.gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk/Sale
  3. Yes think it was that Sorry mate, I admit I got the wrong end of the stick Hope you find an home for the hob, I would take him but I'm in Yorkshire.
  4. Can I ask why you rehoming the hob Joe67? Not trying to be funny mate but your saying your getting rid of this hob and plan to breed more ferrets! Where all those ferrets gonna end up? Then you say that you feed your ferrets DOG food?! I know we're all still learning but dog food for ferrets. Jesus. Then you state that you'v seen two ferrets in a hutch thats soaking wet inside and ferrets living innit, but you still gonna rehome this ferret to the people who are keeping ferrets like this just because their getting a new hutch for this one! If their not bothered about the others fr
  5. Do they implant dogs and cats when theyre spayed and castrated? Dont think they do. So why implant when ferrets are spayed.
  6. Its worried me that you have messed about several times with it when you are not an experienced vet and could be doing more damage than good. I dont know what you mean by trapped, couple of my hobs sometimes have theirs out sometimes, probably when excited LOL. But realy you need to see the vet as he could be in pain when he pees the poor sod. If you cant afford the vet then hand him over to a rescue who will get them to the vet.
  7. Nice ferret, where abouts are you. I will put it under lost and found ferrets if you want incase anyone is missing it. Or you can always report it as found to the local vets.
  8. erm dont think any of us are vets, get her to the vets like now, asap.
  9. Mine have dry all the time, they still look forward to their meat on a night and theyre not fat. They get chicken wings, rabbit, pheasant, mince, liver. I feed couple of brands of dry, JWB, Vitalin, Supa ferret. Mine have big bowls of water though with dry as obviously they will drink more than a ferret fed on all meat.
  10. Got mine for £18 from someone who works as a vet nurse on another forum. The 100ml bottle is tiny though. Should last ages as I only use few sprays onto a glove. Vets used to give this out for ferrets when there was nothing else, but now theres stuff licensed for ferrets (pippetes) they have to give you them. Problem with pippetes you can use em once and you have to buy more where as the frontline spray keeps after its been opened.
  11. Ring the second vet back up and tell them you want to pick up some frontline spray for the cat/dog (best if you've got one registerd with them). They will ask how much they weigh and you should be able to pick some up.
  12. You can use it as a preventive and it kills fleas & ticks aswell. Spray some onto some plastic gloves and rub it into the ferrets fur, the ticks will drop off after couple of days. Or you can remove them and then use frontline on the ferret to kill any you've missed and a preventive.
  13. Yep, frontline spray, the spot ons are too strong for ferrets. http://www.vetuk.co.uk/pet-meds-prescription-only-frontline-spray-c-21_730/frontline-100ml-spray-p-543 Obviously you cant buy it without perscription but if you can just ring vets and ask to collect some. Say its for the cat. Theese are tick removers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TICK-TWISTER-TICK-REMOVER-PET-DOG-CAT-HUMANS-TWO-HOOKS-/260808996925?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Dogs&hash=item3cb96d783d
  14. Remove them with a tick remover and get some frontline spray from the vets and put some on a glove and rub it into his fur when you've removed them. You can get tick removers from petshop, vet, ebay will be the cheapest. Or you can jus rub frontline onto him and wait untill they drop off. Hope someone can help.
  15. Hitting any animal will just make it fear you and make it more aggressive. Use positive methods like food and talk to them quietly always seems to work. TBH sounds like theyre been rushed, 3 weeks is sometimes just not long enough for some ferrets to get used to you. I give them atleast a week to settle in before I start handling and messing about with them, I sit in with them and let the ferrets come to me. You say they are around 8 month old so they are still young, excitable and also probably very hormonal around "teenage" time. You might need ti just ignore them if they are scare
  16. I use big ceramic dog bowls for food and water, they use the bowls more as its easier for them to get more water. I use the giant 1 litre drinking bottles aswell with a coop cup underneath so they drink out of that when it drips. When I feed rabbit I tie it to the cage.
  17. Just had a look on another forum under lost and found ferrets. None lost in this area. I will put this one up as found though if you like.
  18. have them castrated/spayed and they dont smell of piss and make sure they have clean bedding and clean them out everyday! Rabbit hutch is ok aslong as theres a run or theyre going to get out everyday for a run. Hate to hear of ferrets spending all their lives in little rabbit hutchs.
  19. They are great pets aswell as workers. As for the smell have them neutered and clean them out everyday and make sure they have clean bedding & good diet and theres hardly any smell. I think after a while you get used to the slight smell anyway LOL. Mine climb round me neck and on me head when im cleaning em out. I trust them 100% if I get bit then its obviously my fault. Theres the same chance of a friendly dog biting you as a tame ferret IMO.
  20. Mine have thick layer of newspaper in their bed box's on the bottom, they have got atleast half of dozen fleece blankets from quid shop. They also have old jumpers, hammocks if they get too warm. But I like to know their not gonna freeze. When I put my hand in there on a morning they are always toasty. Probably warmer than me because their in a shed too. I just have spare bottles, and when the start to freeze I put the frozen one in the house to defrost and swap them over. Tried them bottle covers, they work for abit but its the metal spout that freezes before the bottle. I made my own,
  21. Everyday for mine. They have dry down all the time and they have raw meat everynight. Tonight they had pheasant necks.
  22. I use fleece blankets from quid shop and old jumpers
  23. You can get cat collars with clip buckles. You could just make them smaller. We just use ferretone to get collars on them, they dont even know the collars going on.
  24. Your best of taking it to the vet and see what they think. One of mine went realy skinny overnight, wouldnt eat/drink just wanted to sleep. Took her to vet and turns out she had bacterial infection. Gave me some probiotics and she was back eating/drinking in a couple of days but the vet said it wouldnt of gone away itself and she would of eventually died from dehydration. The main thing is to keep it dehydrated, syringe water, mine seemed to prefer cats milk through a syringe when she wouldnt drink. The RC convalesence is very good if the vet sells it. Ive got the sachets of powd
  25. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-De-Lux-Mini-Nail-Clippers-Dog-Cat-Ferret-/390358874502?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item5ae333b986 I use the scissor type nail clippers, i find their best ones. The other ones tend to split the nails.
