  1. If your mainly feeding dry then I think ferrets need bowls of water to get a propper drink. I have both for mine, big 1 litre rabbit bottles and big ceramic dog bowls full of water, they cant tip em. Yes they will play in them for first couple of days but then it wears off. Least then theyre getting a propper drink. I feed both dry through day and raw at night.
  2. I just put some sterilsing fluid in bottle with hot water. Leave for 20 mins and theyre good as new. Its cheap, only need a capfull.
  3. theres some nice spacious hutch's here. Supercharged, thats great did you make it yourself.
  4. Yes I have 4 castrated hobs and they work fine!
  5. Have you looked at your PM's if hes contacted you by pm before. Your very trusting mate, i wouldnt let anyone take one of my ferrets on "loan" especially if i didnt know them. Good luck on getting the ferret back.
  6. I use Zoflora to disinfect shed/run.
  7. mine are outside all year round. All have plenty of fleece blankets. Ive been out in middle of night in winter thinking they'll be freezing and when ive put my hand in their bed box's theyre warmer than me all piled up. If theyre kept outside all year round they grow big winter coats anyway. They cope with the cold much better than the heat. Heats a killer and if they not kept an eye on hutch's/sheds can turn into ovens! In summer, I put in half a dozen of 2 litre frozen bottles in their shed on days when its red hot wraped in a blanket. That keeps shed and them cool enough and they lay
  8. LOL You can have your ferrets neutered (jills spayed, hobs castrated) It wil reduce the smell greatly as it stops oil been produced by their hormones which in turn makes their coats a yellow/orange colour. By bathing them they will smell more as it strips the natural oils out of their coat which their body has to work twice as hard to reproduce them which in turn makes them smell more. Please dont bath try and bath them everyday. Their coats will be ruined and end up with a ferret with skin problems. ( Cant belive people giving that sort of advice) Even neutered ferrets, do have a
  9. She is young at 8 weeks old many dont let them go untill 10-12 weeks old. She is in a new surrounding on her own, new smells etc. Cant you get her a mate, ferrets do better with company.
  10. Dont use cotton buds, clean them up with a baby wipe but dont prod around inside her ears as their realy delicate an you could do some damage. If its ear ear infection then they will probs give antibiotics and ear drops. Ear mites will need stronghold to treat them. If you say its her cheek though have you checked her teeth aswell. Could have a bad tooth or something, is she eating and drinking ok. Realy she needs to see a vet as they will know, you probs will spend more trying different petshop things instead of just getting it sorted streight away with stronger stuff from the vets.
  11. good work, and theres some great advice on this thread aswell. You wont wont to rehome any of em after all the hard work LOL.
  12. TAKE IT TO THE VET ASAP.
  13. You can get cheap fatty mince from morrisons (frozen) for about £1.20 that will feed em up. Ive always left a bowl of biscuits down for mine. Cat milk is fine for them, you might be best off with some lactofree milk (whole version, more fat) its only about a quid if your wanting to give them milk.
  14. Make sure they have a big enough hutch/run so they can run about. More space the better.
  15. All mine ferrets ive bought for £5 - £10 and others have just been strays that nobody as claimed. At those prices its shocking! But then people complain when rescues ask for £30 -£40 donation when the ferrets been neutered and chipped etc. Its no wonder rescues are full as people will be prepared to pay that price as its a kit and named a fancy colour.
  16. Plus I dont like to see ferrets on their own, unless theres the odd one what doesnt get on with other ferrets.
  17. Im guesin they are individual hutch's. They are tiny, the ferrets look asif they can JUST about have a shit in the corner at side of their bowl. Please make them something bigger. Bloody hell.
  18. Theres plenty more people that will do that. Theres hundreds in rescues around country because everyone has that idea or so. Hobs that ive had when theyve been entire, spend half there life trying to get out of their cage, pacing up and down. Each to their own.
  19. Mine are all castrated. So much easier, they live together all year round happily. Plus mine are pets aswell so reduces smell alot!
  20. Not been funny mate its a good hutch and i can see that you mean well. It will keep em dry and warm. But do they get out of there to run about? As it lookd quite small to me. Maybe you could build them a run if not to put them in daily for a run about. Harsh telling a 12 year old that his hutch is shit. Least hes built them somwhere to live at least and theyre not living in a storage box or something being neglected. Give advice.
  21. my run one of my hutch's shed
  22. It sounds like he wants his own bed, try puttin few more places to sleep in the hutch. That way if they he can sleep on his own if he wants. How long has the hob been castrated? When I put ferrets together I cover all their necks in oilve oil, they lick each other instead of bite then lol.
