Gamekeeping assistant ?
lilvixen replied to jackdean1230's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
Thats a very bold statement saying most employers go straight to sparsholt! I wouldn't. Plenty still think experience and a personal reccomendation come before bits of paper from a college. I'm not saying some qualifications aren't important and the atv, chain saw, pest control courses etc definately help. Before signing up to a full time course I would look into getting a placement for an NVQ or at the very least spend as much spare time as you can helping a local keeper. -
bumping this thread in case anyone see's a great digital camera deal as we're another that have just killed our camera

There aren't many kennels without George's stuff in it now, still has his stamp in the breed and will be around for a long while yet. Hope you didn't think I was knocking his stuff in my previous post definately not aimed at Howlbeck. problem is his stuff is getting diluted to much show only stuff. there is a dog near to me that is double bred to piper. but he is a strong f****r Is it registered? Trying to find a half decent dog with papers is like finding rocking horse sh*t?

I also would like to add that if at any drive you feel uncomfortable taking your dog off the lead, ie tall cover such as elephant grass or such thick cover that you are unable to see your dog then there is no shame at all in putting it on the lead!! I have done myself and I have 3 FTAW in my kennels! Dont ever feel pressured from other beaters! Good luck with your training and enjoy your beating, Regards, Neil excellent advice stop whistle & recall. If not 100% sure your dog will do something right don't let him do it. Cleanspade do your dogs go back to Piper? He was a smart dog but an evil b**tard Howlbeck Blue Prince was a very Lakey type but was a waste of space working.

Not a job for the faint-hearted. -
Thanks Wilf. I hope you're not expecting the same kind of "good turn" his brother gives out

Some people will say anything to make a few quid. Looks like an ugly little thing to me! Moo if it takes after the dam you better have some good earplugs, a roof on your kennel and a lot of patience! Good luck

Did your ginger hero teach you that one?!

"I have read a good book recently. It was called "Breaking through"by Johnny Bluck. I would say that that book was a honest account of a mans life with terriers and lurchers and would inspire anyone with dogs." Threbb earlier in this thread you were giving JD pointers on grammar and writing style and then you use as an example of a good book Breaking Through! For style, grammar and gripping content I would rather read a bedtime story to my 2 year old! As for Simoman suggesting getting Frain to do some drawings there's no need. Winkhound fancies himself as a bit of an artist, i'm sure fo

??? Sorry were you asking if anybody had one? I thought you meant you know somebody with one. As I said he's got some show blood in them now but I believe he had some handy dogs.
-
It would be a Parson Russell. Do you know what the breeding of it is? He has used some non working stock recently to help in the show ring!

Good luck in finding someone but I think your chances are slim... you may have to put this one down to experience and make sure you sort a vet beforehand next time. atb lilvixen ps there's always someone who has to jump in and slag you off, it seems to be thl rule per thread...

LOL! What a balls up! T'internet's a wonderful thing for all sorts and it's anybody's choice if they want to keep visiting a website to keep up the slagging they're getting.... At the end of the day, if you don't want to cop the flak anymore, just disappear off here... no more hassle. It's also a great place for constant arguing (judge, jurors and excecutioners abound)... I can understand that you want to defend yourself but you're never gonna dig yourself out of this one now as there's been too many conflicting posts and it's gone on too long.... tell em what they want to hear or don't

The RFUK ad wasn't put on by hubbs by the look of the dates... that was made by derbylad or his mate before the sale to hubbs, so not defending him but hubbs hasn't claimed he's had him since a pup. There's some folk on this site. If the profit from the £250 is to replace a cat, then you don't deserve it as it's you/your missus's fault as someone as already said. If it's to ensure a serious home and you manage to get that for him, do the decent thing and donate the £200 to a dog's home or something. Just feel sorry for the dog, all this crap doesn't make this site look good
