  1. Vistaprint often offer free stuff, it might be worth checking them out Ive got business cards, advertisement car magnets, t shirts etc for my business off of them and they are very reasonable. Every now and then they send a email offering business cards for free.
  2. No need to get all offended, i was only having a laugh. If you take things so personal, you wont like this site much!
  3. Dont quote me on this, but i think the tube trap for the UK market isnt the same as the one used in the US. Probably a spring change or something. Import duties + shipping costs + some profit for bothering etc all adds up! If these traps are so unaffordable, why not ask "logun" to make you some for £2.99 each inc P+P el john with cost of steel at the mo the cost gone up to £3 now mate.but yes thats all it costs to make them and as good as ,if not better something that makes me smile though is that some dont like the fact that i can make the same type producy for peanuts.

  5. The only person in the position to offer any real discounts is the importer! Trap importers
  6. There is an alternative to buying a nuc if money is tight! You can get a swarm from someone who collects such things. Depending on the size of the swarm, (primary or cast) it could take a bit longer for them to build up, so dont expect any honey in the first year. I personaly think that for beginers a medium cast swarm is ideal to start off with, as there are less bees to become overwhelmed with. Its a nice introduction and you grow your experience as the colony grows. That is of course if they are nice bees a not something resemebling a scene from a Steven King novel!
  7. and restarting internet explorer..    Oh you crack me up Ian, always the joker!!!

  10. I never asked anything of the sort, i suggest you READ what i wrote. I just said i dont know what to make of photos like that! I didnt even say that i am against or for. I said it reminds me of the photo of corpses from the concentration camps, thats all!
  11. Not quite sure what to make of photos like that, all those corpses remind me of the nazi extermination camps!
  12. I have a theory, the reason why your traps are plugged full of soil is because your not setting the trap correctly AND your crap at mole catching
  13. You dont want to piss about with those warre hives, its all natural comb, no frames to pop in a extractor... I know it's not geared towards commercial production. I just liked the notion of healthy bees, given how their numbers are dwindling these days, y'know ? I know what you mean, but i wouldnt take too much notice of everything you hear. We aint trucking our bees 4000 miles each month like the yanks do. I do think that pesticides are a lot of the problem rather than the hives they are kept in. If you keep bees in warre hive and they get sprayed, they will die exactly the sa

  15. I am saying that if i were you, i wouldnt build bee hives! I would reccomend to anyone to start thier own business if they want too, i wouldnt work for anyone else but myself. Its great!!!
  16. The trouble is, there are already quite a few established hive makers out there, some are just one man bands making them in thier garden sheds or whatever, but they have already got the reputation. Others are big companies that employ workers to knock these things out by the thousands. Google "thornes beekeeping" When a newbie comes along wanting to spend thier money, they go on the bee forums and ask "wheres the best place to buy"? similar to on here "wheres the best place to buy mole traps"? Go look in the pest control part of this forum and you will see what i am getting at. If you
  17. bee-hives;- had a guy travel 3hrs to buy 3 off me secondhand Too many people at it, i looked at this last year!!!
  18. There is a program on bbc4 this evening at nine called "who killed the honey bees" Might be an interesting watch.
  19. The old sparrowhawk traps were bit different from that but worked in a similar way. What todays larson traps are based on. Pity, i had a couple of old sparrowhawk traps but i trashed them as they were a bit rotten, wished i had kept the buggers now. Top opening lid but with a bottom compartment to keep some song birds in as live bait. Obviously when the hawk went in, he couldnt get to the bait, but i suspect that the bait had a short shelf life due to heart failure. The trap was rectangular in shape and bit higher than a larson trap.
