  1. mush you are talking bollox and anybody that has been in the game a while will realise that what i am saying makes sense ........
  2. Did i say i know much about them socks? No. I know that salukis are one of the most untrainable sighthounds, but one of the most beautiful. what are you on about i never asked you that question ... have a read again and you will see it was MUSH not me ..........
  3. ah i now see what you are talking about and why the pup won .... she was obviously being out paced by the adult dogs who were gaining on the lure ahead of the pup as they were reaching the lure it was taking a %90 degree bend (something rabbits cant do) which was throwing the adult dogs off and they were missing the scoring gates .... the pup being a lot slower and just following behind was making the gates thus scoring points .... i have no doubt aswell that the older more experienced dogs sussed the movement of this lure and started straight lining to cut out the corners (as they would with
  4. must be an echo in here i am sure somebody has allready said that
  5. fair enough keep dodging the question by asking questions .... i realy dont care i only wanted the youngsters on this board to realise that its not an everyday thing to enter 5 month old pups in a coursing comp ..........
  6. stamina and a different way of pursuing its quarry ......... MARK not once have i said i dont believe you and i have said well done to your win but it isnt for me .... you stated it was the training you have put in that enabled the dog to win .... i merely asked what was this training you could have given such a young dog to enable it to win .... a question you still realy havnt answered
  7. you have stated that obsrvation and training was the reason the pup won ... i have asked a reasonable question ... are you going to answer ???
  8. observation ??? and what training do you reckon helps a 5 month old pup win a coursing comp
  9. i have seen a borzoi and a borzoi lurcher work and they were botch crap .... them dogs in the pics in the field look to have saluki and greyhound in their make to me .........
  10. well said mate .... thats what i have been trying to put accross ..... MARK i wish you all the best with them young dogs and i honestly hope they make the grade as its dissapointing to see ANY young dog fail ............
  11. i know you dont know me from adam but if being around lurchers for 40 years isnt experienced i dont know what isnt i wasnt talking about your experience i was talking about youngsters getting into the game thinking their pups can achieve wins in coursing comps ...... however even after your 40 yeras i had to educate you about merle breeding on the other site if you remember .... as for the greyhound turning and stopping debate .... have you ever owned racing greys mate .... cos mine get rabbits when needed to sharpen them up and believe me if the rabbit gets one turn in its very lucky
  12. well i suppose skin and bone can be called a critisicm i suppose ... what you have to remember is that people have different veiws and if they are not yours doesnt mean they are cyber hunters or book readers ... what you must also remember is taht there are a lot of newbies and youngsters that come on here that will think its great and fine to enter a pup into all sorts of racing and coursing events and one of three things will happen .... 1 it will do ok and the owner will be reasonably pleased 2 it will do what most pups of that age will do and be mediocre at best ... the lad will thin
  13. out of curiosity mark who has critasised you as i cant se anybody doing any critisising ........
  14. traa mate keep safe and see you in the winter .........
  15. as with everything mike it depends on the dog ... i would put money up against my young dog beating any whippet over any distance as his early pace is explosive .... but the older dog would need 25 to 30 yds to win .... if a big dog is trained correctly ... IE given sprint training a couple of times a week his early burst should be as good as any smaller dogs ..... i do agree though mike that in generall a smaller dog will have the slitght advantage over most larger dogs in the initial burst stakes .........
  16. got to disagree there with you mike as just because the dogs are tall it doesnt mean their initial burst is slow .........
  17. as for the big dogs initial speed i have two racing greys as most people know one 29 and one 29 1/2 " and over a 110 yds they have clocked 5.90 seconds and 6 seconds flat .... i would love to see a rabbit outrun them fuckers
  18. the bitch in the first pic was 29 inches and the dog in the second pic was 31 inches .... both caught rabbits easily .... the advantage a smaller dog would have over a large dog would be the turn ... but again thats not allways the case as i have seen big dogs turn on a sixpence ...........
  19. if TURK and MILLET can pick it up any dumb arse can do it
  20. mark i never criticised you .... just said i would never do it with a pup of taht age for a whole host of reasons ... if thats what gets you going then crack on its not for me ............
  21. socks

its all about strict correct form if you do this you are not applying incorrect preasure to the joints and you will be fine ....... glad the routine worked for you .... that will be £250
  22. as i have said on the other site i feel a a 5 month old pup should never be entered into a event such as this and i personally would never do it ........
  23. tell (the old lurcherman ) to take up golf and get the f**k out of dogs ..........
  24. another good remedie is stockholms tar ... originally used for horses but good on the dogs aswell .........
  25. cobwebs are a natural coagulant ... but you would need a ton to stop even a small cut from bleeding .......
