if you havnt got an older dog to bring the youngster on then you will have to become the teacher ... to do this you need to have load of patience and gear your training towards the youngsters temperament ... firstly i allow the young aprentice to explore all he wants giving him plenty confidence and allowing him to fill his brain with loads of new scents and sights ....... dont rush them allow them to be pups and feed them well and work on their obedience ... there is nothing worse than a bushing dog taht is working cover 50 meters infront of you and you cant call him back .......

that is true chilli if you lift a dogs scruff and leave it go and it stays stood up that is a good indication of dehydration ..... but the symptoms mentioned are not dehydration .............

have her checked for lung worm ... the cure is anti biotics and a weeks course of panacure ....... however if you can hear gurgeling and she is short of breath then that sounds like a damaged lung taking on fluid ... however you look at it it is definately a vet job mate ..............

i have been speaking to a few good lads about this recently and i have come to the conclusion that a dog left untill adulthood will be a better prospect in the long run ... yes we have all had game pups taht have wanted to enter and have faired ok ... but what we have to remember is that they are PUPS and allthough they want to enter and they look physicaly capable they wont be mentally capable .... i honestly believe taht leaving a dog untill its 18 months to two years of age before entering will give you a much better worker in the years to come .......................

i started hunting with the humble rabbit and rat but i have shot dogged and dug probably all the animals there is to on this island and when i get old and creaky and can just about a walk out in the fields with the dog i will no doubt end my hunting life on the rabbit and rat ...... so why is it that people think that the bigger animal you shoot hunt with a dog or dig to makes you a better hunter ??? the times i have heard so called hunting men put down lads that only go ferreting or lamp only rabbits is amazing ...... phrases like ... that dog is only any good for the bunnies h
