ok mate,but i wouldnt buy a lurcher pup if i didnt know what the parents where like and knew exactly what they could and couldnt do, That because I have been keeping lurchers nearly twice as long as you have been alive and the brains of the dog all comes under the title "working ability" and the sire and dam have more than proved themselves as workers ..............

I have no idea how clever her sire and dam are ... They are good workers ..... She is a collie grey saluki bull .......

Yes and no she is very advanced in some things then still very puppyish in other ways ... She is a very inquisitive pup and I think that's why she works things out such as opening doors ... It only took her two sessions ferreting to realise if she can follow the ferrets then she will have a better chance of maybe getting a rabbit .........

Most of us on here I am sure will have seen the lurcher in battersy dogs home opening the cages of the other dogs ... Well I think I may have a dog out of its lines .... I have a wrought iron round handle type latch on the gate to my dog area and within a month the pup had learned to flip up the handle with her nose catch it in her mouth turn it and open the gate ... No problem I put a bolt on the outside problem solved ..... I was away in Wales on Sunday morning when i Get a frantic phone call off my missus asking how many ferrets should I have ??? ... I am in the middle of upgrading my ferre

sorry about the fish lad had 2 goldfish when I was younger live for about 10 years best of it was they were from the shows I got one here that came from a fair and its 6 years old ..........

It's probably either a thorn that's gone in and out and is a bit painful or its a thorn that has gone right in and you can't see it ... It will work its way out ... I would do a quick check on her toes to make sure she hasn't knocked one .........

Pads look fine mate they are supposed to be hard and dry .... Look I between the pads to see if there is a thorn there ........

Another good use is where there are a lot of nettles or brambles .... Instead of getting stung or making loads of noise clearing the bramble you just push the bolt trap through them into the rabbit hole .......

Very useful tools at this time of the year when the young rabbits are getting through the meshes in your nets ...and as has been said very useful on roads ... I had a job clearing a stretch of the M25 and the bolt traps came in mighty handy ... Also real good if you are working a hedgerow on your own as you can cover the holes on the opposite side with bolt traps as you watch the nets on your side ..........

Pup Drooling When In Car, Any Cures ?

My youngster is the same ... It's a mental thing with mine as she starts drooling as soon as she gets in the truck ... Not moving engine off ... And she won't go near the truck on her own accord ... I am slowly but surely getting her accustomed to it day by day but it does take time ........ -
I worked in the Gleision colliery ( where the lads got killed in 2011 ) and yes although it was a shit hole I was earning a wage .... the local community was getting good sensibly priced coal delivered and tipped into their bunkers ... A bonus if you are an oap .... Shops were still open pubs were full and it was a generally happy place to .... It all changed with maggies intervention ............

I have no problem with any country eating whatever sustainable meat they want BUT keep it treat it and kill it humanely especially when the animal has a high intelligence such as a dog ... primate etc ............

AMEN fella well said ... It was exactly the same in the Swansea and Neath valleys where I was brought up ... The river tawe is one of the most prolific salmon rivers in Britain and the spring run is amazing ... If the rivers were that badly polluted then that would not happen ... My village and the surrounding ones lost everything ... Banks butchers corner shops barbers etc etc all closed and the villages are still like ghost towns ........
