I've heard of a lot of different ways to wean pups ... Start them on a cereal like weetabix ... Porridge etc make a meaty broth up so they can lap ... Hand feed one pup at a time a little bit of meat so they get the taste .... Cook it Incase of bugs ... The list is endless .... I see where you are coming from Socks,the trouble is that the average bushing jukel will cover numerous ground scenarios in the practice of a days ratching about,a useful busher will work them all,be that Spaniel,terrier,Beagle or any combo of each.At the end of the day its about individual preference which is often dictated by our first bushing experiences.I prefer terriers because they should be able to graft above and below with the same commitment,others don,t want the trouble of an entered terrier and have a kennel to suit. After seeing the advert for one of these and seeing it was only a tenner I took a punt and bought one ... It came yesterday and I am very pleased with it ... Locator fits in easily it's made of a nice soft leather will go on my belt and will definitely stop me losing my locator by putting it down and walking away lol ... A tenner very well spent .....

I've kept terriers and spaniels for bushing and as with everything in the dog world it's horses for courses ... If you had the best bushing terrier and spaniel in the world pitted against each other the terrain and cover would decide the winner ... If you had an acre of scrub bramble sedge grass and water the spaniel will be victorious ... If you had an acre of hawthorn gauze bushes and tight hedges then the Terrier will be the winner ... Terrain and type of cover will always be the great leveller ... keep the dog that suites the ground you work and you will always be the winner .........

Shit food will produce shit ... Shit ... Add raw bone to the dogs diet it will help bind him up ... Another problem you will encounter soon is the dog dragging its arse across the floor a sig of full anal glands which happen when a dog continuously has loose shit .......

It's a fairly large shoot mate so you need to know what your doing ... I don't think they hatch I think they buy poults in ....and it's only pheasant ...........

The only problem with that is that they will be going into cover that holds no game and if that system is kept on the dog spends half the day bushing areas where there is no game ... Wasting energy and time .......

Why would you want to break your dogs from killing one of the most destructive evasive species on earth??? More animal species have been driven to extinction by house cats than by any other non human species in the world!!! Maybe because it could be some little kids pet or some elderly persons only companion ....... Well if they are foolish enough to just turn them loose to terrorize the neighborhood then they diverse to lose their cat. I don't let my mink run around killing my neighbor's chickens, neither will I allow my dog to run unsupervised where he might kill a farmer's sheep. I would -

I was involved in the start with the other club but through work commitments and my wife needing 5 operations this year I just didn't have time to give to another project so I pulled out fairly early and have no idea what's happening with that. I cant see how a lurcher club can be detrimental to us in the lurcher world and I think that personnel grievances should be put aside for the greater good which is to promote lurcher work in a positive manner which in turn may help to overturn the hunting act should we ever have that chance. as an example I recently went to have a look at a rabbit contr -
