He got it on a rimfire. Why then do manufacturers give you cleaning and dismantling instructions, and even those like the bruger and thomet top end ones that don't dismantle come with cleaning instructions. Just seems a little strange not to clean them and what can the benefits be of not cleaning them. Scirrocco bit got me, thinking Theoban. But a stand by what I said, they are quieter when mucky, but, yes they want a clean eventually. Petrol is a no no. Pressure washer for mine, then a compressed air drying

What's The Best Rimfire For Rabbits And F0Xs
cyclonebri1 replied to d.nelson's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
You don't need a centrefire to shoot a fox on the end of your barrel, (even though some here don't feel capable), after all they are only about the same size as a medium size dog, and if you can't stop that with a 30g V-Max at 322 ft lb then you need to take up knitting not buy a centrefire! You will be in CF territory if you want long foxes, as per my post at #2. Commonly the .222, .223 and 22-250 are quoted, the .243 with a light V-Max eclipses all of them though. Scope and mod will be down to the rifle/calibre you buy and your finances and personal preferences! So what'er you s -

Need 20X Power Scope For .223 Max £200 Help Please
cyclonebri1 replied to GEOFF.223's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I'd maybe look out for something a little older and more towards the quality end. It' amazing the scopes that crop up that have never been fitted to a gun. I'm thing Bushnel or Simmons rather than loopys or Schmits etc. Couple of months ago I found an unused Jap Tasco world class 6-24 x 50 if I recall, sat in a cabinet for 20 years, mine for a lot less than you have. That's now on my .223. Over magnification?, possibly but I too want it for some range shooting on top of other stuff. -
Swap brand new unfired winchester sxp still boxed
cyclonebri1 replied to vermin shooter's topic in Gun's and Rifle's
I got 1, it's a dream to shoot, especially compared to a mossberg. Not a word to be said against the gun in any review I read. Super light and bugger all recoil, by it. -
What's The Best Rimfire For Rabbits And F0Xs
cyclonebri1 replied to d.nelson's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Don't worry, you will end up with both anyway, trust me :victory: Our area specifies fox against rimfires so it's fine. You want a .22 for the bunnies, it's the best and hardest worked tool in the box and I don't think anyone here will tell you different. Get within yrds, which is usually easy and it's the tool for the job. When you want a bit more of a challenge and shooting big numbers of rabbits isn't the aim, then I say is the time for an HMR or similar, great for long range rabbits and fantastic for crows. I'd suggest as many others that you don't deliberately go out for fo -
Derbyshire Police Feo Email Address Pls
cyclonebri1 replied to TWOTWOTHREE's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Over the last 30 years I have had the following issues with them; Firearms renewal returned with no ammo allowance. Shotgun cert renewed and all 3 guns "vanished" from the ticket. And after 15 years, they lost all trace of me ever having held a gun licence, due evidentally to them installing a new system. Only thing I can say is the grants and renewals etc have always been handled quickly, last 1 was late last year, late in the year that is. -
Any Good Shooting In The Snow
cyclonebri1 replied to ticklemouse89's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
That's the great thing about fresh snow, you find stuff you didn't even know was about, but I agree about footfalls, it's not so much crunching, it's the "thump" you get when snow finally gives under full body weight. I have a bigger issue with this than most. Woodland camo doesn't cut it in the snow I'm afraid, but after rolling down a snow covered bank the other day I think I have the answer I've tried pigeon shooting a few times this last week, they are gone from me at the moment, too much deep snow. -
Ase Utre Jet-Z Cqb In .223 Any Good?
cyclonebri1 replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I had a shoot with a lad the other day, both .223 but diferent guns, he had an ASE and mines a wildcat, different threads so couldn't swap. Anyway I havent got the sharpest hearing, but I could just tell a difference in sound between the 2, the ASE being the quieter of the 2 if quieter is the correct word, more "different" -
223 Or 22-250 For Foxing?

The sort of reasoned feedback I expected :victory: , trying to dispell myths is sometimes a little difficult. Where's the arse emoticon gone, you ought to be removed from life for being illegitimatly irresponsible, bob you are a pratt, recover. -

Definition Of Shotgun Types
cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
:victory: Nice one, I'm a philestine and can shoot badly with any gun, the lables don't bother me. The only thing in the replies that did suprise me was the auto/no auto safety aspect. A safety catch is there for a purpose, if the bloke behind the gun isn't coherent enough to figure to switch it out, then he shouldn't be behind the gun. (ex safety officer speaking by the way) -
Definition Of Shotgun Types
cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yep, I like a longish gun but when I got a winchester pump last year they had both 28 and 26" barrel versions in stock, I went with the 26" it felt much more swingable and to be honest the 28 was too long for hide shooting. My O/U is classed as a trap gun but it only gets used for wing shooting, pigeons and crows, they can't tell it's not a game gun, Anyway thanks for the background stuff chaps, most welcome. -
223 Or 22-250 For Foxing?
cyclonebri1 replied to Hunter123456's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Congratulations ! You are leading in the 2013 facts i should not of posted , I have just sold my .22/250 as my .17fireball is now my preference, as it is faster than a .22/250 that must mean the barrels only last 6 months ? Don't you guys understand QUESTION MARKS, ? I was asking in a manner if the barrel burn out thing was true or not, not stating it was, take the time to read before your neck pokes out. to you too, :whistling: -
Definition Of Shotgun Types
cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Hi, thanks for that, but, Can you add into the perspective my pre dispersitions to this. A trap gun is heavy, has a double bead sight and a high comb, just how I have come to view them on/off the shelf. I'm told a modern sporter or game gun will have auto safety? What length barrel would you expect a semi or pump game gun to have?, seen few 30" versions Can you explain the typical trap forend against the turned down shnarbel (sp) returned wood on the typical sporter?? Again thanks for the info -
223 Or 22-250 For Foxing?
cyclonebri1 replied to Hunter123456's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I had a REM vssf with duel trigger shot it nearly every night for three years would put bullet on bullet at 200 yards and I scoped it when I come to sell it and wear was at a minimum........you don't have to be running flat out hot loads through a 22.250 So are you saying factory ammo through a 22-250 does not burn out a barrel quicker than the same through a 223??, big question, and simply for the benefit of the OP, and me. Myths prevail remember/ -
223 Or 22-250 For Foxing?
cyclonebri1 replied to Hunter123456's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
By reputation the 22-250 burns out barrels very quickly as the muzzle velocity is very high for a smal claibre. As I say, it's just from reading the subject not my view. :hmm: -
Inspiute of being a keen shot for over 40 years I was trying to help a youngun the other day and he had me stumped. I don't often do clays, and if I do it's just with my normal rough shooting gun. So, he gets side by side, O/U, semi auto's and pumps, even bolts action. He gets calibres, but, I couldn't fully define the difference between lets say. a game gun, a sporter, a trap gun and a skeet gun. Anyone post a link to an article that coveres lese more subtle forms of 12g????

Derbyshire Police Feo Email Address Pls
cyclonebri1 replied to TWOTWOTHREE's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
"She", is very akward to deal with, I resorted to handing my forms in by hand, and even then "she" would not give me any form of receipt or aknowledgement that they had received them. Only my desire to get things through prevented me blowing a fuse. Don't expect any form of acknowledgement from Derbs Police. Inspite of that negativety, my derby area FA and Sg crts were back in just under a month inspite of the 8-12 weeks warning, that was late last yer -
I had a 3 gun cabinet, fine for a while. Needed more space, so added a 2nd, a 2/3 gun cabinet. This week both went, and I now have a 7/9 gun cabinet, it's a common theme. Look, the most important issue here has been missed in my opinion. Let me tell me experience. My 1st shotgun, 40 years back was a Baikal, same as many others, I would never here a word said against them. But I was lucky, went to the local gunshop and virtually asked for the cheapest gun in the shop. That gun served me for a few years and was passed on to another then another "new" shooter. But, and t

223 Or 22-250 For Foxing?
cyclonebri1 replied to Hunter123456's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Opinion seems to be that the 22-250 is superb, but you will need a replacement barrel every year?? Not exp, just when I researched the same issue. My advice, .223 and a session on the range to draw a trajectory graph for the gun/ammo. -
I wouldn't have any issue with that if it was simply for co-habiting parners, any wider that that and it spells trouble. I think we all have to realise that having guns in the home is a responsibility that requires great care, and however some folks would view it, it does place a certain degree of worry and responsibility on a partner.
