I did come contact with the old guy a few years ago before he died. Great old salt, just remember him saying; "They say we can only shoot 5/10, he hehe, but they don't know how many I do shoot" nodnod winkwink sort of fashion. It is a big area, 4 big lakes and a small one plus a section of river which might just be the favourite option thinking about it, seldom night fished, loads of trees for roosting. Whenever I've been out early and no one is about the trees are full of them. No chance of me getting rafted, the club wouldnt accept it plus the waters are up to 25ft deep, .

As above. I know these are protected however one of the angling clubs I'm in has a concession to cull 5 or 10 per year from it's complex. I'm not sure yet I haven't seen the paperwork. The old lad that used to knock 'em off has gone and I've been asked if I want to have a go. I just wonder if anyone has dealt with this before? I know from time spent on the banks that it is rare for one of these to come withing a 100 yds of the banks, they seem to have learned to associate anglers bivvies with danger. I also realise to to the presence of anglers 24/7 shooting at range with even the HMR

Rabbit shooting in Scotland
cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Might head back up there for a go then, did ring on of the farms we B&B'd at, they said there will still plenty around. Mooching around down here I may get 1, 2, or 3 a session, 100 an hour was possible up your way -
Hi Guys. 10 years back I used to travel up from the midlands to the border counties 2 or 3 times a year, Dunfies/Galloway. Simply for the fresh air and rabbit shooting. Had a long, long layoff due to a serious accident,, but back now. (But an old git now) What's the situation up there?, better or worse, depending on which way you look at it. We simply did B&B on farms that allowed shooting, and there were plenty. Any advice.

Subsonic .22 and jumping rabbits
cyclonebri1 replied to subwoofer's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I think you have it right. IMHO head shot rabbits kick/flick and turn, heart shot ones are dead before you drop the scope. ??????????????? -
If this is the CCI Stinger, I think everyone hase tried them once, thats the polite answer, wildly innacurate is a fair description.

My very first shotgun was a Baikal U/O wooden stock which I purchased second hand over twenty years ago. I still have the gun and have shot god knows how many thousands of rounds, tens of thousands would be more like it. The gun will out last me for sure. John Me too. bought 2nd hand about 1990. Only sold has had more money then sense The only fault I've ever seen with these guns is that when a bit aged they can fire both barrels on the 1st shot, and thats not allways a bad thing Also nothing but nothing wrong with beech. Harder tighter grained that most hardwoods,

Absolutely YES, the police do not seem to want qualifications any longer, just "citizens of good charachter", you seem to fit the bill,

Ruger 204 vt or howa 1500 varminter.
cyclonebri1 replied to higgsy's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
On paper the Ruger has few faults, I would love one, but only if I had an alternative gun. Check out some of the yank utube web footage, looks fine. Can't see from the info why a bigger calibre would be needed for fox?? Not advise guys just thye binference picked up from the net. ?????????Mr Logic, now I recall may have a different view???, would be interested to here it in the context of this thread -
Help with low impaqct 12 guage
cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Cheers fella, It is a difficult one for me, Without offence to anyone, have never shot a 20g or a semi 12g. .410 did seem like a toy, I know it's not, but we used to shoot at each other with a No3 gun which seemed similar. Can I ask just how much less recoil is produced by a semi 12g compared to an ov/un?? Several old lads used to shoot them at my former clay club so must be a good advantage???? ? -
Help with low impaqct 12 guage
cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks to all, It's over a year now since I took up the rimfires again, I felt any 12g would give me trouble so only renewed my FAC. I must be missing at least 90 of shooting oportunities by being limited to the .17 and .22. No pigeons magpies or even squirel. So I am going to try something. A couple of the best farms do have good shooting but you know the issue, neighbours that are anti, yet I can sit out there of an evening with the .22 and they don't even realise I'm there, hence the desire to try something quieter. I'll get the cert redone, What's the legal position re borowin -

Understand your point mate . But this is about shooting near the farms as i can no longer get father afield, OK?. Don't want to annoy the good chaps that let me shoot by waking them up at 6 am on a sunday, sure you know where I'm at? Also need to reduce the recoil as far as poss hence pump action/semi silenced -

cyclonebri1 replied to cyclonebri1's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Allowance at shoots is not an issue, I just rough shoot now, still got a few goo farmer mates, thanks for the advice And again mate reading your post again does anyone offer a silenced semi auto?? -
Hi guys, advise from far and wide please. I have shot and fished for all my life, now retired in late 50's after an accident thet ended my career. So got back into shooting with the rimfires, never ever had the need for a centrefire even for the macho issue, sorry. But i have a FAC but didn't bother with the SC. I assummed the 12g would be an issue for me, damaged back and neck. However, i now get may be a couple of weeks decent shooting of rabbits per year but miss 90% at least, of shooting opportunities due to no having a shotgun. So I want to take up a shotgun again, I

Much more important to clean the crud out of the moderator every 55 shots or so Edited to add every 500 shots

Never cleaned my 1st Ruger in 3K rounds, still shot perfectly and only cleaned to sell
-
Most police areas would now sooner give you a ticket for a .17 rather than a .22 rimfire, you've got the hard bit get in there ,explain the issue and it should not take long But just one question?, why did you not explain to the club what you would be shooting?, or alternatively on what basis was your ticket issued???

Don't think I'd favour washing any part of the action or mag with soapy water -
But some have, thats the difference. Right or wrong I think the answer to my question was NO I suspect you are probably right, if anyone had been hauled up for it there would have been some sort of a test case..guilty or innocent, in which case a precident would have been set and the vermin/fox issue settled!! Agreed, and I can asure you I don't want to be the test case Just trying to put things into perspective. It's the occaisional or more correctly "oportunist" shooter that has this issue. The guy that maybe shoots just 1 or 2 a year, (I'm in this category)

Ok, I'll post it again, has anyone ever been done/castigated or whatever for shooting a fox not on ticket. Don't take this as an asumption that you can, but has anyone ever been turned over this?? If the answer is yes it will be a 1st
