  1. thanks for the replys everyone, apologies bunnybasher, i did see the spelling in the quote but figured the whinions would'nt notice! He has polluted the lurcher section with his crap and i was furious at it creeping into the ferret section, cookiemonster, don't really know her age as she was a stray but i dont think she is very old. I still tend to think it was an injury sustained ferreting, she is small but very determined so i wonder if a rabbit kick did it? She is coming on daily and i have ordered some ofthe stuff barry lurcher mentioned, cant do any harm.
  2. she was never a pet, was one of the best workers i have owned,so your advice doesnt apply. Then again you quote the ''great whin'' so that tells me all i need to know.
  3. just an update, she is recovering, albeit slowly, but she has use of her back legs again, not perfect but getting there. I kept her away from the other ferrets and have been bringing her in at night. I have to admit that i was not hopeful at the start but have been pleasantly surprised by her progress.
  4. ive always had a vasectomised hob and never had a problem although i do know someone who had his done and had the problem you mention, the vet repeated the op and it was fine from then on.
  5. who would sell a copy of a sold out limited edition foir half of what it cost?
  6. thanks for replies, vet choice is limited here but i am going to see at least a different vet .Barry, the products you mentioned, where did you get them from?
  7. one of my bitch ferrets has hurt her back quite badly, not sure how. I was working her last sunday and she seemed fine, but i noticed she was'nt right on wednesday. I took her to the vets and he insisted that it was kidney failure, pts the only option. After arguing with him that i did;nt think it was he was pokin around her back and she went mental, thus bad back. She has limited use of her back end, but is not right. He suggested keeping her confined on her own, which i have done. Has anyone had anything similair and what was the outcome? She is eating ok and seems bright enough, she was a
  8. nothing hurts like losing your first one, mine was over thirty years ago and i still remember that night,You did the right thing getting a pup though and better a shorter life lived happily than the existence some dogs get. When i think of the dogs i lost before there time, i think that they never had to get old and weaken ,hopefully they're running free somewhere else.
  9. I wish i had more photos of good friends and good dogs from past times, particularly as my memory is shocking.
  10. on the daily record site is a guy who battered his dog with a hammer and through it, still alive, into a bin wher it died . It had shit on the floor. he only got a five year ban. Is,nt our legal system great? As soon as hunting of any kind is involved, look out.
  11. i went to court years ago for a similair thing, witness was a vet who lied but her friend told the truth and the outcome was basically that it is accepted that a dog will kill a cat, you must, however, not encourage it to do so.
  12. I have a greyhound bitch which lived wild for 6 months as a pup, she is getting on now . She was in fife and they had to trap her in the end. She is still not the best around some people .
  13. my dogs only bother my speyed bitches if they have blood on them, never otherwise. None of my bitches have put any weight on and it never affected their working either.
  14. still plenty off berwick, everything else scarce though
  15. ricky organises a lot of deer shooting around that and other areas, not keen on lurchers. Prefers bullying small people and women, arsehole. Saluqui, you must have been there under fosdyck were you? The policemans son who was on there goes fishing with one of my angling clubs and i still get ferreting off of little stevie where he is now, a gentleman. The sierra ended up impounded and crushed for being unroadworthy and full of red diesel. I recall the big rabbit shooting competitions on ford and etal, bags into the hundreds.
  16. the guy youre on about ftm ran allover this area, ricky was shit scared of him.
  17. front of our local paper covered in pictures of 3 roe and 7 hares that our local police recovered near an abandoned 4x4 after a call out to lampers just south of berwick. Raided a house in south shields the next day, took dog and other stuff. Article full of the ususal rubbish, deer stay frozen to the spot in lamp, barbaric, legs amputated etc etc, so tread carefully in north northumberland .
  18. why the f**k does anyone feel the need to tell people they,re going out tonight, were out or what they did?
  19. were at berwick and they are thinning out
  20. its the bull attitude that i love, give their all time and time again. Its do or die with mine, admittedly its nearly been die more than once! I remember carrying her on my shoulders after a near fatal collision with a tin sheet, blood drenching over me,and she was scanning the field for her next run.
  21. doubt it, i bought a coat off him, spot on
  22. bear in mind that it will wreck anything it can get near, may bite, hard, make an unholy mess and may just take an instant, lifelong dislike to you. Probably why the average grey has nine homes in its life so they are not to be taken lightly.
  23. Guess not too many are surprised? Our resident travellers have come close to this for years, anyone unfortunate enough to fall into there clutches has been used as slave labour, they made one guy sleep in a horse box while pocketing all his benefits.
  24. I own and skipper a fishing boat, has its moments and we do ok despite the eec and government and mca and every other desk jockey trying to stop us.
  25. i,ve got one, bought it off someone on here, new with tags.I f****d both the front pockets by shoving purse nets in them and they have both had to besewn back on, not what i expected for that sort of price. It is very warm though
