TX200 is the better rifle, IMHO. Stick them both in your shoulder and decide whether the weight is a problem. Scoped up and with a lamp, and battery, they won't be light.

The CA are a joke. They spunk your donations on champagne at the game fairs. The hunting ban will not be repealed no matter what these guys tell you. There finger is as far away from the pulse as you can get. The Hunting Life has more upto date information, a bigger network, and thousands of volunteers updating the forum, every minute, of every day. And it's free to use. Save your money. Save the phone call. Pass this link on to anyone passionate about hunting. Just don't be a cock when you post.

Don't hold your breath Donks. Read 'Ag Merchant.'

Yep they're perfectly fine... good job there!

Gas rams are like Marmite. You'll either love it or hate it. Personally I didn't get on with it and I wouldn't buy/fit another. The recoil was too sharp for me. Nothing wrong with the build quality but it's marketed as being hassle free as springs lose power from day one. Yep springs do lose power but having one replaced is hardly a wallet busting event and I have yet to meet someone that's worn one out from weekly shooting. DonnyC is the man to ask. It'll be an inexpensive tune for your gun but you'll only be able to decide whether it was the right choice after you've fitted one.

Everyone is pre-occupied with long shots... 50yards+ with a sub 12ft/lbs rifle but what's the closest you've been able to get to your game? What's your fieldcraft like? The reason I ask is that I know a guy that hunts with Weihrauch HW45. Yes. A 6ft/lbs pistol in .22. Mocked by many 'hunters' for not having the latest gear, heckled for not using Realtree. He'll sit in fields for hours stalking his bunnies, using the available cover and his home made camo. He can get as close as 20 feet to his quarry, although he's claimed closer. I know this because I accepted his invite and I've watch

Has it solved your rodent problem? You don't state what you're using it for and I'm afraid of the reply I'm going to get. Because it's illegal to use it outdoors.

It's a great course, very informative, but you can get work with a PC firm without qualification and they will pay for your exam, when the time comes. If you're under 21 you'll struggle getting on with one of the larger firms, for insurance reasons. Driving 30,000 miles a year is expensive and many places won't take the insurance liability. Don't let that put you off though. It's a great job and no two days are the same.

Try the Daisung Korean pellets. I've been very pleased with them in the Rapid.

I can live with that and wouldn't think twice about helping out. What's really getting me down is the fact that we have to pay someone to authorise these budgets and dispense the money. Yet more government bureaucracy. I just wish people could see how mismanaged the local authorities are... We can find billions to shore up failed businesses, and send soldiers to die in the desert, but we're coppering up for our kids education. It's a f*****g disgrace.

If I'm donating for extra gear for the school... computers, sports kits, etc... I'd write a cheque out with a zero or two added. I don't mind that. But if I'm shelling out for the electric bill, or the teachers overtime for having the play out of hours, then why the f**k am I paying more tax than ever before? If schools are funded from our taxation then we shouldn't be charged admission for something we've already paid for. Not singling you out Kay, just that you had the quote that was twisting my knickers. Extras is one thing but with the black hole that is the local authority we

I don't think the cost is the point. Why are they charging and what are they using the money for?

Please don't link to these videos. As much as we hate what they show and how they portray us, we give them free advertising. By doing so we push their idiocy up the search ratings, thus increasing their traffic and allowing more people to be exposed to their idiocy. I couldn't agree more. Using this site to advertise their videos gives them more publicity than you can shake a stick at. While we can sit here and see it for it's faults, there will be people that don't know what a larsen trap is and they'll be disgusted by that video thinking it's contents are common place. Ther

Sounds like the problem is that end. The account is still active and has no suspension. He's never been warned. Try and get him to log in from another computer to determine whether that is the problem. I think he needs to stop downloading porn. All that spyware can cause havoc, with site access, in the normal world. -
Cats are clearly a non-target species, in this case. You need to consider a strategy that doesn't involve snaring. Difficult, I know, but you risk a court case if you kill or badly injure the neighbours cats. As for advising an alternate method, it's extremely difficult as we know nothing about the situation. Land, cover, neighbours, etc. Obviously you have to control the rabbits but you have to weigh up the potential risks involved. Is it possible to remove the cats while you snare? Can they be kept inside or are they basically feral? Ferreting? Airgun? Fenn's etc...

How exactly have they scrapped the policy? Have they suddenly decided not to enforce the statute? I can't find anything 'official' at the time of this post. There is no argument as there is nothing to say you can't! Is an explosion in numbers realistic? They're on a steady increase, as they always have been, but this isn't like the rat numbers we're experiencing. I certainly don't dispute the amount of damage caused but I couldn't see a population explosion on the scale similar to a hypothetical ban on rodent enforcements. Unless the act is repealed I don't see how they ca

If Rodenticides were banned.......???
ChrisJones replied to a topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Devils Advocate... Has anyone here dealt with a serious public health problem using traps alone? By that I mean an active city centre with major structural problems to buildings, drainage and sewage infrastructure? Effecting an area of 3-4 square miles? If so what was your catch rate before you stopped counting the bodies? Would an 'old time rat catcher' be able to cope with the demands of a modern day city? Using aniseed oil and heavy gloves to catch the rats at the back of the local kebab shop? Would the time it takes to control such numbers, if possible at all, be acceptable in modern s -
A good idea is not to admit you're committing an offence, on an internet forum. You are not as anonymous as you think.

Very dubious legal ground. Capturing, holding and transporting can be construed as 'causing unnecessary suffering' under the 1911 and 1996 Acts. If you were repopulating an area I'm sure the public would commend your conservation attempts. As you've announced it on a hunting forum your intentions will be held as suspect. Especially as not everyone who reads these threads is on our side.

This is a very valid point. The government only care about votes and the money that comes from lobbyists. Like when the RSPCA donated millions to Labour's election funds in exchange for hunt bans and more legal powers. If they really cared about wildlife they would close the loopholes but unless someone offers a massive cash incentive that's about as likely as a successful prosecution under the existing Acts. Some of the posts I've removed from this forum, since 2004, have graphically detailed how dangerous it is to let playtime amateurs loose with chemicals. I've physically cringe

No worries, Jazz. The shit ain't worth trying to kill each other over. Let's just get on with gun talk... like we should be doing!

What people do in private is there business. What is said on the forum is my business, and that of THL mods. Jazz isn't correct with regard to the age limits on air rifles but encouraging people, or admitting, to break the law is not allowed in this section so please don't do it. I can't make people obey the law, when buying/using air rifles but I can stop tales of dubious legality appearing on the forum. Please. Don't. Just don't.
