Nuff said there, Timelord.

Sure why not! I'm sure it would be applicable to a percentage of THL members! The point of camouflage is concealment! Dressing like a digitally printed tree isn't good in every circumstance especially as alot of my shoots are conducted on business premises. Dressing like a pretend soldier will not get me a contract renewal next year! Overalls where it's needed. Ghillie suit when it isn't. Depends on your circumstances.

Would love to know how you get on with this. Keep us posted!

A gas ram changes the rifle significantly. You'll either love it or hate it but you will get consistent shots. An ox spring will also change the rifle significantly. It will turn it into an expensive piece of shit. If you take no other advice from this forum... Don't Use Ox Springs.

No option for none of the above!
-
Agreed it shouldn't but the old mounting brackets and vagueness of the laser made it impossible to keep zeroed. I spent countless hours trying on a Webley Stingray, BSA Lightning, HW77, HW97 and a TX200! While the PCP's were relatively trouble free the springers knocked the zero out in as little as 4 shots. These will never be a substitute for decent optics, IMHO. If the technology has improved then I could well be wrong but from my personal experience laser sighting is nothing more than an expensive gimmick. I can only go on what I've experienced and the testimony of others. I'd hate to

Not used it but if you're shooting a springer be careful with the laser. The recoil of the spring rifles is renown for knocking the zero out. I don't know whether the technology has improved, and this is no longer a problem but lasers are better suited to PCP's. I'd love to here any reviews about this lamp, as Tracer seemed to have the market sewn up.

I genuinely feel for you here, brecon. I played tighthead, for about 16 years and consistent injuries have seen me have to stop playing rugby, altogether. I suffer from mild obstructive sleep apnea as a result of nose/facial injuries but the worst I suffered was when I experienced visual problems. I now have two detaching retinas as a result of taking blunt head trauma, concussions, etc. Doctor told me that I had to pack it in as my next tackle could see me lose my eyesight and end up with major eye surgery. Since quitting the symptoms have eased but I don't know what I'd be able to do

Head shot. Either a straight kill or a complete miss. No one is perfect but it minimises wounding.

I'm a fan of the Birchwood Casey stuff but it can be expensive, so shop around. As for the rust removal... I use Parker Hale Youngs 303 Oil (roughly £3 a can) and some very fine grade steel wool 000 (that's treble zero) or 0000 (quadruple or 4 zero's). Liberally apply the Youngs to the steel wool and the GENTLY work it into the rusty spots. You should feel the steel agitate the rust and it will start to lift off. Do Not Apply Too Much Pressure As You Will Eventually Start To Remove The Blueing. The Coarser The Wool The Quicker This Will Happen When you're done, wipe off the ex

f*****g hell Timelord! We should all jack it in then!

No worries, Roybo. I wasn't having a dig or anything. California is a strange place... they seem to be anti pretty much everything. Except gay marriage! From what I've seen of the US you can't ask for a more hunting friendly part of the world. As you're probably aware I have more of a pro-shooting role on this forum but a gun ban, in Washington DC, was recently overturned as being unconstitutional. Ask yourself what the chances of that happening in the UK are? People will always propose silly laws based on their knee jerk reactions of the time. One thing the Americans are way out
-
My understanding is that both north and south require their version of the FAC to legally hold an air rifle. The best way to find out what those requirements are will be to contact your local police station and discuss your requirements with them.
-
Did you manage to get the rust off?
-
What Pops said! Proposed law and actual law are very different. Hunting with dogs, in California, is alive and well... unlike Britain.
-
We've been having an interesting debate about this over in the airgun forum. How long before they change the law, again?

In fairness Consignia is now the demon that used to be the GPO. The minute it became a business, as opposed to a service, we knew we were on to a loser... I agree though. It's a frustrating venture dealing with the Royal Mail. Have you considered another courier service?
-
I'd like to see that too!
-
Sorry it came across that way but that is absolutely not what I'm trying to say or achieve. I'm trying to pre-empt a total ban on airguns by offering a workable solution to the current. Only a total ban will see me not using air guns any more. I won't have a problem getting an FAC because I already have one. This isn't to stick it in your face, I simply want to alert people to the dangers of complacency and try to come to an agreement that will protect the sport for all. Me, you, foxyjo, my kids, your kids, etc. I'm the least likely to be effected by it but that doesn't stop me doing s

Sounds like you'll be fine but that's how easy it is to be on the wrong side of it. I mean we live in a society where an armed response unit will pull over a mother, and her kids, on the school run... because someone reported a gun to the police. A child's toy! The thing that really turned me off, to the Countryside Alliance, is when I saw the empty cases of champagne outside their tent, at two of the game fairs. That's our donation money. In a time when PR is paramount they do something like that. They took money from people who can't really afford it and pissed it up the wall. They dit

Something as simple as that could have totally prevented this incident and avoided a tragedy and a national headline. I honestly can't see the problem with sensible restriction on sales and usage. The "If You Outlaw Guns, Then Only Outlaws Will Have Them" debate is fine when we're talking about self defence but airguns are legitimate tools for a legitimate use. Like banning circular saws because someone lost a finger. Equally you wouldn't leave your saw plugged in and walk away leaving a 5 year old playing nearby. The VCR Bill is the Violent Crime Reduction Bill. It's now an act of parli

It's not a case of I'm alright jack. Airguns are very close to being banned and all because of these so called accidents that happen. I'm hoping you misread what I said because I'm certainly not holier than thou but the same reason you can't have a firearms certificate is the same reason I can. Yes you made mistakes, you paid the penalty and you have to live your life the best you can. I'm not here to condemn you as I don't know you and I never will but the reality here is that airguns are going to banned, or put on ticket. That will only effect me for the length of time it takes to get the ne

Live catching Rats
ChrisJones replied to Dowen Pest Control Solutions's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Good advice. I tend to go with whatever they seem to be eating at the time. If they're raiding bird tables definitely but if they're eating old chippy out of the bin then fat balls ain't gonna work. Kebab meat has been my weapon of choice, in the city centres, even to the stage where I dip the traps in the oily run off. Main thing is see what works for you and stick with it. Rats are intelligent creatures, and gourmets in some cases! Respect your enemy. -
You'll struggle getting a Meteor above 10ft/lbs. Might want to look at an upgrade.

I can see your point but my idea of a ticket would be something along the lines of the shotgun ticket but with a proficiency test. It's more to do with safety and marksmanship than anything else along with a lockable cabinet. Stuff alot of do already despite the fact it's voluntary. But in answer to your question I can't see a solution to your personal situation. Criminalising all airguns puts everyone in the same boat and this is the way it will go when there are more stories, like this, hitting the media. Semi autos were outlawed after Hungerford. Handguns after Dunblane. Is anyone that
