  1. I suppose we should be shocked and surprised...but we,re not and that tells its own story ! Ive said many times i dont want another foreigner down at West Ham....but i dont think we could turn our nose up at him
  2. Just watched it.....brilliant.... and a great example of what can be achieved with a life of fitness and dedication. Wouldnt surprise me at all to see him still going at it at 50.
  3. Yeah along with Doncaster and Barnsley like me....minus Europe of course. Glad to see Wolves stay up any side who beats Chelsea,Man Utd,Liverpool deserve to stay up.

It was one of those fights that just depend what the judges like....if that had been in America Degale would probably have got the decision as they always favour the fighter whos walking forward....i wouldnt argue with the outcome when fights are that close and Groves did fight a great fight tactically....i still feel Degale gave the fight away and having never been hurt in the entire 12 rounds and having had Groves hurt several times a more accomplished experienced fighter than Degale would have put him away.....but thats the way it go,s Groves need not look back now and good luck to him he,s
  5. Great talent John Conteh he was a bit before my time but i remember his second fight with Chris Finnegan....both the Finnegans were some of the physically toughest men i ever saw as a youngster i remember their fight at Wembley Chris got stopped on cuts i remember being shocked that he could be hurt and cut up like that Conteh went on to bigger things of course....dont know if your aware Mickey Duff actually lost out on Conteh to Don King of all people,Conteh wasnt happy with George Francis training him, went looking for a new trainer and in stepped King.He did end up back with George for th
  6. Yes but then you are quite a bitter twisted poisonous young man it would appear ....most folk would remember his genius with a ball at his feet and 2 Fifa world player of the year awards. I could say i remember him dragging his studs down the back of Lee Bowyers calf at West Ham but id tend to remember his hat trick in the same game more,i suppose some of us try to look at the positives
  7. Ive been sick as a dog all over the wknd hence im dicking around on here instead of watching my Hammers.....a blessing in disguise possibly
  8. Off the top of my head id say 2 Premier League titles,3 FA Cups,Champions League runners up,1 Cup Winners Cup,2 or 3 League cups and Charity Shields.
  9. ...what you on about now !....Im not an Arsenal fan what do i care im not crying about it....the average fan is not bothered if their club is in millions of pounds of debt no,and why should they be.....whats that got to do with the way Arsenal football club is run ?....im not an Arsenal fan so i couldnt give a bollock either way
  10. Im not talking about what they won with clubs Malt im talking about as individual players....as individuals i think it would be hard to say Wenger let them go while they was at the top of their game....i remember an Arsenal pal of mine saying for the last 2 years Henry was there they should get rid of him. Dont know maybe im wrong.....but i think Wengers very shrewd where money for players is concerned
  11. Its a fair point....but i do think Wenger has a knack of letting players go at the right times from a purely footballing point of view....the 3 players you mentioned, did they ever again reach the heights they did at Arsenal,no.......but i get what your saying,to bring the youngsters along.Wenger has done everything on a budget, look at Henry he came to Arsenal for pennies as a left winger and left one of the worlds great strikers....Wenger is a chairmans dream, but as a simple football manager he should really be screaming out to his chairman for money to improve his squad.......for me Wenger ha
  12. Having 42 clubs or whatever it is within a population the size of London doesnt help !!....Why the need for a further 3 divisions after the premier league is beyond me....if Inverness CT get gates of 3,000 and they are a mid table premier league side, simple logic tells you theres no need for a further 30 clubs behind them.....Scottish football is run more like sunday football and thats fine......but when yous get all hot under the collar about the money in English football you direct your anger at us down here instead of looking at your own game.....i mean,i could half understand if you was st
  13. I couldnt agree more....if they had a couple of old fashioned English centre halfs and an Ian Wright type finisher they would be a very hard side to beat, they make so many chances in and around the box Ian Wright would be in his element. YOu look at the side on paper and theres not really any players you would swap for Utd or Chelseas equivalent player.....yet they are always up and around there....trouble i think they will have is unless they do buy a few players to finish the team off they are likely to lose kids like Ramsey/Wiltshire.....young kids want to be winning stuff not building for
  14. Baw when you talk like this you remind me of a child trying to pick up a wet bar of soap !....Look,at risk of offending you,Scottish football is shit, you know that and i know that.....whether its beyond repair i dont know or indeed care very much. But people like you trying to drag the English game down just because your own game is shit is quite laughable,to then drag Spanish statistics into the argument to try to give your points some validity just reek of desperation ! One minute you want to debate what happens on a football pitch as facts, the next minute you want to debate what happens on
  15. Just watched it....quite moving in parts i liked what Bobby Charlton said about being a very good friend, yet hundreds of others could say the same. My father fought on the same shows as Henry a number of times he said he " just wasnt like the rest of us "....knowing my ol fella like i do,that was a big compliment ....Henry had very basic values and was a straightforward decent man....sadly his kind are becoming rare.
  16. I havent spoken to him for a few years,Jimmy Tibbs is a friend from years back i know he phones him occasionally just to make sure he,s still alive ...he turns 82 next month last i heard a few months back he,s not in the best of health so what with the recent sad losses in the sport its probably on the cards unfrotunately.
  17. Personally i think its an area thing....i could name you at least 6 or 7 gyms within 2 square miles of East London....go to another area you wont find any....probably the same up Liverpool way some areas just maintain good traditions in boxing and some dont. The whole mma thing hasnt really taken off here for that reason, its more of a trendy thing.I do think theres too much rush these days to go into the pros but thats just the times we live in,20 years ago talented youngsters stayed amateur for much longer whereas today you have 18 year olds signing their careers away chasing fame and fortune
  18. Ticket touts make far more at the actual events than anywhere else.....go up Leicester Square on any given day and you will find at least 20 touts standing outside the half price ticket booth, another 20 odd standing around the theatres.....same as at any big sporting event or concert. Just look how many folk go to big sporting events/concerts without tickets willing to pay anything.....thats where the real money is made on tickets.
  19. Thats exactly what im saying Degale fought the wrong fight he simply continued their fight as amateurs instead of using what he,s learned in the pros......Degale knew he could hurt him but couldnt cut the ring down,Groves was giving him good angles but as a pro Degale should be able to get around that his footwork looked awful. I agree Groves shouldnt look back now though i think its clear neither of them will go to the very top so in reality a return is probably the biggest fight out there for him....as for Haye,Frank Warren has done more for British Boxing and British Boxers than Haye will
  20. For me Degale gave that fight away he was never hurt and Groves was hurt 3 or 4 times but was still too tentative. He made the fatal mistake ive seen so many times in rematches.....he simply continued the last fight !....So many times fighters fall into the same pattern the first fight took and thats the big mistake Degale made....it was like an amateur fight for 10 rounds single shots and holding the distance....Degale never pressured Groves enough but fair play to Groves he stuck in and gutted it out Degale only has himself to blame. Personally i agreed with Jim Watts scoring i had them even
  21. Was supposed to be there tonight but been feeling like shit last few days so gave my tickets away, just watched the Frankie Gavin fight he was poor, the boy Saunders looked good....Cleverly is up next i dont think he will have it all his own way....ive got a decent bet on Degale mid rounds in the main fight.
  22. You can word it whatever way you like mate......they SHOULD be able to have it both ways......the fact that some folk are obssessed with what a footballer does when he,s not playing football dont make it right....i say again, our f****d up society has a lot more to answer for than wealthy young lads doing what wealthy young lads do
  23. Id like to see Wolves stay up.....Wigan and Blackpool to go down.
  24. Nice romantic theory.....the reality is...... he just wasnt !
