  1. Make sure you left a hole at one end for drainage..........thats the mistake folk often make then wonder why they end up with a f*****g great abcess !
  2. It was pretty decent of him to give you gloves though Back then i think schools just made the best of what was available rather than having to stick to some daft curriculum,we was in a piss poor area but it didnt cost nothing to run....and run we did ....we used to have what they called " the block run " as there was no proper athletics track for miles....the block run was the 4 streets that surrounded our school at a guess i suppose it was maybe 3/4 of a mile, throughout the generations the records of the fastest times were kept on the hall wall for years....if you held the record for the
  3. Not really into the shows myself but might just give this one a look....not a million miles away and been told its a goodun,so why not
  4. Its an interesting point you make about schools....i dont know about sport in todays curriculums or whatever they are called.....but i know when i was at school many moons ago there were certain sports that were encouraged and others we just didnt do....i think it certainly is an area thing, well it was then at least. Every school in my local area had an intense rivalry when it came to football or boxing....i might be wrong but i dont think many areas of the country have ever had boxing as part of physical education in schools, they dont now obviously but back then because there were so many lo
  5. For me Haye just didnt come out to win the rounds, hence what appeared to be inactivity....once the 6/7th round had passed he had kind of shot himself in the foot because he then needed the ko to win anyway ! Haye wouldnt of lived with Holyfield at cruiserweight or heavyweight in my opinion....in his prime Holyfield was a very intense athlete who was great at nothing but very good at everything and had no weakness....would his fights with Dwight Qawi at light heavyweight have been before your time mate ?...great fights if you havent seen them already
  6. Certainly a fine looking place....somewhere ive never been or paid much attention to really and i love a nice bit of scenery as well.....whats the situation there as regards,erm....darkies,pakies,poles etc ? Might have a visit in the not too distant future.
  7. agreed Totally agree.....in the main,a bird likes a bloke to be a bloke and a bloke likes a bird to be a bird.....theres nothing manly about earrings and nothing feminine about tattoos, simple.Or maybe im just prehistoric
  8. 30 British Heavyweight World Champions since the war ...we wished ...or is that 30 at any weight, sounds more feasible. And dont the yanks have around 300 million population compared to our 65ish ?...meaning on the whole they would need around 6 times as many champions as us........dont matter how long they held a title just as long as they won it. Its a real hard one to work out,the tough part comes with ethnicity...a fighter like Lennox Lewis...did he win a World title as a Brit or a Canadian.....Calzaghe,Welsh or Italian etc etc Id love to have some solid facts i just dont hav
  9. Very interesting, good man Must say though i think its only of real significance to countries who have won a fair few medals( how they have done the top 10 )... by rights some remote island with 100 people could top the table if 1 man happened to be a gold medal winner. This has reminded me of a similar debate ive been having with a yank friend of mine for years now about who has had the most boxing world champions since the war per population Britain or America.....im convinced its us but dont have either the know how or statistics to prove it
  10. Bang on The big tactical mistake they made was they didnt come out to win the rounds.....they were relying on the big knockout so with 5 rounds gone and no sign of Haye getting close enough to knock him out he had to do something different but didnt. The farce now will be if Haye gets another shot at either of the Klitchsko,s without having to go back down the ladder like everyone else does.....normally a fighter only gets an immediate rematch if its a very close fight or theres some kind of big controversy.....and there was neither, and no reason to think if they fought again it woul
  11. " prevention of cruelty " ...makes your f****n blood boil when this happens....if they havent got the facilities or expertise then leave well alone.....sadly common sense is something the rspca lack preferring to do things " by the book " whether they know what they,re doing or not Some of you fellas who were into the gamedogs will probably remember the case years ago where an 11 year old dog who earned his title of gr ch in his younger day,who was living out the life of riley quietly and peacefully on his owners yard......was taken under the dangerous dogs act and within 3 months was dead
  12. My word....if they are facts, thats a fantastic contribution to this whole debate.......well done sir
  13. Mine was just a guess But having looked....im not sure where you get 14 for the Yanks from i counted 10.......also 6 for the Japanese
  14. I was at that fight he fought Mark Potter at Wembley for the British Title his right shoulder popped out 2 or 3 times during the fight ended up knocking Potter out with a left hook.....very gutsy performance.
  15. I try to have faith in the fact that every fighter at the highest level does his best to try to win his fight.....so for that reason i truly believe Haye just didnt have any other plan apart from the one he went in with.Adam Booth is looked at like some god like figure at the moment especially after the Groves/Degale thing...... its one thing going in with a good battleplan, but its a totally different thing to have to change that plan during a fight thats not going your way.....and in my opinion thats where Adam Booth,s naivety and lack of experience really showed last night.....can you imagin
  16. What and Lewis wasnt....Lewis was 38 had 1 more fight then retired.
  17. No surprises at all really.Ive been saying for a while now that sooner or later Haye will pay the price for not going with a proper boxing trainer....Adam Booth is basically a fitness coach with no boxing experience whatsoever. There was always going to come a time in a fight when Haye needed to change tactics and be able to dig deep in a tactical battle.....tonight was that time and he had no answer, just kept doing the same things that were not working. From the off Haye couldnt get round the jab and was having to reach in with his punches....Klitchsko had a pretty easy nights work. Then as
  18. ok i didnt know that....ive heard of London Harlequins ....isnt rugby more of a university thing,i know the ol bill love it so maybe why its not massively popular in London i dont know ...i did try to get into watching it but was far too stop start and confusing for me,got every respect for them as athletes though
  19. Your local leisure centre will want around 12 pound per hour for the hire of a tennis court. It costs virtually nothing to play football.....it costs virtually nothing to box........pretty self explannatory really if your 2 young 12 year old boys out for an aftenoon of sport......but potentially they could well have a talent for playing tennis. All sport should be easily accessible to all kids in any area in my opinion.
  20. A lovely ol fella who used to train boxers once said to me " every human being has a talent for something, its just finding out what it is " ....I also believe we all have a talent be it sport,entertaining,academically,whatever.......it just often never gets realised. How many naturally gifted footballers are sitting in offices not knowing it......your absolutely right
  21. I think in this country especially it applies to quite a lot of sports....rugby is pretty much a northern thing, hockey is a university thing, cricket, well i dont really know who plays that but certainly football, boxing etc are the working mans sports......so i think location/upbringing plays a bigger factor than we realise. Interesting little natter anyway And whats rugby football it cant be both surely ..not a rugby fan myself but compared to them soppy yanks with half a ton of padding and crash helmets rugby must totally embarrass them.
  22. Excellent news....i take it his hand healed ok then.....used to wear the green and gold vest myself as a kid theres a lot of history behind the club so he,s mixing in good company.....certainly a big lad at that age, keep him dedicated and learning and we,ll hopefully see more of him in time
  23. You say that but yes i do believe where you are raised makes a big difference in some sports......Some sports like football or boxing can lift kids out of the shit.......would Tim Henman or Andy Murray have played lawn tennis had they grown up on the Silwood Estate Bermondsey....no......would David Haye have boxed had he been brought up in a leafy Surrey suburb, probably not.......the greatest sportsmen this country have ever produced did not come from money, thats a fact......the beauty of 90% of sport is it has no boundaries.....pretty much anybody can be succesful regardless of background.
  24. ANYWAY.....ANY COUNTRY THAT THROWS AN EGG SHAPED OBJECT WITH THE HANDS.........AND CALLS IT FOOTBALL ......YOU HAVE TO BE A TINY BIT DUBIOUS ABOUT !
  25. Boxing....wrong....Mexico Athletics...wouldnt swear to it but my guess would be Russia, though fair do,s they still have a fair shout. Cycling....dont know. Swimming, possibly but id say the Aussies would run them close. mma who cares its not even a proper sport. Tennis....possibly. Of the worlds most popular sports only boxing could really be included, and they dont lead the world in that.....athletics though yes thats a fair point 3 of the most popular sports in the world are Soccer,Cricket and Hockey......of which America are good at neither.
