If you think Italy or Australia have had more success in world sport than Britain ......then like i thought at the start its probably not a debate thats worth having ! I get what you lads are saying and thanks for explaining it ...... I still find it hard to make an excuse for Cavendish though..... psycology is a big part of all sport......and it seems like our lads were totally out thought.

Would that be at the Lea Valley white water rafting place i take it ?.....I pass by their a lot so watched it built bit by bit very impressive venue...... Dont know nothing about it but good luck to the Brits.

Personally i have a deep seated mistrust for a non competetive man.................." i cant win so im not playing " is a horrible mentality to have.................if a human being has no desire to improve he lacks human spirit in my opinion................have a listen to Seb Coes speech at the opening ceremony.....it summed sport up for me.

Either or.................We,re talking about Sport in general not specific sports like Jamaica in the sprints !!! How many world champion boxers have Jamaica produced compared to GB ? How well does the Argentinian Cricket team do on an annual basis compared to England/GB ? How do the Jamaicans fair at Rugby compared to GB ? Who is Jamaicas equivalent to Steve Redgrave in the rowing ? Totally agree mate not rocket science is it.....the principal of " a race " means the one who finishes first wins and the others......dont !............however you go about crossing the line first is up to you long as its within the rules......if no rules are broken whats their to moan about. But why should ANY team not just GB have to rely on help from teams you are competing against ......its not like having a pacemaker in a track event in order to break a world record,they are all competing to win the race . I dont claim to know what im on about but surely an event like this go,s against what competition is really all about............competition should always be about the best winning and the worst losing................if the best can only win if they get help from those they,re competing against well that go,s against the basic principal of sport to me it dont seem right.

While i accept theres probably a lot more to it than i know.......i think the shit this Cavendish fellas coming out with is all a bit embarrassing......be a man and take it on the chin like a proper chap should,nobody likes a bad loser who makes excuses..................the hard truth is they all started in the same place and all finished in the same place if 27 people finished before you just say well done,learn from it and move on.

Gonetoearth is absolutely right..........take the boxing for instance,apparently its taking place at the Excel where there is at least 6 amateur gyms and 3 pro gyms i can think of off the top of my head within spitting distance of the arena......that part of London has historically been a hotbed for boxing................the Excel is not a massive arena so if theres ANY empty seats you would have to question why. Same can probably be said about a lot of sports.

Well what the f**k was all that about Im not naive enough to pretend theres not more to it than simply reaching the line first.......but stone me if your the favorites to win how can you let your competitors get so far in front without thinking well maybe we better go catch them now !!! Yes but the modern Olympic Games were founded by a Frenchman...............if im not wrong its an official requirement that announcements be given in French first as French is the official language of the IOC ..........hence why its the same at every Olympics.

i was thinking that!!!! surly in 2012 most women will want there own life/job/money etc.... You dont know my daughter lads .........................she has her own life,her own job,and certainly has her own money ...................shes always been a career girl and has done well for herself.......which was why i was so surprised when she announced she was getting married,and particularly into army life !.......but having got to know the lad i can see why and im delighted she has. I honestly couldnt tell you mate im not really up to speed with the amateur scene.....gonetoearth is your man to ask..... The only one ive really taken an interest in is Anthony Joshua as he,s a heavyweight......he,s got a tough start fighting the Cuban who won a world gold medal,he,s the son of Felix Savon someone told me who won 3 Olympic golds so...............but if he can get passed him i think he,s a great chance of a gold.

Just watched the last hour that i missed......how anyone could fail to be impressed by that i dont know i thought it was superb........Seb Coes speech was brilliant " the purity of sport is irressistable ".....what a line that was !!.............great idea with the youngsters lighting the torch taking it off a big strong athlete like Redgrave too.........couldnt fault any of it......apart from the bit with Ali i dont like to see him paraded about like that anymore................but in all i thought it was a fantastic example of all things good about Britain.

Im absolutely gutted i fell asleep just before GB came out .....Would anyone happen to be able to do a link thing to watch the bit where Ali was on.....and the lighting of the torch ? Think the French thing is the same at every Olympics wherever it is so its nothing to get pissed off about its just following tradition.

I dont claim to know much about a lot of the sports in the Olympics.................personally i dont think footie should even be in it ! But for you chaps who follow sport if you had to hazard a guess.... A.....How many golds will GB get ? B.....Where will we place in the overall medals table ? From the little i know id guess at maybe 12 golds.......and place 4th behind 1.Yanks.....2.Chinese.......3.Russians. What yous reckon ?

Its a private house Socks......just happens to be on the fringes of Bulford Barracks.....the army sold them off and the previous owner who was army but now does search and rescue has to be living in the area he is serving....hence the sale........from what we can make out around half the properties are Army folk the other half civvies.......dont know if you ever pass through that way but theres a lot of new developments going up.........shes a smart lass and knows the property game but when its your own home common sense go,s out the window im going down there at the weekend i dread to think w
