Well in Wilf i love listening to folk who have played the game....there used to be a Scottish lad off here i forget his name now who had played at a decent level i used to like hearing his thoughts as well. I think in a roundabout way we are in agreement.....it takes an allrounder in any sport to be the very best,you cant reach the pinnacle of your sport if you have weaknesses........though i do think the game is changing to the point where tackling is not as important as it once was......if you watch the Spanish clubs play each other they barely make a tackle but the price you pay for that -

Imho, Its about both.....but "tough" is probably the wrong word to use, I would say mental & physical strength and unflinching commitiment What you say makes a lot of sense mate and I think there is a difference between just putting it about for the sake of being a "tough guy" and being a hard, committed, skilful player. To me, a fully committed tackle at full speed, genuinely focused on winning the ball without another thought in your mind is totally different to just kicking people. I dont agree Rebel.....look at the supposedly greatest side to ever play the game the 1970 Brazil side where was the " tough men " in that team ?.......The game tonight Utd v Real Madrid two of the great sides where are the tough men ?......Barcelona ? ok Puyol can put it about if he needs to but hardly in the Vinny Jones/Jimmy Case/Norman Hunter bracket is he...... I can agree with a lot of that some players forget what its like to be a young kid with idols......the worst part of it is that for some of them it wasnt that long ago !!.....Its almost like they sign a contact and forget who they were last week ! I thought Lennon was a touch naive last night,its all very well saying " they had a go in the first half ".....but when you look at sides like Stoke or Sunderland they play very cagey against better sides and try to nick a goal they dont come straight out blasting.....West Brom only got out their own half a few times the other night but still beat Liverpool 2 nil........ It surprised me because i thought he got it spot on against Barcelona.

Thats interesting........ive been around some pretty fearless and probably quite intimidating people over the years but im yet to meet a man who had no weakness.......................its just a matter of finding it.................Please god it doesnt happen for a long while yet but whatever your weakness turns out to be Socks id almost guarentee you have emotion just like the rest of us.Me....Watership Down still gets me every time Gnash I can tell you now that my Achilles heel is my kids I would be a broken crushed man if something happened to one of My angels ...
