He,s a mate of yours is he.....he,s fighting one of our local boys Ahmet Patterson it will be a good fight Ahmet,s a slick box fighter type and from what ive seen of Williams he,s a relentless pressure fighter i think he will overwhelm and beat our boy but its a good title fight between unbeaten fighters so all to lose.

It was always a horrible time of year for me i hated it us all being council estate kids with no gardens it tended to be a bit like Beirut with every block of flats doing a fire and letting fireworks off all over the estate i was a bit of a pussy and didnt like them so would watch from my bedroom window until i braved it one year and actually poked my head over the balcony only for a firework to go whizzing past my ear nearly taking my head off.......f**k all that even these days if i have mates and their kids round someone will let the word out that im petrified and i,ll have all the littluns

Similar to me mate, though i do also put a lot in what Wilf just said about " look around you ".......but likewise im not really a church goer and cant get into the bible but i cant go against my own gut......religious/believer call it what you will i just keep it simple and call it a faith in God.

Personally i think its a bit much everyone piling in full stop its like standing round clapping and hollering trying to get 2 blokes to square up and fight. Personally i cant see why either would lie about it if Socks and the ol boy have been there and done it neither have anything to prove.

Theres a hundred reasons for getting dropped you might of just got caught square, got your feet wrong or simply made a technical mistake it doesnt mean your chinny even if its a hard knockdown that wobbles you to your ankles, then its all about your powers of recovery.......but getting knocked out regularly suggests you dont have the actual punch resistance.

Yes i guess your right......im not too sure where this " casual fan " label has sprouted up from though your either a fan or your not but the thing that gets me today is how with everything being so open now regarding matchmaking people get all hot under the collar about fights being made then called off its this opponent then its that etc etc .....stone me when Mickey Duff,Terry Lawless,Astaire,Barrett,Earnie Fossey and all the other managers/promoters of the ,s were around fights were being made and cancelled every few days there was complete screaming sessions, telephones being thrown around

Id like to know roughly when this obsessively respectful culture came into play because it certainly wasnt around in the 50,s 60,s 70,s ,s 90,s.....infact its only the last few years ive seen footballers wearing poppies.

Blimey this has all gone a bit bandy..... i saw that place Merthyr Tydfil mentioned and it brought back a memory from years ago when i was first getting into the bulldogs some fella took me to this gaff in a little village place nearby Merthyr i cant for the life of me remember the name of it but it was one of these valleys type gaffs.....it wasnt particularly rough or hard i just remember the lad taking me out the back to show me his bulldogs and behind this big row of terraced houses was a load of allotments that had a good 10 or 12 scarred up bulldogs on chains, half cut cars ready for ringi

Why do people these days make such a big deal about a fighter getting decked in sparring.....only in todays internet world has it ever been important i saw good fighters like Bruno/Mason/Kaylor/Marsh/Benn decked regularly it was no big deal i remember Nigel Benn suffering a heavy knockdown by a well known east end tattooist it wasnt big news even in gyms it was hard sparring back then you took punches sometimes thats the sport. Why anybody would think less of a fighter because he got put on his arse learning his trade shows a little bit about where the sport is becoming too transparent in

What on earth are you puffing your chest out about there wasnt anything cryptic you seem to be interested in who i am and what im about and your not going to find that out on here you are the one giving it all the " Oi Beryl see him at number 17 he,s a millionaire gangster " like some little old village gossip if you want to know who i am come and find out in the real world.....95 % of folk on here are ok but there has been a small handful of idiots who seemed to get some perverse pleasure from dishing dirt on me concerning my private life that unfortunately a few lads like you have latched o

Theres kids down here paying 50/60 quid a month to train in mma it just dont seem right to me it was always the done thing to get rough unruly kids off the streets by getting them into boxing gyms....it just couldnt happen if they had to pay that sort of money but then boxing has a history and tradition that mma hasnt had time to develop yet which is why it will be interesting after the trend dies down and your just left with the sport itself and what it represents.

It was the opposite for us as kids we,d walk off the estates in Canning Town and Custom House onto rough traveller sites....out the fire into the frying pan

Thats similar to when the ex fighter Mark Potter took over the Higham Hill Tavern in Walthamstow when it turned up on one of these roughest pubs in Britain programs it was shut down a few months later as the other local pubs took offence and it turned into scenes out of a wild west film every other night.

If you knew that s/c/d stood for Strictly Come Dancing maybe you are already.

Oh ok the way the conversation reads i was thinking it was some kind of sexual practise ive obviously missed out on

Whether folk care to admit it or not mma is a fad,a trend.....the " in thing " for young lads and with that go,s the obligatory " tap out & tattoos " its a standing joke in old fashioned boxing gyms ( not that im disrespecting it as i think its a good competitive sport )........but mma gyms are run as businesses with kids paying quite often silly money whereas boxing gyms were essentially for the kids who didnt have any money......when mma gets past this fashion stage which im sure it will it will be interesting to see where it is as a pure sport.

I had an English oak grow from acorn last winter this spring and summer it grew 8inches in its first season and had to be re potted these big nursheries like barchams seem to know what they are doing and all there oaks are acorn grown I know absolutely nothing about trees but that place Barchams is a hell of a gaff they know their stuff and have ridiculously fertile land we bought some young trees off them years ago on the advice of a good experienced gardener and he wasnt wrong......the groung they are in must make a huge difference to their initial growth surely.

Big difference between dangerous manors and plain rough..........theres plenty of places tucked away round South or East London you wouldnt want to get caught out in probably the same as most big cities but they,re not what id call rough any more......as for rough/rucker type pubs and areas i agree Glasgow took some beating when i used to visit there years ago but id imagine some of these mad little villages can be plenty rough enough with the same local faces falling out and making up every 5 minutes.

the wife thought that (orgasmic) was the name of a washing machine anyway we both love S/C/D now , Im slightly nervous about asking this as i dont want to drag this conversation into the gutter...........but what exactly does s/c/d stand for

Have a read over the next 4 pages like ive just done and ask yourself which side it is that actually tries to do the convincing on debates of this nature

I dont really keep up with world boxing much so couldnt put up a strong case for either but from the little ive seen its a good match up the old boxer versus fighter scenario still makes for a great competitive event......i dont know how Ward holds the extra weight but i would imagine he,ll be looking to out busy Kovalev and nick the rounds i remember being impressed with his pure ability and timing when he fought Froch and remember the way Kovalev bullied Cleverley but im sure they,ve both come on a lot since then so looking forward to a high quality good old fashioned battle of styles.

Its nothing to do with disrespecting the significance of the poppy im just sick and tired of societies grievances getting dragged into sport the talking points leading up to sporting contests should be who,s going to win not whether one player is going to shake hands with the player whos bird he,s just f****d or whether one player is going to call another man a wog again sport shouldnt have to keep answering to society issues i dont remember players wearing poppies on their shirts when we was young where has this fad suddenly come from......what i find almost amusing about it is now that we li

Load of ol bollocks if you ask me why sport particularly football has got to constantly be the guiding light for all societies problems and protests is beyond me......no of course its not a political statement but come on who really cares if a footballer has a poppy stitched into his shirt for 90 minutes im all for respecting the sentiments and meaning of it but i do think as a nation we are often guilty of making a big song and dance about these things and using football to make humanitarian issues bigger than they really need to be i think just makes us look like a bunch of fannies to other

For me a Whyte/Chisora fight will come down to miles on the clock......Chisora has a lot and Whyte doesnt......good old domestic heavyweight scrap though just how it should be good on both boys for not standing about waiting for opportunities to land in their lap.
