  1. The fun with being " spur of the moment townies " in these type of scenarios is the funny looks people with hiking boots, thermo flasks, compasses and rucksacks give 3 dosey looking ruffians wearing shorts and t shirt kneeling down in the blocks position of a 100 metre sprint at the bottom of a mountain ? " Do you think we should of brought a bottle of water " my pal said......" no f**k it we,re fit enough....ready,steady,go " i says ? The things people do for a bet ! Sounds like you got the right approach Mushroom....planning is key to enjoying it as opposed to just surviving ?
  2. Thats it mate yes.....passed away an interesting couple of hours.
  3. No bad idea.....something we couldnt help but become aware of over the course of the game was the steady build up of piss/beer sloshing round your ankles every time you approach the troughs.....we stayed to watch the Yarde/Kovalev fight afterwards and by round 7 it was just unbearable,i guess thats the drawback encouraging men to look forward instead of down while taking a jimmy.....or maybe its just a Welsh thing i dont know ?
  4. I thought Anthony acquitted himself well he has all the tools to become a champion im glad he went for it and didnt just hold out for a clear points loss.....he has to get rid of that fool in his corner though you just cant have that " mates " relationship with a fighter.....Yardes a gutsy lad and has got where he is on sheer talent, with the correct input im sure he has another 30% on top of what he has showed up to now.
  5. I saw 1 or 2 in some gaff called Rhayader a few days ago.....i,ll have to get a proper camera one of these days !
  6. Me and a couple of pals have been in mid Wales on a bit of business one of them is a keen Arsenal fan and was desperate to see the game against Liverpool on saturday so we eventually found a pub to watch it....and what a cracking little footie pub it was......we very nearly pissed ourselves at this ( no pun intended ).....i thought it was blindin ?
  7. Shit sorry my apologies for being nosey. In that case that makes 2 of us i,ll try my best squire ?
  8. I couldnt talk my kids into coming but me and my pals missed out on kids stuff so tend to make up for it later in life....spent some time around mid Wales this week and saw a big pillar from the road off in the distance ....that locals apparently call " Rodneys Pillar "......so what better idea than have a race to the top ? Bit steeper than we thought we was nearly throwing up by the time we got there....but the views were certainly worth it.
  9. I cant help but wonder what the urgency is for a 10 pound bottle of plonk. For a number of years now ive had an account with one of the oldest wine merchants in Britain i can certainly ask them for you but id have my doubts they could help they wouldnt be able to make enough money off it ? I,ll have the occasional drop of red at the dinner table other than that i cant stand the stuff but its a nice little interest to make a couple of quid off.
  10. Apart from people i completely trust in that scenario i,ll stay on my own thanks. Beyond that... anyone who is willing to do a 25 year rec for me
  11. Yes but taking steroids is not what makes a steroid user a c**t......someone with a tattoo like that on their face is a c**t because they have a tattoo like that on their face !
  12. Id love to see Yarde win this,he,s a local lad and a nice chap....ok his trainers a prick and will possibly hold him back through his career but you have to get behind local lads....betting underdog and not sure he has enough to beat Kovalev if im honest,Anthony is a good solid technician and a clean puncher but has always been too 1 paced for me i can see him being out hustled and beaten on points.
  13. I always think conversations of this nature go in the direction of what society deems " hard ".....and its a pretty sad truth that most people see it as something to do with fighting. The 2 examples i gave of the " hardest " people i know have absolutely nothing to do with fighting.....fighting comes perfectly natural to some people so whats hard about it. It just seems a sad symbol of society when regular people discuss a subject like this and it always ends up in fighting talk.
  14. The underdog is always going to receive more recognition.....but does that actually make him " harder ".........i dont know.....often convos like this become a play on words i just think the man who reaches the furthest place away from what nature gave him is the bigger achiever....make of that what you will ?
  15. Good sensible post that.
  16. Its only sporting hardness though Len.....Mike Tyson might shit himself and run for the hills if he had to run into a burning building,or bring kids up alone,or see out a long prison sentance and stay sane.....i just think sport is the wrong place to look for the type of words we are using.
  17. Its just such a terrible description...." hard "....im just talking in the context that i think its being used in this topic. I agree its the ability to endure.....but obviously endurance is only a small part.....even if a man can endure suffering, can he overcome it.....its a little bit like gameness in a physical fight anyone can stand there and get there head beaten in that doesnt show gameness it just shows mettle and endurance......when he not just takes the beating but also tries to be the victor that for me is gameness.....hence i like the expression " a game dog always thinks he is
  18. You said " fighters are trained to be harder than most other folk in sport "....which is exactly why you cant use sports people as a guage to " being hard ".....they have to be hard, its what they do......but its just sport, they choose to be there.
  19. Ive only just learned who this person is so forgive my first impressions etc........but why would he give " roids " a bad name.....and not.....little dwarf people ?....or cuntish tattoos ? They were the first 2 obvious things that came into my head not steroids.
  20. The Millwall fan is a good shout he showed immense spirit and fortitude...im sure a massive rush of adrenaline didnt hurt either. But the others mentioned like boxers and explorers i completely disagree i dont see anything " hard " about being in positions a - of your own choosing....b - that you are being paid for....and c - that you are already good at....sport is sport.
  21. I agree its just a matter of time....similar to what you,ve seen ive noticed certain " trouble " schools in East London upon chucking out time seem to have a small element of armed plod " just passing through "....thats besides the normal day to day police in these schools. It just doesnt make sense for new recruits not to have some kind of firearms training ...society wanted a ghetto and a ghetto society has got so lets just get on with it.
  22. " Hard " in what context ? ....ive known physically tough uncompromising men that will melt into a soft little fairy crying their eyes out at a sad film and ive known mentally switched on very professional chaps who would fall apart in a physical confrontation it depends what you are booking as " hard "......hard as in tough ? fearless ? relentless ? strong ?....mentally,emotionally,physically ? A very good friend of mine did over 20 years in the shovel many of which were in solitary,he came out and lives a normal loving, balanced life....anothers mrs died and he raised both their kids fro
  23. Pre booking car park 1 on an event night is about £25 its often worth doing rather than messing about but if you prefer to travel in then it depends how extravagant you want to be the Thames Clipper stops at the 02 if you want to come in by boat, you could get the cable car over from the Royal Docks or simply park anywhere round Stratford and get the Jubilee Line to North Greenwich its 10 minutes away.... just pre book the car park if your only here for the event....traffic in and out will be ok its the Blackwall Tunnel where you,ll sit in traffic coming out.
  24. I think its great for watching old sport....beyond that i rarely look at it.
  25. I didnt know Lomachenko had lost a fight i presumed he was unbeaten.....was it unanimous or split ?....ive not heard of Salido. I agree its hard to call any fighter an all time great while they are still active and he,s only had what 15 fights.....too early in my opinion.
