Im not sure you really understand what drying out is mate....the first process to drying out is to get as much water on board as humanly possible how can you do that " at the last minute "......you are missing the point of weighing in minutes before a fight, the whole point in it is so there cannot be a " rehydrating time "......no fighter is going into the ring dehydrated so weighing in directly before a fight forces the fighter to weigh it as his best weight for physical performance.

I love my motors mate but the last car i went at with a spanner was probably something like a mark 4 Cortina i dont even bother lifting the bonnet anymore im lost with it all. All sounds good....and if it dont effect performance count me in. Are we likely to see you on Dragons Den anytime soon or are you beyond that stage.

To be fair i think he was only ever really a light middleweight.....trained round the Thomas a Beckett on the Old Kent Road a lot on the 80,s.

Do you know what cutting weight/tapering off actually entails mate, done correctly it takes precision planning you cant just pop on the scales a week out and say " oh shit im a bit heavy i think i,ll do a weight cut "...again it comes back to the art of knowing a fighters best weight one of the best i ever saw was the old trainer Denny Mancini he could just look at a lads normal walking around weight and know his best fighting weight to the pound. Even same day weigh ins like in the amateurs where you fight maybe 4 - 6 hours after weigh in still allows for plenty of rehydration, the body c

? Why dont you just admit you got all upset at my post saying theres certain things someone who has never boxed could never know, even though i said it in a polite and respectful way.....since then you,ve had a couple of half hearted prods that you hoped might register as a jab !.....stay in your own lane and you wont keep setting yourself up as a clown. When have i ever threatened you violence ?....asking someone to insult you to their face instead of from a keyboard when in the same football ground is not offering violence its how any normal lad off here who communicates genuinely would

Powerful puncher but lacked stamina.....certainly gave Hagler a run for his money ?

This is a good post i totally agree,we piss and moan about this country sometimes but when it comes to individual opportunity... few countries offer more. I have no idea what the technology is your on about but its always great to see folk fully committing to their goals and making their mark good for you.

Jobi there wouldnt be any need for rehydration because they are not cutting weight.....cutting weight for a fight is the same as a bodybuilding show.....for the few minutes you are on stage you are weak as a kitten, you are physically spent......you wouldnt last 2 minutes in a physical fight you have no glycogen storage, potassium, sodium, electrolytes etc your body is depleted of energy....no fighter is going to enter the ring in that state. As for what happens if a fighter misses weight....he loses his fight purse,simple...which then means everyone from his trainer to his nutritionist to hi

I,ll tell you what is a far worse character trait than a chatterbox shall i.....a person who says the edgiest shit they can say to get a reaction from someone and then as soon as they get that reaction they do anything possible to back the person off.....the type of person who is confrontational right up until the confrontation looks like its going to get real and then they become a poor little victim.....its weak, bordering on feeble.

Very few.....but i honestly dont see what is difficult or complicated about weighing 2 men to a certain weight limit and then have them fight at that weight.....if that is indeed what we want to do.
-
If you want to see a middleweight fight at middleweight then why are you talking about rehydrating ?.....when a fighter is using Iv's to replace fluids you can safely say there is an unnatural medical urgency, like i say mate you either want fighters at their natural athletic weights or you dont....the safety aspect helped fighters cheat the scales we cant have it all ways and no fighter is going to enter the ring dehydrated so when better to weigh them in than before a fight. You mention bulldogs and as ive always said the greatest skill a conditioner can have is being able to find a dogs

His size as it relates to boxing doesnt make him " an enigma " it makes him hard to hit, simple. " a bloke his size ".....shouldnt do well in hide and seek competitions but it doesnt make him better at it just because he,s big ?
-
Whos that ?
-
Re point C. Whats the point in a check weigh in before a fight ?.....a check weigh in is to stop a fighter rehydrating too much too quick......why not just have a weigh in before a fight, you either want fighters at their natural athletic weight or you dont. Not picking holes squire as i agree in principal ?

I can agree with that i think we all know a " Trigger " type theres no badness in it.....i actually know 2,sometimes one will get brought up in conversation and i have to say " who do you mean football Trigger or normal Trigger " ?......i think the character was great in small doses, too much time around them types can cause a certain reaction ( similar to the reaction you get from acid reflux ) and you just have to give them a wide berth for a while......the classic tell tale sign of a " Trigger " is when once you call them it they desperately rack their brains for an Only Fools and Horses cha

I,ll listen to anyone talk about boxing and i think anyone is entitled to an opinion whether they have boxed or not.....but this whole " size " thing is something a person who hasnt boxed will never really understand....they just cant envisage things like the timing of footwork or the mental emotions of fight thinking, the clarity of thinking and working things out while under the pressure of a fight and how that size/distance relates to time....its hard sometimes trying to talk with people with no experience of a fight...i guess the same as a cricketer trying to talk to me about cricket theres

The only way to get a fair fight between 2 healthy physically matched fighters is to weigh in before the fight ive been saying it years.
-
Not if they were fined their fight purse for not making weight it wouldnt.

I dont know if any of you chaps are familiar with the old bulldog man Don Mayfield but i used to listen to him talk about his shade tree in Texas he would sit under it and write his stories and think about the world, ive always told friends of mine about him and how id love to have something like that .....i have a little place in Cyprus and wasnt able to get over there for the last few years so had a few friends spending some time there....they did a nice little surprise for me by having a bench built out of the local rock under a tree high up in the mountains behind the house.....i wouldnt sa

I was having an interesting conversation with an old trainer ive known years he makes a good analogy about heavyweight boxers being chess pieces.....he puts it in a way of previous eras of heavyweights had fighters who were castles, bishops, queens etc they had different qualities ....but todays heavyweights are just pawns, they all only have 1 move. Wilder punch and nothing else. Joshua power and nothing else. Fury size and nothing else. Whereas fighters from other eras had more than 1 string to their bow.....made a lot of sense all todays heavyweights are very limited.

Cracking little read that.......i might of let my imagination get the better of me but when it got to the bit where you woke up surrounded by a bunch of boar i pictured you as Liam Neeson in the wolf scene in that film The Grey ?
-
Pretty fair assessment i thought....the lad takes a good shot but just isnt good enough at that level you cant spend 90% of a fight on the back foot and expect to win rounds unless you completely dominate opponents catching them with clean shots and Fury doesnt do that....i thought Povetkin looked old....the domestic heavyweight scene is on fire at the moment Fury needs to be getting amongst those sort of fights rather than chasing titles. As for Campbell i thought he did ok but having such a size advantage and barely winning a round can never be seen as doing well... Lomachenko is outsta

Charlie Edwards cannot make Flyweight anymore i,ll be amazed to see him fight a return....they were good shots he got caught with but shots he would be able to take if he wasnt dead at the weight....that said he was very lucky to come out of that fight without a loss.

Im embarrassed to of put my soppy picture up now ? Some breathtaking views chaps great pictures. Socks i dont know what " the sisters " is but it looks a lot like Hainault Forest hill sprints over this way... any fighter from this area is familiar with them they are proper sickeners.

Take some pics if you can mate i always think theres something special about being high up like that... almost spiritual ?.....not sure id fancy anything too drastic id draw the line at mountaineering type stuff but the peace and silence when you finally reach even a small peak like this was certainly worth the effort getting there....rewarding in a way.
