Its been known for many years Mayfield dogs were bred far too tight to the point they suffered inbred suppression and basic staleness as performance dogs.....they're still a useful tool as outcross blood but the tiny minority of people worldwide who still run them pure do so more as a " collectors piece " almost.....kind of like a car enthusiast might keep and polish an old vintage racing car in preference to a modern sports car.

Not when they're set as a family they dont....thats why they are set as a family so that the genes are predictable.....hence the reason pure family Mayfield dogs 15 generations down the line are near identical in type.

They dont breed Tosa's for gameness though ,from what im told their rules are completely different to Cajun rules and gameness isnt really necessary...........defeats the whole object of the sport to my mind.

Show me one ? Show me one modern day pure family Mayfield dog that doesnt look like a typical pure family Mayfield dog ? As for your " same family different lines " comment ....thats just nonsensical dogs are not automatically related just because they have shared heritage....if you are talking 3 or 4 generations deep then yes but we're talking about 15 odd generations( nearly 75 years ) in todays Mayfield dogs. 4 generations represents 30 individual dogs......15 generations represents around 70,000 individual dogs.....to claim that dogs are the same family just because they hav

One of the first gamebred Apbt's to arrive in Oz was the Spiderman dog,brother to Joe Montana who was well known here in Uk...was around some dogs off him years ago he was an unbelievably game dog and sired dogs sent all around Asia and the Philippines.....his owner lit the sport up over there in a similar way that Reid did with Skipper over here.

There was skullduggery and plain lies at every era of the breeds history start to finish....and im sure still is today..... bloodlines all threw up different traits and types which was always my argument for pure lines it took the lies and guesswork out.....i can look at a thousand Apbt's even today and pick out every single pure Mayfield dog for example.....at least with pure family dogs you can predict the outcomes to a degree and then you dont have these arguments i dont personally believe what Stratton is saying certainly regards Tudors old dogs going back to the Henry dogs from England...

I wouldnt demean any dog ive ever owned into making him chase a lure over an a frame while i stand counting,getting him to jump up a wall,drag a weight cart or any of the other embarrassing nonsense some grown men do in order to boost their egos....all for a poxy rosette.....i respect the bull terrier breeds far too much to do that.

Its unlikely to force the top kennels of Eastern Europe and South America to add a bit of Terrier blood to their breedings just incase really is it Probably interesting for the history buffs though and for what its worth i dont believe theres no Terrier blood involved in the Apbt....do you ?

Working lines when ? and where ?....since when did any working dog man give a shit for Kc papers ? Many of the original Irish working dogs of the 60's and 70's that were behind the more modern day strains of working/sporting Stafford were Kc dogs but none of them old boys ever bothered with paperwork because it was meaningless......id be very surprised if you could show me the pedigree of 1 ( yes just 1 ) modern day Kc registered Stafford from proven,documented working/sporting dogs ? And stop using the word " game " for crying out loud

Ive never been much of a book reader mate,for someone who was seriously into bulldogs im a little bit indifferent to their history.....i dont know is my honest answer it isnt something ive paid great attention to......Stratton was a big name in the breed if not the game itself so im sure he has sound reasoning......a basic mix of bull and terrier makes perfect sense to me regards the dogs ive seen infront of me,beyond that i dont know or much care to be honest.

Not really supplements as such,i conditioned a lot of Pit Bulls for people years ago so developed a few of my own little concoctions that i occasionally put into him he gets enough exercise to warrant it but he's never going to be stripped right down theres just no reason to peak him out....just nice as you say to keep a dog in decent clip even if just a pet.
