  1. that is my kind of bitch i have 3 of them if she was in ireland i would have been very interested
  2. nice one mate but im in Dublin it would be a bit far to travel for me but thanks alot and fair play i have already tried 4 different terriers this week and none suited me 1 good little busher but no voice 1 just wanted to fight the other dogs 1 seemed perfect until it went to ground on a rabbit and the other was a complete w,,,ker if i was'nt looking for one there would be lads asking me to take loads off them that wont go to ground so i think i have to stop looking :search:
  3. i was out bushing a couple of weeks ago with my 2 russells and my 2 whippets in a place i have worked for years but this time it all went wrong my little dog put a rabbit out of the cover and into a yard that had 5 greyhounds in it and they attacked him breaking his ribs and punchering his lungs i got him to a vet as quick as i could but he could do nothing for him but put him down so i am now stuck for going out bushing with my whippets i still have his mother a great little bushing dog but she will not sound on rabbits so i am looking for a decent little bushing terrier WITH A VOICE to take
  4. nice dog mate hope ye get many more years from him
  5. most shows are run by WORKING lurcher and terrier clubs and they usualy run a family pet class so if the dog does'nt work that should be it's class because a lot of working dogs will have the odd scar and turned up toe and will not be picked because of that where the family pet will have perfect feet and coat but give it a season in the field and see how it does in shows then in my opinion every class at a lurcher show should be for working dogs except the puppy class
  6. if the food is good enough for us it's good enough for a dog
  7. nice one lads i have always thought that i will run him till he cant any more but im sick of SOME PEOPLE telling me that i will be lucky to get this season from him just because of his age and truthfuly he has made dirt of some peoples dogs out in the feilds weather it be in the day or nightand i rather he died doing what he does rather than waisting in the pen for a couple of years
  8. i have 4 lurchers 1 is a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie good for most jobs but have 3 wheaton greyhounds with a touch of bull in the mix that i use on all game rabbit, hare, fox and deer and they would go to ground if they could fit but if not used right can be a bit hard on small quarry and they can be very strong on the slip but with a decent lead training and being tought work off the slip will give you a good all rounder in my opinion but a good collie greyhound would be right up there with them
  9. mate i'd go with a GOOD wheaton greyhound i use them and i think they are great all rounders
  10. i have an eight year old collie greyhound my first choice to bring when i go lamping he starting to slow down a bit but he is still catching plenty of game i think i will still get 2 or 3 more seasons from him and then a few more ferreting and bushing with the terriers but i'd like to know the average age most people will stop lamping and coursing their lurchers i reckon he would die younger if i stoped working him
  11. im after getting a wheaton/greyhound x bull/greyhound pup looking forward to putting some time into her she should make a good 1

  13. i have 2 wheaton greyhounds x bull greyhound lurchers 1 of them is a 3 year old bitch can be but to any game and i just got a pup of the same breeding the other night they are great all rounders but if i did'nt keep running dogs that i use to draw when working the terriers i would keep wheaton bull crosses but i would like the 3/4 wheaton 1/4 bull more so than the first cross
  14. i was at the midlands on saturday cost a small fortune but what made the weekend worth while was going to the pride of the peaks on the sunday did,nt have to wear the finest tweet made from the quenns horse's puebic hair to get the dogs any notice a much better show that seems to put a lot more into to working dogs met up with the lads that stay'ed the night there and it sounded like they had great craic my money will be on the pride of the peaks for next year ,fair play lads keep up the good work and well done to Debbie Mumford with her bitch gypsy that got overall lurcher i was glad to see b
  15. i would'nt do it by choice but alot of the land i work would be mixed of ploughted ,stubble and grass and when it's ploughed it is full of slate which is like running on glass so i avoid it when lamping but during the day if a hare or a fox rise's i have no say in the matter they could run across 5 different feild's of all sort's so all ye can do is just hope for the best but i do go through about 3 stapple guns a season
