  1. I argree with you with what you said by breeding them tight keeps them right. Hopefully you will only produce what you have already got good luck Dev
  2. Dfee / Dev nice to see you are as game as your Terriers, but I expect it from you older lads
  3. Thanks for that Dev - man just rattled my cage slightly. Also I sorry for the black dog comment, seen some excellent black dogs work.
  4. Hello ALL Long time since I have had time to look at site, however, noticed this post, interesting, please all note, Levi died some years ago, Levi has not had a working Border for over twenty five years, a certain game keeper did work them PROPERLY for a while, went to small and he lost the line and all is history, they are ruined, you cannot reincarnate what has gone, ocassionaly 1 will come through to make a fox dog, this breed has been ruined for a long long time and unfortunatly this now inferior terrier is being used, as posted, to cross with fells, lakeys etc to help ruin their bloo
  5. yes a cross not border ????lakie or pat but just border . I have herd of borders that are no good but when x with lakie are tops but you will get the odd one that will do the job I have Levi Oates strain of Border and Middleton's line of Lakies, I would never cross them myself. Both good working strains, why mess with the breed when theres no need.

  10. dont know why this thread has come up in the mid of hunting season it should be done in april/may with forefinger and thumb or a blunt knife and thumb and only remove dead hair hope this helps
  11. Thank you Peter 963, for clearing this thread up! It's a shame you didn't come onto this thread first. You can see how things can easily get out of hand with the wrong information. There seems to be alot of experienced terrier-men on this site, but also, as in all walks of life, you get a few wa.k..s. You must rise above that, and try to pick out the geniune men. I would like to add, I don't see any harm in showing a dog in the summer months, but don't take it to seriously. Work always comes first. With reference to your comment "never offered any pics of there own dogs", Unfortuneatly, not al
  12. If the dog is hard put a sounder in and carry on digging
  13. Wilko just read a few of your threads are you alright?
  14. First of all i'd like to say that the dog is cracking. However I think the problem you had was that the picture you put up was of a dog that had been stripped and his facial fur was left, GM always used to do this to make their heads look bigger (in the show season). Personally I think the dog has a good enough head without doing this. I also agree with Dev, in that if the pic was of the dog in a field with dirt on his back - you would have had a totally different reply. I also agree with you in respect that a Lakie with a rough coat doesn't look as bad as a smooth coated dog. The other poin
  15. I've heard a lot about working ability and breeding worker to worker and I agree with it completely. But i'd like to bring up a few things that I particular want in a terrier: 1) Kennelling - I would not have a terrier in my kennel that sung and barked all day. 2) Aggression - I would not keep a terrier that couldn't socialise with his kennel mates and other dogs. These points not everyone will agree with, but im sure for those who live on housing estates will. It would be nice to hear other peoples on this thread
  16. Nice to see the Borders having a go
