In my opinion and only from what i've heard over the years, they should really have been called Breay Terriers. Mr. Cyril Breay was the cornerstone of breeding this type of terrier in the Lakes. He was a very intelligent man, as his profession was a school teacher, he was very well respected in his area. He had a good knowledge of genetics and when I used to visit the Lakes in the 70's this type of terrier was always in the cross-bred section of a show. Apparentley Mr. Breay used a very old line of a small type of Staffordshire Bull - mainly black, a bit of Border and a bit of Fell. After sp

I put this thread up, so that the working Border Terrier men, could share the blood lines of their Borders, not as you think, to earn money from it. I have been contacted by some very sound lads up and down the country, who work their Borders to GROUND, they don't like to put up pics or threads on this site for this reason, only to be attacked verbally, as being in the game to make money. Also I would like to add, that Fezz has admitted that his Border has not made the grade, but if he uses good blood lines he will only strengthen the working line in his Borders to come. Hepher, you are new to

Called out on Saturday by Head-keeper, had trouble with foxes - could I help? Because it was new permission ground, I accepted right away, so at 9am Saturday morning I met a very young under-keeper, who showed me where the earths were. He had never done any terrier work before and seemed very interested. First earth we came to, my 2 Lakies were pulling hard on the lead -- a 2 holer, on the side of the bank, but lots of trees around. Put locater on my bitch - Lucy (7year old) and let her go, she found within minutes, worked the same as usual, lots of bumping, at 1.1 depth. Told the keeper it

Fordi - Firstly, the issues that you have got with Showman have got nothing to do with me or anybody else. But, I think your missing the point - if K94V has sold you those 2 pups in the pics and sold them as Border Terriers, then he has misled you. Because in my opinion Border Terriers breed true to type i.e if you ask for a pint of lager in your local and get a pint of cider - you wouldn't be happy. I believe that the black pup has got Patt in him somewhere. I have never in all of my experience (38 years) seen a black Border Terrier with papers. Its all well and good if your happy with the

I agree with what you say, did the lad have any papers with the dogs? There would be no throw backs in the Border breed if they were pedigree's - there must be Patt in there somewhere. I can't understand this site, people always kicking about the price of Border pups! I would like to know the price he paid for his pups, it would be a shame if the lad was seen off. And later will he breed the dog and sell the pups as Border Terriers?
-
you do not you do not what they are born black but after a few weeks red grizzle or blue and tan
-
nice to see Borders being work below ground
-
you do not
-
Yes, to my knowledge they were working earth dogs. Have you got a Border from this breeding, and how old is it, and is it working?

Just looking through my pedigrees, and it looks like pyrennial border terrier lines, originated from Oxcroft blood lines. Levi must have used it a fair bit 5 generations back, according to my pedigrees, and also foxwyn terrier lines he used about the same time. I'm saying Levi but, it could have been Gordon or Ray who put these blood lines in as well. Hope the information helps, let me know if you need more information.
