  1. That’s the one Mack thermite welding turns the night into day it’s a big firework in a pot basically that pours into a mould hard dirty heavy work and as you say permanent nights as it rarely gets done on days.
  2. Oh and back to the thread here’s a view from my office taken 1 minute ago ?
  3. Stopping weekend work will never stop they are scrapping the operative role for dedicated disciplines like trackman off track ect and making it one role across all disciplines and renaming them technicians who will be required to work any where diluting there speciality basically, also scrapping the OHL supervisors role I believe amongst loads of other ideas, add this to the fact we haven’t had a pay rise since 2020 some grades 2019 were all getting pissed off with being taken advantage of not one day did I take off during the pandemic colleagues were building the Nightingale hospitals big pra
  4. Maintenance boys are getting hammered mate it’s too complicated to go on about on here but going forward it will jeopardise safety, even though I’m in operations now my heart will always be in the Pway where I started I’ve never forgotten those lads and I’ve still got good relations with them now they love seeing my face when it all goes tits up lol, we’ve all got to stick together and we will achieve the right outcome.
  5. Ahh I remember those days on maintenance the long push back to the access with all the welding gear but on a positive we used to fry sausages in a pan and use the weld slag buried in the ballast to cook them, good pic I see that as well this morning just as I was leaving bloody unsociable hours most of the time hope the public remembers that when we go into dispute shortly, I won’t hold my breath.
  6. Sounds good the bark and the soft meat both definitely have their merits my lad done a long cook with a neck of pork rather than a shoulder and it was really nice fell apart he’s got a traditional custom made smoker bit different to what we use, and as you say time I’m sitting here now waiting to start a 12 hour shift at 5 o’clock it just kills your enthusiasm.
  7. Looks and I bet tasted outrageous mate and look at that little onion ring just hanging off the side saying look at me lol ?

They will be worth their weight in gold this winter and also watch builders bags of logs prices go through the roof.
  13. Sitting on my arse Ben I pull the strap tight towards me which makes it more rigid and shoot.
  14. Same here for Harris I’ve owned mine for years as good as the day I bought it I’ve got the big one one 13.5 - 27 it’s quite versatile a little high on lowest setting but you just adjust your shoulder body ect highest setting you can sit comfortable and shoot, a little while ago there was a thread on here about shooting sticks which aroused my interest as I’m not getting any younger laying on the floor getting up and down is getting harder, so I bought some I’ve used them once what a faff the aim of the game is stealth whilst fannying around with sticks I’d never get a shot off.
  15. Well that’s done & dusted went into polling booth Labour Conservatives Liberals I don’t think so scrubbed them all out and capital letters Reform UK across it f**k em made me feel better.
  16. Wages & Bets mate you won’t go far wrong ?
  17. No choice apart from the normal suspects around here so rather than not vote I’m going down and writing Reform UK diagonally right across the ballot paper.
  18. My youngest son done a four year apprenticeship in an aircraft company they encouraged him to take on extra maths which he took on and done well at, this then opened the door for the company to send him on an all paid for degree in design engineering in the aerospace industry, he passed that and got a first class degree I’ve seen the calculations on paper and they look like gobbledygook, but maths is central to most good careers and I can only encourage youngsters to learn as much as possible.
  19. Be prepared to embrace fatness mate ? nice plate of grub ?
  20. The thing with us British is it takes a lot to get us excited I’ve met many Canadian and Americans and they do seem an excitable bunch good luck to them on there positive mind set, But being like we are is quite funny you meet a complete British stranger less than a minute your talking about shit weather it’s great ? we’ve just got a totally different sense of humour and a lot of foreigners just don’t get it.
  21. push my hand in the birthday cake ! your not well mate ????
  22. Spot on Charts he has some very interesting guests who you probably wouldn’t hear of or see if not given the opportunity by Nigel I also like it when he gets out and about to the working mens clubs he was also at a Navy association in Southend on Sea the other week.
  23. It’s our go to news as well we never have the BBC or Sky on at all, there is a leftie old woman who sits regularly on Dewb’s panel I could throttle her but I suppose you’ve got to have the balance otherwise there would be no debate or argument it will only improve its also a good platform for Nigel to get himself across.
  24. I like GB News Dewbs & Dan Wooton are good but I will say one thing they should have sacked the sound man ages ago atrocious standard of work ?
