  2. cracking pics again thanks for posting! never seen a great white but seen a lot of little's down in devon on the exe and axe estuary's when we moved back up north we were out on the marsh/estuary and every one was really excited about the littles and i was just nonchalant about them then they said about their rarity up here, should never take things for granted !
  3. cheers tc ,you gave me some advice on kelsae onions a while back ,they are doing JUST fine in 3" bag pots at the moment in the GH when do you plant yours out ? not looking for show just like the taste"
  4. cracking day weather wise today pleasure to be out "shirt sleeves at last ,potted on the peppers ,celery and broad beans this morning and put the framework up over the brassica beds for the netting ,its starting to look like a veg garden again!
  5. jok out of likes again sounds good ,when we were down devon some allotmenteers used waste wool from axminster carpets . i heard that carrots dont like new ish manure thats why i asked about how long before planting , fortunately no shortage of manure about very close ,its just a matter of the time delay in planting carrots ,the beds are generally coming on ok ,guess we always want things sooner
  6. out of likes for the above, so well done and thanks for updating
  7. smoked venison ,thats my main reason for building one
  8. nice job that ! im going to build a smoker this year ,i had an idea but i think i will alter it now ive seen yours ,i like how you have done the smoke chamber as part of it , i was going to link them with a pipe ,but think i will just put the smoke generator in a separate bottle attached
  9. nah just the snips ,i dont do carrots at the moment ,we are just building the depth up in the beds, only have the one deep enough at the moment and carrots are not on the list for that one ! out of curiosity how long after filling beds with manure "decent stuff" would you attempt growing carrots in it ? as to get some organic matter in to start building the depth we filled some up BACK END 2014 . we started with a patch of concrete that we dug up to turn into a veg patch when we moved in in 2013 so it an on going project !
  10. i tried the germinating parsnips in the GH the last couple of years and struggled a lot ! this year out side in drills "no problem " so hopefully lesson learnt ! im not over keen on celery but OH is ,i sown a few seeds a while back and they are through now "inside " cant think of the name off hand but these are self blanchinig supposedly and dont need earthing up so we will see . last night wasnt to bad but saturday night/sunday morning was ! spuds not through yet and i covered the parsnips up with fleece other than that just the onions shallots and garlic in,things seem ok so far ,but c

  19. looks like frost the next couple of nights, so covered some of thew beds up with fleece
  20. i used to shoot them regular to bait for a keeper mostly over the winter though ! i used to get an empty dog food bag and fill it with deer guts and anything else i could get and put a wire cable through it and freeze it then wrap it in a deer skin and stake it down ,it would last a week + sometimes ! ,very effective during the winter ,ive also shot them in the past to sheep carcasses when it ok to leave fallen stock
  21. thanks ,yes the trophy is a bayliner 22 wa "walk around " great boat very stable ,very comfortable to fish from but ideally could have done with a bit more power ! it did about 25kn and cruised at about 19-20kn with the 115 ficht but the engine was to good to let go with the tremlett and the bayliner came as a bare boat "it was an import from the us, a bank repossession i think as the trailer was a us one and not strictly uk legal though was nice to tow and launch off !there was a company importing various sports fishing boats locally that i got it from"
