  1. moll go to the library and see if they have a birdsong dvd.
  2. so there is no point in breeding to improve your stock. becouse if it needs improving it aint worth breeding off.. i hear what folk are saying. and agree with most of it. but have to state the obvious. THE DOGS OF A VERY HIGH STANDARD WHERE NOT BORN THAT WAY. THEY WHERE CREATED BY CAREFULLY BREEDING TO IMPROVE ON WHAT WENT BEFORE. . THEREFORE IF YOU DO THIS RIGHT THE STOCK YOU HAVE NOW SHOULD BE BETTER . MAKEING THE ORIGINAL STOCK INFERIOR TO THEM. THAT WOULD MAKE THE ORIGINAL STOCK NOT WORTH BREEDING OFF. UNLESS I'M MISSING A POINT not only single animals can be improved. but
  3. ive never seen or heard of anyone doing that around here feckin disgracefull.
  4. be good to see you again. will look forward to it.
  5. late sixties early seventies for me .
  6. some crackers especially from a compact as for the other birds. shame on you you could have got one sneeky shot
  7. Lets be honest. nine times out of ten. someone with years of experience will know a working dog and owner. just as they can spot a messer. at fifty paces. and there is no exuse for a non working terrier winning an entered class. although to be honest i dont see a need for an entered class. that should be covered with the veteran terriers thats where the proper old warriors should apear. and form can be put to the side to give such terriers a little limelight. and the biggest trophy in the show. maybe this will encourage folk to use these dogs. a little more. the vetran class is usually ver
  8. the rat should have been despatched as soon as poss then the young dog could play with it. As a ps. i wouldnt write a dog off on that display. my presant lurcher did similar. at around six months. at nine months he was a totally different dog at twelve months . well worth his keep. . the collar has to be a wind up  . and looks feckin dangerous., IF FOLK WRITE OFF A DOG ON A TWO MINUTE VID. THEN GOD ONLY KNOWS HOW MANY GOOD DOGS GET WASTED

  10. she has her work cut out for her. good luck with your pups.
  11. i was born in leyland. the morris dancers remind me of my childhood as does the bus. may day was magical when your a young un the dancers used to dance around a may pole with ribbons and there was everything from the old steam engines. to the old cars and busses. used to look forward to it.
  12. i'm with you on the crossbreds. year in year out you see lakies walking away with the prizes. whilst some cracking little crossbreds dont get a look in ' in there own class.
  13. i judged a few shows when i was younger and your right in saying your no expert. if you think you can tell workers from non workers at a dog show. you cant judge a dog on its working ability in a ring. at the end of the day its the word at the end of the sentence that counts (show). and if its for charity get your dog in and give your support. and bear in mind that the important thing is that your walking out the gates with a worker. and you dont need a judge to tell you how good it is
  14. with the upmost respect to the poor souls that have died. legal law abideing citizens giving up shooting wont stop these tragedies happening. i honestly dont think you can legislate against this. sort of thing. a very sad affair and my thoughts are with there families
  15. Sadly she did not take and that will be Rip's last chance..his tri colour grand son is a decent dog though..and i'm sure it won't be firing blank's.. sorry to hear that . there are less and less tried and tested older terriers about that can bring some good older lines to the front. ah well at least the old boy got a last chance to get his leg over
  16. its great to talk about working plummers. and there are a few of them about. but few of them if any are from a long line of workers. so even if you go worker to worker the stock will be inconsisent. there are many good terriers in plummer history. dogs that worked well. but very few are at the front of the pedigree. its the dogs that are on the ground right now that are the future. if people are keen to improve this breed as a worker the best way forward is to get decent unbroken working stock over there bitches. this would mean outcrossing to a dog that has years of work behind it. and is bre
  17. some good pics. but i like the last one best
