i spent most of my life sourcing ground. and checking it for earths. going from earth to earth . farm to farm. allways working against the clock add to that you needed the right dogs to get the job done often before you where loseing light. its a habit that is hard to break. giving up fags is easier. lol -

ifirstly i agree that the whippet has made a massive comeback. and not before time. however not as a pure or hybred. imo the whippet is being used to bring down the size of the lurcher and to tidy up some of the more bulky types. whippets and the whippet crosses have a passionate following. despite being frail. shivery accident prone little things. the thing with lurchers is everytime someone crosses two breeds they tend to break all the rules. and the offspring get different qualities that dont exist in the parents. the above lurcher is half bred whippet turns like a b

poxon i run this dog on ground that will put your average running dog on crutches. he is worked on all ground. including tips. railways. industrial estates. as well as the more normal ground. he can work on baked hard ground and frosted ground. he works all weather he has not had a week on the sick in seven years he has been hit by a car and was working the next day. i would have gone through a few whippets by now if i tried to work them the same. not knocking them like i say different dogs

i agree with your point but in practice y6u cant fart in the countryside around me. local boys had an armed responce unit at them not long ago . they was out shooting rabbits with an air rifle. i have been pulled up numerous times . when out legitimately. i used hunting to keep me out of trouble when i was younger. now it will drop you in it . na i'd rather see em playin golf snooker or five a sides . i'll get out and about. and thatll do me -
after the recent thread got locked i have been mulling over the future for working terriers. in the uk. and the issue of the quality of the future terriers. i dont work my dogs to ground the same now and have changed my whole aproach. i keep mostly baying dogs and use them above ground more often than not. i am an admirer of the working terrier in all its forms and feel there is still a future for working terriers . working them within the constraints of the law. the british isles has a record of producing top quality working dogs that is world renowned. but due to the new laws and the
