  2. a morning culling the smellies. We had 12 in 15 minutes. We blocked the gap and they couldnt get back up the hill, well that was untill they decided theyd trample my mate and he dived out of the way just in time :laughbounce2: there were over 60 in the herd. Thankfully the landowner was happy to help load them into the van. Some smell in the van for about a week.No matter how much I sprayed or washed it ,it just stank. The wife and kids were geting the bus for a bit.
  3. I kept a load of bullx's years ago and the one bit of advice Id say is pick the smaller of the bitches,I found the dog pups were usually that bit too big. When the pups come on the big side they come really strong and have limited use in certain earths. The next problem would be dog agression, but saying that ours were relatively ok around other dogs.We did have a few that were not worth the hassle as all they wanted was to rip apart anything that got close enough. This was back in the early 80s and we had little interaction with other terrier folk so we had to try and create our own workers.

  13. Only when Im trying it on in bed with her,LIAM Anyone thats at this game should be well capable of handeling their quarry at the end of a dig,but saying that, the tongs must have been handy to have just in case it was needed.

  16. Jaysus your well liked on here, pay attention now here,THIS IS KARMA.........YOU DO BAD YOU GET BAD.

  17. That was my point too,he did the right thing for an ungratefull cow,so when a decent person looses something of value,he/she is going to suffer because of the actions of her. This does not justify your fathers actions,it makes him dishonest. If he continues to do the right thing he can look in the mirror and be proud of himself.A lot of people on here with low morals it seems.Such a pity.
  18. Neil you have to differnciate between a strong dog and a game dog.A strong dog was used for the purpose of working in the field,wheatens/glens/kerry blues(I just threw them in for the laugh )were never meant for anything else than field work/farm work/vermin destruction.I would not consider using a lurcher at the end of a dig UNLESS the quarry were to be killed, the damage they do to the quarry is extensive and since we let everything we dig run on unless requested to do so we dont have use for such a dog.I did have one many years ago but decided it was not for me.What the hell is messy with a
  19. No Jigsaw the owners of strongdogs were just that, the owners of strongdogs. Anyone who keeps strongdogs and thinks that the end of a dig is the way to work them is fooling themselves. If a strongdog is needed practicaly at the end of a dig then you must question how good is the terrier you've just dug to. Think about it ? What was a tongs for ? It was for holding an animal at the end of a dig so that the handler wouldn't be bitten. Simple as that. There's no other answer. Use a terrier that gets you close to your quarry and learn how to handle it. No dissrespect to any old timer, they kne
  20. over the years ive met many a man that used tongs and none of them were COWARDS,they know more about dogs and working them than most.Neil I find that statement of yours rather silly and condesending.you obviously have a very high opinion of yourself..These proper dog men could handle any quarry with their hands.Tongs I was told could remove the quarry cleanly and quickly and with little harm to it.What about the people long ago that kept draw dogs,wheatens/staffs etc, these were equivilent to a tongs. The difference being you didnt have to feed, walk or clean after the metal ones.I suppose the ow
  21. Well at least everyone knows now who NOT to deal with,POPPY1.Don no doubt yur paths will cross again. MLB at least the pup ended up in a good home whch is the important thing.
  22. Topics like this are very usefull, you can clearly see those who have that streak of dishonesty in them, thankfully a minority so far.I found a phone on the road a few years back.I rang a persons no.on it and they put the owner onto me as his no.came up when I rang them.I ended up driving 5 miles to meet the bloke and I hardly got a thank you from him.I dont regret it one bit and the way I look at it that was his problem being an ignorant cnut,.I too am skint badly at the moment but I wouldnt consider for a moment keeping the wallet, you'll have no luck whatsoever if ye do.As said before by most
  23. Give the f****n thing back, why would you even need to ask. Some bloke out there pissed off and you dont know his circumstances,he may be in need of his cash back.I couldnt look at meself in the mirror if I kept it.Do the right thing, you know you want to.

  25. Paddy rings his new girlfriend's door bell, with a big bunch of flowers. She opens the door, sees the flowers, and drags him in. She lies back on the couch, pulls her skirt up, rips her knickers off and says 'This is for the flowers!' 'Don't be silly,' says Paddy, 'You must have a vase somewhere!'
