  2. Perhaps I should have? Well at least I should have painted in blood two lines under hi eyes (pass the big wooded spoon please ) On a new permission I always taste the blood of the first kill, something in that old tradition I think, but maybe thats just me? Tony
  3. Thank you gentlemen, I'm only doing what others on here, have done for me Chris; it's my pleasure Also Chris is already passing his aquired and practiced knowladge onto the next generation of shooter (his young son) Cheers Si, I'm really looking forward to meeting up again T minus 12 day's and counting! Tony
  4. Lucky bugger Arch, I pass squizzers every time I head to my perms, but only ever seen the one within my boundries! Sooooo tempted...... But I shall resist! Tony
  5. Wow, looks like you were pretty close to the Deer I love them, live or on the plate When Woodworm and I went out the other day, I saw a black Kit, had a few of them over the last years and I have one of his uncles in salt at the moment waiting for me to process. Good little read that and thanks for putting in the time for us Tony
  6. Thank you Sir, We will and I intend to, but I'm not that confidant this year as I've not had enough shooting to get my eye in properly this year! Tony
  7. Chuffing hell Mr-T, No tent's? Half the fun of the meet is kipping under canvas I'll find somewhere unless there are seperate rooms, you know how much these nasal polyps make me snore! I dont want to ge getting the blame for no one being able to sleep There nust be a little patch of grass out there for a tent or two. Tony
  8. Welcome to the forum, nice to see the next generation taking an interest Tony
  9. Interesting, you got the math correct, Nice one. But as for the energy needed for the rabbit, the general consensus is that it's less than 6. I have put down rabbits (brain shot) with as little as my HW70, thats putting out less than 1 ft/lbs. Used to take it with me to finish off woundings until I was taught how to neck them properly The boffins in the white coat's claimed 0.4 ft/lbs is enough energy to shut down the brain on a bunny. May be a good idea to change font colour for something a little more contrasty as well I had to strain to read the text. Tony
  10. It would be a fairly quiet section in here if we didn't. Whats the school project about? Tony
  11. Sounds like a little piece of bunny boppin heaven Tony
  12. Cheers Steve, I've shot hundreds of the bloody things and most just drop, I was quite taken aback when it started flapping even with it's head on the deck limp! Normally when I stretch the neck it usually removes the head totally, this one, I stopped short and now it looks like a cross with a Swan Well my bunnies from t'other day are going to be cooked later along with the two young uns, the Woody will join some of it's brethren in the fridge and be cooked on Sunday Woody woody yumyum I need sleep, g'night
  13. Love your one liners Tony
  14. Popped down to the Perms with Woodworm1972, heres how it went Chris AKA Woodworm arrived a little earlier than expected today (traffic must have been good to him) which given the superb weather was a good thing as we got more time in the field. First stop was to Sainsburies to get some crisps for a snack whille we were out, noticed that 4x1 pint cans of Stella were £3.70 I figured I'd get 8 for later. Then we whipped through the masses of trafic down Great Gutter Lane and straight to the Cemetery. Upon entering I placed my on the gates and we were about to start our zero check when
  15. I would suggest the timber yard, you need a tight grain hardwood not your everage Red/White wood. The timber yard will be the cheapest and if they haven't got it there they will get it for you already dried. Tony
  16. Skot, If you have the original Combro, you can recalibrate it to it's original factory settings by removing batteries. If you have a mk3 or 4, you can adjust the calibration to match any other that you feel is more accurate, ie have it done at the gunshop or police FAR. If the Combro does not match the other, you can alter it so that it does. Useful Then every shot that is fired should match up with the other chrono. To check, put on your combro and pell details or just have it set to FPS then fire it through the larger chrono so you get both sets of readings for one shot Tony
  17. Yeah, or you may be able to download it from your Police Force website. There is in England, Scotland and Wales a fee involved as well. You may be able to book an appointment with the FEO (firearms enforcement officer) or the equivalent over there, who will explain all thats involved, it could be (force dependant) a few weeks or a couple of months. Tony
  18. Local Police station if they'll let you have one. Gun safe, doctors reports, mischief in your past, you cant just go and ask for one over the counter. FAC is a FireArms Certificate. Tony
  19. You going all "Multicultural" on us old bean?
  20. Mike, you are correct about them retaining the heat for hours But who's going to wait for hours after school/college in order to bung in a piece of wood? Even at 100'C (complicated bit here) the wood, would not survive as the heat would steam the wood and feck it up big time To dry wood correctly in a kiln, takes days or weeks (depending on type of wood) at a constant heat in order to minimise drying time Tony
  21. Mine is a Combro Skot Just had it rebuilt and recalibrated after a slight accident with a pistol turned the thing into an expensive 3D Jigsaw puzzle I trust it The only thing I don't trust is the serial cable, but only because I don't have a standard serial connector on my laptop, so I have to run it through a Serial to USB converter and somewhere in the software driver for the converter, the readings on the comp are different to the ones on the display. I went out last night into the cemetery for the night. Because I'm using the Crosmans now instead of the FX, I printed the traje
  22. First and formost, Welcome aboard. Secondly as Mike said FAC is a must over your part of the world unfortunately even for a sub12 Gaining permission is usually pretty hard, approach as many farmers, land owners, riding centres, hotels the list is endless, if its got grass and bunnies, find out who's responsible for the land and drop em a line, DavyT63 put up some decent and tweakable (for your own details etc) letters and perm slips, a quick search and you'll find them on the forum Shooting insurance is pretty much a deffinate requirement (demonstrates a good level of responsibility
