  1. Recently I turned my little Combro into a rather expensive 3D jigsaw puzzle  I created this puzzle whilst chrongraphing my HW40, the unit can not be fitted to the end of the said pistol so I had to hold the unit against the muzzle to do so. All was going well until I pressed the trigger on the fourth shot and for some reason or other moved at the moment of discharge! Lucky for me my fingers although stinging from the transfer of energy into the front of the unit they remained well out of the pellets path After finding all the bit's I reassembled the jigsaw and held it all together
  2. Hiya Si, Chris and I should be there on the Friday Evening (I can't wait) Tony
  3. Laura may be still a beginner, but she has a naturally steady aim, a natural talent for shooting and of course a great master for a teacher Tony
  4. Hi Lawrence, It is unlikely that any 'Standard PCP' can come close to putting out anywhere near the powere of a .22LR. When I found out the power of my BSA Ultra I asked a friend of mine over in the states to chrono his small revolver (.22 short). His little revolver was putting out 60ft/lbs so a .22LR would be much higher than that. Of course some FAC Air are designed to put out that sort of energy, You will find though, that even the heaviest of standard pellets will not be too accurate at that energy and you would then have to go down the route of "Air Bullets" As to how big a pr
  5. Been checking, the general consensus is that the barrel must me at least 300mm to be classed as a rifle and the overall length must be a minimum of 600mm
  6. Well Sir, thats what most of us are here for Make sure you take Simon (Zini) up on his offer, he will teach you more than you can imagine Tony
  7. short bullpup russian made ? Yes that's the Matador I'd love one myself, but not sure if they are available sub12 or not, also not sure if they make the legal length of a rifle in the UK. There is a minimum legal length in this country, not sure if its 28inches or 32? If it is smaller, then it becomes a pistol and to make that legal it needs to have no more than 6ft/lbs M.E. Tony
  8. Stick with the small farm for a while Once the farmer is happy with you, you can ask him if he would be happy to be provide a referance for you (if he's not already reccomending you). Then inform perspective L.O's that you have been working for Mr.X and he/she/they will happily provide a referance The ref must be genuine The church council quickly followed up my referance with the secretary of the local FTC (Field Target Club) to make sure I was a competent shooter. Tony
  9. When yoy say Ed-guns, are you talking about "Ed's Matadore"? on the "Edgun" YouTube Chanel AKA "Ted's Holdover"? Tony
  10. That Sir is like asking "How long is a piece of string" Got my 2 paddock permissions using an informal chat with someone, Got two permissions after a woman approached me (deffo the easiest) yet my main perm, took over 6 months of patience waiting for a reply from the church after a simple email Word of mouth seems to be the best way One person speaking to another is far superior than trying to convince a single person. My main perm was the result of an enquiry to the Arch Deacon of York. Aim for the Stars and be happy when you hit the moon Tony
  11. I got mine "Unbranded" from the factory in China a few years ago Cost me £69 quid then but I have no idea how much they cost nowadays, think the GunTuff is about the smallest these day's at around the price I paid for my big ol'e lump. Tony
  12. Rangefinders are a great help, as long as you can see the display! Mine is spot on, alas it doesn't have an illuninated display so at ight its very limited. Tony
  13. Well Lurchers are good for some forms of hunting; as are Jack Russle dogs Or you could do both, not like you can slip a lurcher on a Pidgeon! Or a Crow, Rook, Magpie, Jay etc.... :not worthy: Cracking offer mate, make sure you take him up on it!! Make sure you do , Si has forgotten more about ballistics and hunting than most of us will ever learn Si taught me how to calibrate my scope for ranges and Muzzle Energy specific to my rifle, scope and pellet combination in a matter of minutes than what I had learned in over 5 years as a 'lone hunter' :not worthy:

  16. Practice until you can put 9 out of ten shots in a one inch group at all the ranges you will be shooting Now LAMPING is just the same as shooting in the daylight hours UNFORTUNATEY your eyes and brain tell you things are different Getting used to distances under the lamp is very hard at first and go for a month or two without doing it and you need to learn it all again!!! I had tremendous difficulty when I first started lamping depending on your brain, things will be either closer or (More likely) further away than you think. I have made some markers (out of those plantpot

  19. Darn right Craig, The RFD who tested my Ultra said it was 11.76, when the police tested it it was 13.04 No way will I allow any of my rifles to run closer than 11.00 ft/lbs with Bisley Magnums. Just not worth the record Tony
