  1. You can just picture someone stumbling across this site and scrolling down looking for info on hunting and coming across a bunch of wankers. As for choking the bishop I don't do it. It can make you go blind....so I am told
  2. So how do you work out if you have an average dog......I have never owned a half hearted dog but to someone else they might think it's shit. What kind of benchmark do you use to judge your dog....this is one of those things were everyone will have differing opinions. And if we start from the premis that not everyone can have the best dog and they all can't be world beaters then there has to be a dumbing down to some degree.
  3. Always kept diaries ever since I've had dogs....the most reds I ever took in one season was a 100. Not all single handed and not always on the lamp. Tend to average 60 - 70 a season. Rabbits most in a season was 250. Hares were never high on the agenda only managed a few a season same with deer. The one thing I do know that when you hit hot spots on red they never lasted long and they tune into the lamp quickly. Never lamped from a van so can't comment on what difference that would make. It does sound exaggerated as taking that amount regularly would deff put a dent in any fox popul
  4. A lot of problems are caused by folk buying in adult dogs and hoping that it will turn out a good one. Then there are the folk who get a pup and are in too much of a hurry to run different game. Everything has to happen right away....I've read posts of folk having moved dogs on at 9 -17mnths ffs It takes time and effort to get a dog to a good standard. Posts like this don't help they feed into kids beliefs that if the dog don't do it the first couple of times it's shit. If you take your time and get to really know your dog it's capabilities more often than not you'll end up with a useful

  7. Just one of those moments Bill wasn't planned. The roe came over the hill about 70yrds in front of me paused for a moment or two then bounced off back into the wood. The dog appeared 5mins later.

  9. That's a load of piss...don't let the dog piss in the garden if it's that bad
  10. Always had bitches.....just a preference I think personally they mature quicker than dogs (just like us) and are generally less hassle

  18. MHowever I would say, you may be brave enough to slag off the Larky men, but would you do it face to face? They are a wild wild bunch! I think they would welcome you with open arms!!! Not a nice place folks, stay away!!! In fact most of "Buckfast Triangle" is a deadly zone......Airdrie, Hamilton, Larkhall, Motherwell, Coatbridge, Carfin, Newmains, the list is endless![/ Don't get defensive mate it's only a bit of banter and for being welcomed with open arms... It's not they're arms I'm worried about. But for the record the next time I'm in larky I"ll make sure I say hello to some of m
