  1. We have a tendency to blame young folk for the problems around respecting or lack of it but the rot set in Many years ago before the ban. To many things took for granted and as we all know good things come to an end. Breeders are only a small part of the problem. This whole thing started out as a class thing. That c**t Watson who introduced the bill up here was clear he was after the hunters in red jackets....the fallout from this was it affected the ordinary man in the street with his dog. The irony is the hunt packs have been smart enough to work around it while the ordinary hunter f
  2. The damage is already done mate I don't really see a way back unless the gov have a complete change of heart
  3. The thing that gets me is that places I walked freely at one time are now closed to me. As soon as a lamp goes on they're on the phone and there's a chopper in the air

  6. I took more than my share with terriers and lurchers day and night undi,i understand foxes very well thanks. Maybe you do but it didn't come across that way in your post I just get a bit fed up with muppets who shouldnt even have a dog making life hard for the rest of us I think daytime terriers and lurchers takes some beating sport wise, foxes arent allways straight forward in the lamp granted, but its easier than doing it in daylight in my opinion. Fair play!
  7. was out the other night just as it was getting dark. Not hunting just out with the camera and the dog. Now the area i live in runs adjacent and old estate. Up till about. 15yr ago it was teaming with game. There were grey partridge lapwings all sorts of aquatic life and more rabbits and hares than you could shake a stick at. Fast forward to present day no partridge, hares and most of the habatat has gone. The old coal bings were flattened, ponds were drained and many of the farmers have sold their land to developers and moved on....sign of the times i guess. This estate ran all the

  10. so when your struggling to get a slip and coaxing and using skill how is that testing for the dog you just said it the hardest part is getting the slip and the dog has no control over that The skill was in presenting the dog with at least an even chance of making contact with its quarry not just hoping for the best. The test was for the dog to make the most of the opportunity. Its all irrelivant now anyway unless you live in ireland or abroad.
  11. It might not be rocket science but there was a lot more to foxing that point and slip. Not everyone had dog that could do the job. No skill involved? Nonsense not every fox came into the call some were lamp shy and took a great deal of coaxing or skill to get close enough for a slip. What about the nights with no wind. Theres an art to doing things the right way as there is with any kind of hunting
  12. You beat me to it mate ... Green was out before he hit the floor great combo from Suger Ray
  13. Have a wee read through the utter shite you have posted today, in fact look through your posts since you started. Then come back and tell me you aint a c**t. Unless I have grossly misjudged you and you are infact an upstanding member of the community. FTB Nope he is a c**t
  14. A canny fox was a test for any dog agility and speed wise. They could make the fastest dog look stupid. I do agree it should be no contest weight wise but a lot of dog didn't like the sharp end.... Yes there's plenty of ways to test a dog but don't underestimate what a test a fox was back in the day.
  15. Fukin jeeeeeeedwarddddddd hate them they're not the full shilling
  16. Put a long slip on the dog sneak up on a cow and tie the other end to it's tail hit coo on the arse with a jaggy stick and stand back
  17. Agree with some of the above but could never bring myself to cull a healthy litter if that makes me soft I can live with that. In an ideal world it would be great to be able to run a litter on to see which are the good ones. I disagree with your statement about getting the dog that no one else wanted. Pups change so much as they're growing that it's nigh impossible to predict how it will turn out. So the one that nobody fancied has as much chance of making the grade as it's litter mates. In most circumstances you takes your choice and put the work in and hopefully you come out with a wel
  18. You need to tidy that garden ........i don't know what surprised me the most , women working their dogs or FTB describing himself as middle class
