    Nice one, my old bitch was handy at finding partridge chicks and retreiving live to hand. Used to train her to fetch hens eggs.

    No idea how dog shows work but surely if a show is billed as ''working '' then things like chipped or missing teeth are taken into account If its supposed to be a 'working' terrier show, then scars or missing teeth etc.. should not count against the terrier. It annoys me to see showy terriers win over good workers Yeah know what you mean,but there can only be one winner and after all its supposed to be a bit of fun. But I feel more recognition should be given to working dogs...lurchers as well as terriers after all looks dont kill.

    My point about seperate classes for workers and showers was more of a discussion point. You hear comments all the time all the time standing at the ring. Of course this could be sour grapes but this might stop criticism of judges who after all are only offering their opinion. The show I was referring to was at the Stirling game fair the other week so you might be right. I've heard a lot of good things about the neilston show. Got my two Jacks from guys out there. I was hoping to get to this years event but had other commitments maybe next year.

    What a peach!! Lurchers ARE mongrels. Just like the Labradoodle! I think you will find most folks mongrels on here are far from useless. Bred to do a job. Dogs breeding was originally 'altered' to allow them to do a specific job. And very few could now do that job they were bred for. Even the pure breeds - from whippies to cockers. The difference between working dogs and show dogs is huge. Working cocker types would be laughed out of a show ring, just as show cockers would never make the grade out in the field.     I've always found you should prepare for any eventuality so, spare bulb, fuse, multi-tool and tape that should be all the luck you need.

    Just wondering what folks views are on these types of shows. One of the biggest gripes is that dogs that win in these shows are for showing only and dont have a mark on them. My mate was criticised by a judge because his terrier was missing some teeth through the scraps he's had. Maybe having two seperate classes would see some of these dogs get the recognition they deserve and stop some of the criticisms of Judges etc! what are people's experiences?

    Lamping a local golf course came across a couple hard at it...he deff had a hole in one but when 3 lamps hit them there faces were a picture!

    You might want to either go out a bit later or stay longer, foxes will travel many miles in the course of a night and tend to use more or less the same paths. Baiting can work I use a fox call I bought from Arthur Carter and it's never let me down. Some other things you might want to consider, doe's anyone else lamp your ground? do you keep downwind. I would basically try a number of different calls and see how it goe's from there.

    sounds like she's had a mild concussion, maybe banged into your terrier or something when she's been running...same thing happend to my bitch after chasing a rabbit, she became very sluggish about 15mins or so after the chase and had to be lifted back to the car but she recovered on the way home.

    If your feeding solely dry food chudley's greyhound racer is good...or doctor johns chicken and rice mix is a cheaper alternative. The best is raw rabbit, fur and all dogs are great on flesh diet.
