Went to the farm i got last week for a bit of ferreting,picked me dad up about 6.15am,10mins later we was watching rabbits running into their warrens.First warren had about 9 holes,so what we did was as we was doing the whole hedge we purse netted all the way down it,in case any rabbits escaped they would be backnetted else where(I forgot the longnets ).So nets down,ferrets in and waited less then 1 min a rabbit hits the net,in less then 10 mins we had five rabbits out of this warren .Onto the next warren ferrets in and waited,suddenly double WHOOSH and two rabbits hit the nets at the same ti

  3. First things first its MR TEAPOT Second the rifle is a AIRARMS S410 the best rifle in the world . Third the bipod is a harris one the smallest i can not remember the size 5"-9"i think,it is great can not fault it one bit,ideal for laying down low in the grass. Thanks for the replies folks.

  5. All four of them where bucks managed to skin 3 and put in the freezer for dinner later this week.The other one was as tough as boot leather,so after a lot of huffing and puffing and a hernia later i chucked into the ferrets . Nice shot as you say all head shot the way i like it
  6. It does look easy ferreting but the field is full of these things and they just follow you round,don't think i will put the longnets out .This one was placid but a few had a bit of a temper,running at you then stopping farmer said they was just showing off put the sh1ts up me anyway .
  7. Your right andy got a bit now to keep me going .Had to take me shooting insurance down to show the farmer and he has giving me the go a head to shoot on all the land he owns . I know what you mean about the weather,went ferreting sunday and the wind kept blowing leaves and crap into the nets,managed 1 rabbit gave up as a bad job in the end,took the rifle instead.   8. Got some new permission today,shot these while driving round with the farmer. I have put a post up in the ferreting section about the permish,so feel free to browse .
  9. Went for a walk round my new permish to get the lay of the land,see where the burrows are and that. Saw a guy in the next field feeding some cows,got talking to him and he said you are welcome to come on my land anytime .I said can you show me whats yours and where your boundries are.So he jump in his motor,i said just let me put the airifle in my car,farmer said bring it with you we might see something .Did NOT need asking twice So driving round the fields which was all pasture land,it was plain to see there was a few rabbits about.Managed to drop 4 with the airarms which the farmer was p

It is that STEALTHY1 only down side is there is a farm dog there,it as got to be the dog of satan,i pulled up in the car and it dived at the window showing its teeth and snarling,so i sat waiting for the farmer to turn up and changed my pants .Once i was out the car it started to sniff me then wagging its tail,then followed me where ever i went,sat when it was told stayed when it was told.Then the minute i got back in the car it was jumping at the window and snarling again .

Well dropped in at the farm i got about 2 months ago to drop the farmers wife a rabbit she wanted.Her son answered the door and after i said who i was he said be down here about 2.00pm and we will go to his farm just up the road as he has a bit of a rabbit problem .Music to my ears .So met up and went to his farm,he shown me his boundries and said have a walk round.Its mainly arable land with a motorway embankment on one side which was riddled with rabbit holes,as was his hedges .The rabbits are coming off the embankment and feeding on his land,there are runs all over the place.There is als
  13. Not all anglers leave line and hooks,AND not all shotgun people leave cartridge cases.I do both of the above and ALWAYS clear up after me,so don't tar everybody with the same brush mate.Its the minority that spoil it for the rest
  14. My brother as one,they are a good family run around with plenty of space.Never had any problems touch wood. Get a diesel one though as petrol are a bit thirsty
  15. Bought the same of arthur carter with ten free batteries,put a note in saying batteries out of stock as soon as then come in they will send.Which they did 2 days later .Excellent service from them will use again in the furture.

I don't get what you mean about only run in one direction?Surely if the rabbit runs out from a hedge or fence,going in one direction so when they run back in they will be coming from a differant direction??So how can you face the peg the way the rabbit is traveling in??Just out of curiosity have you ever set any snares?not having a go at you just wondered.

I wouldn't chop your net up mate,i did and regreted doing it,i had a 100yd 6z nylon net could not get on with it at all,so chopped it up into stop nets only to see rabbits run round them wish i had kept going with hte longnet i would be quite good with one by know. Thanks for the pics NETMAN they are as clear as mud . I think i am going to have to get out this weekend just to setting the longnets before i take them ferreting,i will put some pics up so you good folk on this section could tell me if it right or more likely wrong .

He must have enjoyed him self as he chipped in for 2 25yd longnets cash straight out his pocket,must admit mum had something to say about it,she said she must be giving him to much pocket money .He loves it,he retired a few years back,worked all his life so me and my brother never went without so its my way of saying thank you...............by letting him carry all the gear plus he can't stand sitting in the house while my mum is watching all the miss marples,morse,columbo and monk that are on sky every day

Bloody hell this long netting sounds technical i thought you just put out the net up on the poles and thats it.BUT no you have contours of the land to consider,top line sagging,bottom line taught I have got a headache thinking about it. Any chance of some pics so i can see peoples set ups and what they use,thanks.
